I visited Edinburgh a few years ago, and it was such a beautiful place! And the people were incredibly welcoming. Good people!
@NathanielGarro-ru7du2 ай бұрын
Absolutely not true. I've lived all over the place, Scotland and England and Northern Ireland and bar staff are always friendly (whether sincerely or not) because that's their job. English in Scotland get the hardest time because so many Scots have a bag of chips on their shoulder towards them-they'd rather have an illegal immigrant in Scotland than an English person. THAT is how bitter some Scots are. English people, like Northern Irish tend to be morecaccept8ng of people-that's my experience, anyway, and I've been from one end of this country to the other.
@lordracula24612 ай бұрын
@@patsanters2741 I don't agree, honestly as a scottish person I feel the opposite. Apart from the stereotyping/piss-taking I find the English (particularly women) more than welcoming and genuinely quite curious towards scottish people. Most people living there now aren't Leithers, and A LOT aren't even British. The pubs are wank, with too many studen-types or rich people. Gone are the days when ladies of a certain industry walked the streets. Right mixed bag. In Leith, hipsters but some of the fools would make Glaswegians blush. The Marksman is rough as a bears backside. The spoons is full of my age group but the food is infamous in there. I drink up the town.

I worked in the Central for 4 - 5 years about 20-25 years ago. I used to quite like the Marksman too. Many old pals were local there.

As a Scot, that was embarrassing that character squaring up to you. Sorry to see that, you get idiots everywhere. I joined Navy at 18 & went to a pub in a village in Hampshire, called Petersfield & when they heard my accent 3 or 4 guys jumped all over me as i went outside. Every other English person been great. Great channel.

Funnily enough the Lioness of Leith on the corner of the same side of the road as The Marksman used to be one of the dodgiest boozers in Leith. It's been a decent place since 2013 though. My favourite bar by far 👌

That took me back. I remember Wilkie's when it was Whitson's! Funny thing is, I was at Bonnington Primary school with Tam who was outside Wilkie's, not seen him in years. GGTTH!!

I lived in Leith for a few years, and everyone there knew to avoid The Marksman. Hell on earth. The nice pubs in Leith are all down by the waterfront.

Awesome a bit of sunshine on Leith i always wondered where the proclaimers was singing about and you didn't even split the G. Them holy drinks are a bit dodgy they would have doubled up as charlie in that rough pub.

That old Scottish guy must have recommended the Marksman cos he was angry that England had won and saw it as his chance to get his own back on an Englishman. Tbh I was up in Edinburgh back in March and some of the folk I talked to were really warm except none of them were Scottish. So much diversity there that one was Australian, a few were American. And they were very affable and warm. But I can't make a fair comment on the Scots since I never really crossed paths with any. I get the feeling that if you get on their good side, they'll treat you like family. Get on their bad side and they'll throw you to the dogs. No half measures. Not something I'm a fan of, I prefer some balance

These aren’t Edinburgh’s roughest pubs. Most of the notorious Leith pubs have been knocked down. Still a few rough ones in Granton/Pilton but nothing like the Gunner used to be
