I tried this on my RX A 2010 and it worked! Step 1: Plug a ethernet-cable into backside of your Yamaha receiver. Step 2: Follow the steps in the video. Easy. Done! (Thank you cable guy!)

Thanks for the video. I have a question, hopefully you can answer. For some odd reason I can't AirPlay music from any of my devices. Restarted all my devices including the router. Any suggestions. Doing an update as I type this. Maybe that solves my issue.

I have the sane problem, MacBook nor iPhone will recognize the receiver through AirPlay. Updating the network hasn't solve it..

William & Carolina: I had the same issue until today: I have downloaded Yamaha app, selected Spotify as input, and in Spotify app I found the option to connect to my RX-V775. Still not able to connect using the music main app on the iPhone, but I can see connectivity is not the issue. I am also able to connect from the laptop iTunes app.

Hi, I have model HTR-4071 , in stereo the music plays without bass. I can't set it up. But in a movie where the effects are a blast, for example, it already has bass. Only when I play music so no bass. Don't know what to do?

I have aventage rx 840 updated to firmware 1.77 update said successful but so far after update nothing works the app doesn't work anymore and reciever can no longer be found by any devices via wifi anyone else having this problem

Great Video! - Updated my RX-V775 and also downloaded the iPhone App from Yamaha to control the Receiver. - Works Great! I was using the Receiver as a hub for all of my devices with their various HDMI connections tho the Receiver. I then had the HDMI Out going to my 73inch Mitsubishi TV, which I was able to select fro viewing by using the "Input" button to switch between the Receiver or the TV antenna. After the update, the TV will no longer switch to the Receiver and wants me to plug the HDMI devices into the TV instead. Any ideas on what was updated that would change this ability?

Alanna Lacroix are you connected to the internet by a wired cable or wifi? I suggest wired cable as the wifi will likely be password protected. I just hooked mine up from out of the box and it worked perfectly the first time. Sorry if that's not helpful.

All I had to do was plug an ethernet cable into my Yamaha receiver and it immediately asked me on-screen if I wanted to update the firmware. I’m using an RX-V683.

I know this video is 5 years old, I'm having issue with NFL Game Pass (again) have tried just about everything anyway thought to try updating Receiver which I haven't done for a few years. Anyway followed these instructions and receiver went through the process and guess what receiver says it's up to date. Appears to me they don't have updates for my receiver anymore... RX-V675 I can't find what "version" it's on either where do you find it? EDIT: found it Firmware version 1.93...but still NO NFL Game Pass :(

I have a RX-A3040. Before I could initiate the advance menu, I needed to turn off Zone 2,3,4 and leave the Zone on Zone Control. Just press the Zone buttons to turn on/off. If I had Zone 2,3,4 showing on the Yamaha LCD Display, holding the Straight button and pressing Power button did nothing. Turning the Zone 2,3,4 off worked just like in your video.

Thank you. Great video. I have an RX-A830. Just bought pre-owned. 2 concerns. 1) 'Version Error' each time I power up the receiver. 2) When I raise up the volume, the Max Volume number goes up only 'from -15.5 to Volume Max.' My speakers are not loud enough. Even though I reached the Maximum Volume already. The 'Trim' volumes are already on Max. On 'Volume Max' screen, it says -15db... Help please.

Make sure your receiver is online. If it won’t connect, or if it is connected and still giving you an issue, download the firmware from the website, save it in the root file of a usb drive, connect it to the front of the receiver, and choose UPDATE USB at the beginning of the process

Hi, the update worked fine on my RX A 660 but since then I have no video output. the HDMI cable is plugged in, I just tested it on a computer and it is not faulty nor is the TV. I have a red "HDMI" on the AVR screen when I select an HDMI input (maybe this is normal but I don't remember). I mean no output at all. No output of my inputs and also no display of AVR options, music relevant info, etc. I'm a bit annoyed...
