Congaree National Park, Hopkins, SC

9/29/2021 - Congaree National Park preserves the largest tract of old growth bottomland hardwood forest left in the United States as well as one of the largest concentrations of champion trees in the world.
We did the Boardwalk Loop Trail, a 2.4 mile walk through the park. It's a relaxing and easy meander through various points of interest that teach you about it's history, trees, and the environmental importance of the wetlands. There were a few unexpected but cool sights to see such as an oxbow lake and an hidden old moonshine still which lies in the spot it's been in since it's operation so many years ago.

Great video and thanks for visiting the park! The Golden Silk Orb Weaver spider is actually a coastal spider. But with warming temps they have started moving more inland. They were 1st spotted in Congaree National Park around 2008 and yes, they can get to be very large!

Thank you for watching!! The first time we saw one of those spiders was in Charleston. We didn't know they were this far inland until we visited Congaree. They are pretty cool to look at, just don't want to run into one!

Great video! It's interesting how I never see Banana Spiders here in the Upstate, but they're all over the place in Low Country, and I can totally relate to that jogger you ran into. I walk into webs all the time while hiking and just stop and think about where the spider is at. Can't wait to see the next adventure. Take care!

Hey, Man! Thank you for watching! Actually, we haven't seen any in the Upstate either, thankfully. I don't think they are here. This one was in lower Midlands, near the Low Country border. As far as walking into webs, I started carrying a stick to hold out ahead of me so I didn't walk into them. Lol. Not a fan of webs on my face. Thanks again for checking out or videos!
