Dealing with trespassers on my family’s Century farm of 278 acres gets my tail feathers ruffled. The scary part is not knowing the trespasser’s intention or state of mind. A local who was confronted by the county sheriff’s deputy ( seen trespassing by a neighbor who reported him) said he has grown up close to our property and felt the property belonged to the locals more then “THEM OUT OF TOWNERS” . LOL. My husband and I don’t live on the property but stay and work on the property about 50% of the week, weather permitting. This property has been in my family since 1837, yet I’m the out of towner. 😳We’ve been robbed, had pipes in the well house broken from someone trying to turn the well on. Broke into the house during one icy winter and lit the propane heater, and used up $300 propane. Finding a Meth cooking site in our woods( smelling it first) is a big worry. I’m sorry to say I don’t feel safe walking my property alone, so I keep my conceal and carry card up to date even though it’s not required anymore, because I don’t feel safe without my 38 special. You had me hopeful to a reasonable solution when you said “ off grid” security camera and T Mobile. Going to show my husband this video in the morning as we’ve been looking for a security system we can access when we are home healing up so we can get back to the farm.

I know this is a very old comment but I used to feel your pain. It's a terrible feeling and I came close to selling my dream property years ago because of it. There is only one solution to it. You have to give in and let people ride dirt bikes, walk or whatever on your property, especially if you're not there full time.. take down your gates and no trespassing signs and let the word get around to the locals that people can enjoy your property but be respectful and don't mess it up etc. You will be surprised at the change! You will hardly have to deal with people destroying your property and having bad characters on it because local atv riders and just locals walking the acres will kind of police it for you.. you can not and never will police 100s of acres like it's your own 10 acre paradise. You are probably just like me spending more effort and time fighting off people on your land than you are actually enjoying it. If you have a lot of acres like we do you just gotta give in. The more you try to keep people out the more people of the worst kind come in. I'm actually a get off my lawn type guy and my wife was surprised I did this but it's just something to think about. I did this almost two decades ago and I've barely had any issues at all and trust me, I used to have terrible issues

Growing up in Oklahoma our cattle farm had a lot of oil field roads running to the 3 wells we had on the property. The oil company put in cattle guards so the could check on the wells without having to open gates. One night we noticed an car in the lower area of the property and drove up on them. It was a guy and gal, and once they rolled down the windows he said he there were just talking and watching the stars and that he came out there with different people all the time - thought it was just open oil field land. The next day I returned to the spot and found a bunch of discarded condoms on the ground. So he had been using that spot for some time. Never saw him again after that.

I'm an old woman who is a farmer. Been doing it for almost 40 years on my same Ozark Hill Farm. Trespassers are the one thing that still amps me up as much as it did 40 years ago. I used to keep a tall high headed American Saddlebred mare, and as soon as I heard someone in my back 40 I'd jump on her and gallop up there for a confrontation. Being on a horse.. the noises she made did not rouse people the same way my tractor motor does..plus she and I had some shortcuts through the woods where motorized things couldn't go. .I would race up there, crazy with anger, full of bad words, and not stop the horse until we were about 2' from them. By then she'd be real excited too, and blowing foam from her nostrils, prancing in place inches from their feet. It was exhilarating. Did it once when I was 2 weeks out from having one of my daughters. It would totally freak poachers out. It would freak recreational 4x4 fools out too. Now that I'm thinking about it.... Great info and demo. I love the "pod" concept, much easier to assemble on ground and less on the ladder. One small suggestion, drill two 1/4" holes 2-3 inches apart to accommodate a zip tie to secure extra wire bundle to pod. Just a little extra protection from wind and animals that might keep wire from working loose or being damaged.

You go guy. Great camera system. Only thing is I would have added another simple surprise a couple of bear boards where they were likely to park buried under a bit of leaves so they are not noticable. Makes it a bit harder to run off immediately. Have had to use such things back before there were cameras and such available to use for such security measures. Gives a slight bit more satisfaction knowing that they had to pay in a tangible way right away.

Those are considered booby traps and can land you in jail or in a lawsuit. I don't think they're legal anywhere in the Union.
@salsa0909682 жыл бұрын
@@PatrickKQ4HBD how bout police spike strips? Would that be a booby trap? Or illegal against bears? I’ve had my fair share of both intruders & bears IN my house. One bear bent back a padlocked metal door on a toy hauler. It lifted the lower right hand corner and bent it back and reached in to grab whatever it wanted. I’ve had thieves break into my home when we were home sleeping. We now have noise makers (dogs) cameras, motion sensor lights, and I carry. I think these evil doers are watching me. They know when I am alone & are brazen.

It may be a good idea to camo one cam and include the other cam in it's view. So if they try to destroy the visible one, you got em. Also, agree with others, stay armed just in case.

any ideas on how to run security cameras in location that get no cell or internet reception. on my 10 acres most of the property my phone reads no service . where i put my home is the only place that gets a little bit of phone coverage 125dbm, i use a signal booster to get it to 105dbm only in the house. ..... i would rather use radio frequency but it seems most security wants me to use cell . . do you know any one who has used those types of cameras or have you used one.??

If it’s a dead end I’d suggest putting in a gate to block it off, or park a large piece of machinery accross the road so they can’t get down or to block their exit once in there and u can call the cops. Glad your ok Josh,

Put boards down with lots of large nails in them, then cover with leaves. They wouldn't want to buy 4 new tires each visit, not to mention the fines for trespassing from the video.

I didn't catch it but is the video recorded at your home or to your phone or on a off-site cloud service? If not if they shot your video camera and destroyed the SIM card that would destroy the video evidence if information is recorded on the SIM card which I don't know enough about it to know if it is or isn't. I would appreciate a little insight into that. Also the cord that is wrapped up and dangling could in high-wind possibly get flopped around enough to unplug the wire to the camera and I would find a way to protect the cord from rodents who seem to like to chew on them. I like the style of camera you use that can be moved around. I have Arlo cameras that I purchased that I have yet to put up but I will be soon.

I still think the deterrent value of a visible camera is counter productive, you can have a CCTV sign on a tree saying as much and keep them guessing from which direction they are being filmed. I'm a bit dubious about those wired connections too, it is a significant Engineering challenge to keep water out of anything, I would have that mounted inside a big bird box to keep the worst of the snow off. The battery is going to degrade in cold temperatures so it will be interesting to see how it does over Winter and in the long term. The Reolink Argus PT batteries are not replaceable but the ones on the Reolink Go PT are, so it's a consideration for the long term (>3 years) because they have a finite life. Cameras are really pretty essential on properties now, the days of being able to trust people to do the right thing are over I think, hopefully future generations will realise why it went wrong and not keep voting in the same people

I have cameras on my place and run the plate numbers myself so that I know who the people are. I don't confront them, but I let the sheriff know my signs aren't up for fun and games and I expect them to do their due diligence in telling the people they were caught on my place and they need to stay off.
@mattcaser65812 жыл бұрын
I not only put multiple cameras up at my place, I've put signs up "video surveillance 24/7". It has so far stopped the problems. Counting on law enforcement around here to help you out will just leave you disappointed.
