Hi Chris, Great video! I have 2 questions. 1) To connect to your datamart in SSMS, does it require my organisation to allow it in the Power BI Tenant via admin? 2) Is it correct that in the current state of datamarts we cannot create dynamic security via RLS, only static?

Good questions 1. The only toggle admins have on Datamarts is if you can use them or not. So if you can use them, then you can connect to them via SSMS (unless your enterprise has some odd custom networking config that blocs connections - highly unlikely, but possible) 2. For the auto-gen dataset, that is correct. I would recomend building a custom dataset in that workspace and manage via XMLA. Then you have access to everything.

Yes! Any tool that can connect to SQL Server can connect to a Datamart.

Thanks for sharing video about how to connect SSMS from DataMart. I created Datamart in power BI service and Dax Measures but after connecting SSMS we can able see only tables not Dax Measures. How can move Dax Measures Datamart to SSMS and My main aim is how to connect Datamarts with other Tools like Qlik, Tableau. Could you please help me.

Great question. Today, the SSMS connection only connects to the SQL server tables. Today you cannot connect to the AUTO Dataset where the measures, joins, and RLS are defined in the native datamart tool. BUT WAIT!!! If you build a custom model, like in my Datamart Model video, you can then add all of your joins, measures, RLS, etc to THAT model, then connect to that model via Qlik, Tableau etc.
