1/29/2022 - In today's adventure, Kris and I get lost in Abbeville, SC. Founded in 1764, it's a town with lots of historical significance. It was the birthplace and deathbed of the Confederate government.

The disparaging remarks were appropriate considering what occurred from the specific business but to lump the entire town into is another matter.... and it was a 4" x 5" ad in the Variety...

Thanks for the clarification on the ad. And yeah, 100% agreed, you shouldn't lump the whole town into one or just a few peoples' comments. It's a beautiful town and we want to come back soon!

I'm glad I found this video, I've lived in Abbeville my whole life, it's fun to see an outsider's perspective. Feel free to ask any questions about Abbeville or the surrounding towns (Calhoun Falls, Antreville, Honea Path, Ninety-Six, you name it).

Due West is mostly known for Erskine; most of the teachers around here get their degrees from either Erskine or Lander (which is in Greenwood).

They just in the last month cleaned the fountain in the middle of the square, before that, the water was definitely undrinkable for any animals. Also, I was working on the square Saturday, might've seen y'all around, weird to think about.

The Opera House still runs plays, a lot of the local kids participate. I've seen two, a Junie B. Jones one when I was nine, and a Wizard of Oz one when I was twelve. The Opera House is also Town Hall, by the way.

The hotel beside the Opera House is the Belmont Inn, I don't know if it has any historical value, but there's a big metal horse sculpture outside of it that people decorate.

I had no idea that house was in a movie, it's nearby the high school and store, I'll have to try and find the movie.

I see you made the out of towners mistake when you took the left on the town square and headed up a one way street backwards. This town square really confuses many people. Glad you enjoyed

We did the landscaping on that house Julia Robert's lived in while making the movie. She made that comment about because at the time their was a small black club that wouldn't admit her and her movie people because they were not members. She wasn't a very nice person

That sounds was "not creepy", I know to someone who has not heard it before.. it may sound creepy, but not really. To me, it sounds like someone with Tourette Syndrome (ticcing), I have met someone who's tic sounded just like that! (I also have TS, myself. And, I know what it is like for them, the stress the tics cause etc). So, to be completely honest, I am abit offended, by the "creepy" comment. But, I also know that was "not your intention", you were just "uneducated" at the time, about that sound. As I said before, I know that it "could" sound "creepy" if you do not know (or understand) whatthe sound is/was... I do not falt you, for not knowing. But, Tourette Syndrome, is extremely difficult to live with. Expecially, for the person who is living with it. (I am thankful, that mine is extremely mild. Yes, there are times that it gets out of hand, and with the newest tic, it sends me into a deep depression and I do not want to live when it gets out of control. Because, it is just that bad, mine affects my eyes and I am litterally unable to see and is extremely painful. That is all I will say about it. I do not like to talk about my TS. But, I will note.. how I absolutely "hate" the Hollywood, etc.. because have a misconception of that TS is... most people think that TS is just about "vulgar language", which 1st off, only a "small percentage" of people "use profanity". But, that to me honestly did sound like someone Ticcing, like I said, I have heard it before.. and in my minds eye, I can so see, this person I met before with that tic doing it. (It may actually be that person, or another with the same tic.) Sorry for a long message, sorry that I am abit offended by the "creepy comment", but if you lived with TS and someone said that about someone's else's tic, you would feel the same way. (Anyone would.) Atleast, I hope I have helped you understand what that sound was and I also I hope I have raised a little awareness about Tourette Syndrome. Because, this is something many people live with on a daily basis and many people misunderstand what it is... So, I hope that I have worded things in a way, to help you understand. I know, I am not good at communicating and all, but I hope I did a good job, explaining and I hope you do not take what I said the wrong way. (I was told, many people tend to do that. So, I hope you do not. I hope you take it like I ment it and not take it wrong.) Take Care & Stay Safe.

We are truly sorry to have offended you. We most certainly respect other people and any conditions they may have. Had we seen a person make that sound, we definitely would not have made that comment. It was simply an unfamiliar sound from and unknown source. It would never be our intention to poke fun at anyone or to offend anyone at all. In fact, we didn't even hear it until we were editing the video later and simply didn't know what it was or could have been. Again, sorry to have offended you. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching.
