awesome video my friend. spot on to what I needed to learn so huge thanks. have a question: I have a 3 podcast camera set up (at the moment 2 x Blackmagic Pocket cameras [6K and 4K] + 1 x Sony FX3). Ideally I'd want to shoot everything on the same camera system but that's what I have for now. I understand I can use option 1 and take three separate audio feeds from the headphone jacks. But I'd like to do the more pro option 3. In your video you demonstrated taking the audio out feed from the speaker LEFT and RIGHT channel into the XLR audio interface and then out to the camera. But I have multiple cameras and XLR input capabilities for all these cameras (Blackmagic's XLR to mini XLR adapters + Sony XLR audio attachment). I want to be able to come out of the RODE into an audio interface and then out again from there using XLR ideally into each camera. Is this possible? If so what do I need? Many thanks! Wish you all the best

WOW Amazing Video. I am so thankful that you would put so much work into this video very well done mate. I learned so much. CAN YOU PLEASE DO AN UPDATE for the RODE CASTER PRO II or is it all the same because there is no Main Volume Knob that I see on the II vs the old Caster Pro So it must be the big large Button that spins I am unsure why they would do away with that volume knob by the 4 Head Phone knobs.

It’s all the same. We want to do an update but realistically it’ll be a month or so away.

I love your videos man. They have helped me through my first ever XLR experience along side the sm7b. That aside-- one of the reasons I watch your videos is because I can tell you genuinely love what you do. You're always positive and I swear--- there has to be someone behind the camera making inappropriate gestures at you because in almost all of your videos it appears that you're trying hard to hold back from laughing. Maybe this is something you do naturally, and if so, awesome, but I swear that grin is indicative of a camera man doing a makeshift batwing or fruit basket while filming you.

Edit Anyone else feel this? Lmao
@kettnercreative2 жыл бұрын
Aha! I wish I had someone else. I'm just a one man band that makes all of the videos. For the last four videos, I've started to work with a friend to have him do the editing for me. He does a better job and it gives me more time to work on other projects. The weird looks/faces are mostly because I'm looking at a TV with a feed of the camera to make sure everything is in-frame and setup right. If I'm smirking, it's because I'm often repeating the same content in at least 100+ videos. I totally understand that people want to see (x) interface with (y) microphone, but it does start to feel a little ridiculous after my 300th video with essentially the same content - so I can't help but be amused by it.
@philthyphil10172 жыл бұрын
@@kettnercreative no doubt. Yeah I could see feeling that way. Thanks for giving us the answers to the things running circles in our heads, lol. Keep it up. You're unparalleled, seriously. I know there's alot of content out there but yours has a very professional feel to it, yet down to earth and without all the filler. Take care!

I have this setup: Sony a6400 to ATEM Mini Pro ISO; Shure SM7B to Rodecaster Pro 2; Rodecaster Pro 2 (dual audio to 3.5mm) to ATEM Mini Pro ISO; External Drive connected to the ATEM. But I have a problem: I'm recording great video, but NO AUDIO. The "MIC 1" on the ATEM is ON. I've recorded 33 episodes, but now I'm recording no audio. I did check the ATEM software and made sure the audio was set to "LINE" instead of "Microphone." Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm stumped. Btw, love the videos. You're my "go to" on this stuff.

Hi! I would like to buy Scarlett for my guitar. And also I want a microphone, but I don't know what I should buy, use the USB micro or in case I'll buy an audio interface for my guitar anyway - buy XLR micro? I would like to use the microphone with a stand and set it up over my head and also I want to avoid the keyboard and mouse sound. I found Fifine K658, but it doesn't have an XLR port. So I found Shure MV7 with both ports and I could use it XLR or USB as I want. But what is better? Could I use Scarlett and a USB microphone for some time, and In case I want to improve my quality - change the input to XLR? But for real, I want to spend less money and get a good quality, I also found RODE PodMic but as I see in reviews - I need to spend 100$ for dynamite to make it sound not shitty... Or should I just buy the Fifine K658, and in case I want to improve quality - connect it via a 3.5mm jack (headphones output) using 3.5mm to XLR?

Please help! I have a rodecaster pro, Sennheiser mke 600 shotgun mic, and a Sony ZV E10 camera and Ecamm. Is it best for me to setup my rodecaster directly to my computer or directly to my camera? The mic is mounted on top of my camera, and I was going to buy and audio interface to connect the rodecaster to my camera as well. Is that necessary? Or can I just connect them all separately to the computer for ecamm with no problems (i.e. audio problems)? I've watched so many videos but have not figured this setup out. Note i only need to pre record, not go live on ecamm.

HEY! Would you be able to do a video on XLR splitters? Right now I'm using the rodecaster with six mics. Four of the mics are attached to XLR splitters. So far everything has worked great but I think I'm starting to hear ringing coming from the mics that use the splitters. After using these splitters for at least 30 episodes at an hour+ record time, they haven't caused problems until now. Perhaps the life span for them has been reached? I don't know. I watched your video on the Mogami XLR and I put it on my shopping list. But I want to know if there's a better way to split mics, if there's a "best" mic splitter, or if there's any kind of maintenance that can be done or supplemental covers and interference shields I can use. And if this is too specific for a video then perhaps you or anyone reading, is there an article, website, or video I can learn from?
@kettnercreative2 жыл бұрын
With everything that I know, XLR splitters are not consumable - they cannot be used up and they don't generally have a set lifespan as long as you take care of them. By take care of them, I mean you're not bending them and breaking the copper strands inside of the cable. XLR splitters certainly aren't a great long term solution, I'm sure you've discovered that they really compromise your ability to mix your recording properly. I would guess that any ringing that you're hearing would be either environmental (HVAC system), or somewhere else in your signal chain. Using higher quality cables/splitters will help, but long term you should consider a 6 channel mixer.

I have a question for anyone who has experience. I am looking at buying a 31 band graphic eq for my home setup. The one that I am most interested in is a ART EQ-355 Dual 31-band Graphic Equalizer. My friend is saying that I would have to use channel 1 for left (for example) and channel 2 for right. Is that true? I wouldn't be able to use channel one for one device (while keeping stereo output) and channel two for another device. A little bit of context here, this is going in my gaming setup. I have two computers, a Yamaha MG10xu connected to my streaming computer, a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 connected to my gaming computer. My stream gets my whole mix and my gaming computer just gets my voice which via usb from my audio interface and thanks to the line out's on my audio interface that is running to my mixer for my gaming computer. I also am running a Shure SM7B mic. I want the eq connected to both monitors (i know that sounds weird but I send audio to my monitor as well to separate the audio) so I can eq everything coming out of those and then send it directly into my mixer for my stream to hear. So that would mainly be my game audio and music. Also it would be used for movies or anything else. I just want to make sure that I can still distinguish left and right audio using only one channel. That way in game I can still hear when someone is to my left or right.

Depending on your workflow, some people prefer to just take the feed from the camera for a live stream or to make editing a little easier. For my personal preference, I like to send an audio feed to the video camera as a backup.
