Keenyn, I love your passion for teaching how to pronounce those words that differ in one vowel. Words like "ant, bank" are similar to "man" that have that glide you mentioned. You introduced and taught me how to use my right hand to emphasize the core vowel in the core syllable. Using my hands makes it easier to find the rhythm in words and sentences. Thank you for being a fantastic teacher!

Great video. 1- you said the vowel in the word ( man /mæn/ ) changed. do you think changed to /eɪ/ sound as in( gain /ɡeɪn/ ) . 2 in the word (bank /bæŋk/ ) the sound also changed to /eɪ/ /beɪŋk/. 3- do you think there is any change in the vowel /ɛ/ in the word (men /mɛn/). Thank you.
@ClearEnglishCorner
@ClearEnglishCorner 2 жыл бұрын
So glad you enjoyed the lesson! In regards to your questions: 1- No, because then the word would be "main." 2- Yes, the sound in "bank" sounds more like /eɪ/. This is because of how the /ŋ/ impacts the vowel. I always coach my students to "aim for /eɪ/" when pronouncing BANK, THANK, SANG, etc. 3- To me, the vowel in MEN sounds either SILVER (ih) /I/ or RED (eh) /ɛ/ depending on the speaker

I´m sorry for disapointing you, but after all "man" and "men" still sounds the same for me in quick speech. Can we say they are 99,99% equal and even native can´t distinguish them sometimes?
