Does the new NASA-related movie, 'Fly Me to the Moon', encourage moon landing conspiracists?
Take a look at the trailer and let me know what you think.
Here is the article from Space.com I was referring to in the video:

I was an extra in this movie, and from what I understand, Project Artemis was the working title. It was never intended to be the name of the movie. It was supposed to throw people off about what the plot was, because it was under wraps until fairly recently. By the way, Ellie, if you would like to interview me about my perspective of being behind-the-scenes, I would be happy to meet with you. I work at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex as a Communicator.

I was one of the first people that was notified of his passing. And Ellie if you're coming down for the Starliner launch I'll be more than happy to be your cameraman. I'm right here in Melbourne Florida on the space coast and I have seen four SpaceX launches since I've been here. One night launch from the Port Canaveral there were they bring in the SpaceX Rockets. While I was there one of the Falcon 9 was hanging from a crane over there I can see it from where I was at I will be at the port to watch the launch but if you need a hand let me know I'll be more than happy to help . I sooo am NOT a conspiracy theorist about our patriotic moon landings. that said, something that weighs heavily on my sense of reason are why getting back to moon today seems ALMOST impossible 6 decades later. One, you have to have a mega rocket to get people to the moon. Until November 2022, there was only the Saturn v and it was defunded for the space shuttle. The van Allen belts are not a huge hurdle. I'm not sure what you think they are, some kind of impenetrable barrier? Many spacecraft have gone through since Apollo and did just fine. And that includes the new Orion capsule.

The Soviets observed the Apollo spacecraft going all the way to the moon and coming all the way back. They observed the correction burns. When Apollo 13 had its explosion the flash was clearly visible to astronomers on earth. Apollo 11, 14, 15 left behind a lunar reflectors which have been used for decades to bounce laser beams off the lunar surface. Apollo LM descent stages are still on the moon and regularly photographed by many lunar orbiters including Indian and Chinese ones. David Scott dropped a hammer and feather on the Moon and both hit the ground at the same time. Only possible in vacuum. Are we suggestion the film set was all in vacuum, thousands of cubic metres of sound stage, all airtight, the actors wearing real pressure suits to stay alive? Oh and how did they film in 1/6 gravity (given how long the objects took to hit the ground)?

I think using a plot of faking the landing as a backup is simply a gimmick to sell to a younger audience. Keith Cowing said the next moon landing will be doing something again for the first time, most people alive today have not seen a human walk on the moon. Old guy here so I am not familiar with the actors, seems to me they seem more like game show hosts rather than astronauts or engineers (most of those people are kind of boring, not expressive at parties). But you can tell the moon landings were not faked because pictures from the moon are not properly framed. The guys that took pictures were test pilots, not professional photographers like Kubrick or his camera crew.

Answer: none because they didn't have refueling capabilities back then

@BattleBladeWarrior
@BattleBladeWarrior 14 күн бұрын
Yea, that really annoyed me too. I was really interested to see Oppenhiemer for the historical aspect, but my understanding is that a lot of the movie is more of an art film than actual history. Same with the "Queen" and "Elvis" movies, for example. Multiple reports mention that a lot of characters and situations were made up, and a lot of the drama simply never happened, but was just added for tv to spice up the story, which is garbage, considering both films were presented almost like a documentary.
@lorentzinvariant7348
@lorentzinvariant7348 14 күн бұрын
Actually, except for the Luis Alvarez portrayal within the movie. Oppenheimer is pretty accurate. I do recommend it. Alvarez included. He was just never excluded from anything due to his race. Not only was he invited to Los Alamos. He was pivotal on the development of a working implosion mechanism for the plutonium bomb. He also went on to win a Nobel Prize in Physics.

If I had to guess, I would not be surprised if some of the failed launches and disasters that happened, were from both sides sabotaging the rockets.

Personally, I've always had a love/hate relationship with movies that try to mix real world events with fiction, but don't mention that a lot of the film is fiction. I'd much rather just see the actual story. And if there isn't enough of the actual story deemed "interesting" then I think studios should just drop the whole "based on a true story" angel, and just dive into the fictional side of it, and be open about that. As far as this film goes, I'm honestly interested to see how it plays out. Though I don't think the moon landing itself was fake, (as in, I do believe astronauts actually landed there) I do have serious doubts the "live" video they showed at the time is real. This film seems to be a comedic take on that theory, which could be entertaining, if nothing else.

Well, we “know” that when the Chinese successfully landed their Farside lander, they stumbled across the soundstage where the Apollo missions were faked. .. 😂

There have been two books written about the "back up Moon landings in studios" by two different NASA engineers who were there. Loss and delay of TV broadcasts from the Moon were the worry. YES - there were multiple Moon landings. One real and the others as emergency back ups - for the publicity. I wanna see it. Thanks Ellie, for the reporting (almost like you've been a TV reporter before).

I was excited about the movie until I saw that trailer. Why would they choose to support that repugnant lie? I will never see this movie.

I won’t see it. Movies about historical facts should be factual. If it’s not factual, then make it fictional - change the dates, change the names, etc.

You are never going to convince someone who lives on a flat earth, we landed on the moon. Loved to see the ladies in 60's fashion, brings back memories.

Love the content. Keep up the great work Ellie! Do you have the whole Bat Girl outfit to go with that skirt? I think you would look good as Bat Girl. Why would it be any harder to cover up going to the Moon as it would be to cover up UFOs ? Millions of folks have seen UFOs but the Government cover up says different.

This movie and its bs premise Ellie are part of what’s wrong in our current brainless thinking….this movie will tank when it opens because it’s an insult to millions of people all over the world who were there! And let’s not forget Grissom, White and Young’s sacrifices. I feel sorry for the future.
