Great channel, these TouchOSC tutorials are great. I'm coming over from Lemur. One thing I can't seem to find any info on is; Lemur Daemon could created multiple ports to send MIDI to different apps/locations. Can't seem to create additional TouchOSC bridge ports that are available in Ableton and other apps. Just the one TouchOSC bridge port. Thanks.

Ya the only real thing is "connections" of which there are 5 I believe to choose from, but ya that would totally be a nice feature.

Ableton isn't responding to these steps. I hit midi learn, moved the knob, and hit it again. No response when moving the knob on TouchOSC. All I really need is for Ableton to trigger a go button

My first guess is that there's a connection issue with TouchOSC to your computer. You may want to check the connections on the app to make sure they're synced with your computer. If it's apple, you can also check the MIDI connections natively. Additionally, you can use Protokol to check if all the messages are coming through from your template correctly: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZjbpWembNGZp5o

@@TimCorpus Yes I was able to get help in a Discord server. It was trying to communicate over OSC not through midi if I recall. Protokol helped identify the problem

TouchOSC can work on a desktop computer with a touch screen. I haven't used it that way before. Some other folks in the community may have experiences with it. I've always used a tablet.

you don't know how long I've been trying to find a decent tutorial omg! however, everything works up until the 'midi learn' stage. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong as I've followed your clear instructions - any ideas what it could be?

Does Touch OSC show up as a device in Studio Settings? Also have you downloaded and activated the Bridge for a touch OSC?

@@TimCorpus Ableton, my normal DAW is logic but I have to use Ableton as I'm doing a uni assignment haha!

@@_JennaMusichere's some ideas: 1: check Ableton settings again to make sure that it's checked to receive signals. 2: make sure Touch OSC on your iPad is in play mode, not edit. 3: restart your computer. I've had issues sometimes that if I open a DAW before turning on the Bridge and connecting Touch OSC or any other MIDI device, it doesn't work. 4: make sure the button is enabled in Touch OSC, sometimes things accidentally get clicked off while you're editing them. 5: make sure you're using a clear channel for your DAW (you may have another MIDI device using that channel, so be sure to select the MIDI program channel and CC that are open. 6: are you receiving any signal at all from the iPad? You can use the editor or Protokol to check if the buttons are sending the correct signals from the iPad to the computer.

Hi - a little confused here: to use OSC, is it best to purchase both the Touchosc Mac desktop version, as well as the ios? It seems like the ios version can do alot on it's own, but would like your feedback when you have a moment. Also using osc with Clyphx Pro, if that makes a difference..Thanks!

So to use TouchOSC you will need to buy the mobile app for either apple, android, or amazon. You are able to build the templates on the mobile device and use it without having any desktop TouchOSC software running (except Bridge but that's free). The desktop version is just the editor and you can download that for a free trial as well.

Have you tested your device with Protokol? Do you know if your signals are being received by the computer? This is the best place to start troubleshooting.

@@TimCorpus thanks tim, i was just being an idiot and not activating the bridge in the right order...10/10 haha. The more I look into touch OSC the more surprised I get that there aren't a more wide variety of custom modules, like skyrim but for music haha

@@deveyous6614 haha ya well the community is making more and more modules that you can use in your own template. But yes, hopefully Hexler will continue to expand the objects in TouchOSC.
