These work great I used to ride my 65 pound husky on the back of mine. He would run up the road next to me on the Hills LOL. Lots of photos in Santa Barbara of me

Thanks Marc Gervais. This rig is definitely one of my favourites for touring purposes. Thanks for leaving a comment!

=D> 🐆purrr, music lovely...does a 1 wheel fish tail?... my trailer is 7'x 3'... going to make bicycle camper trailer, though hard to stop the fish tail & slow w/o pedal assist.

Try moving the wheels back on the trailer to stop fishtailing . Need to have a little more tung weight to stop fishtailing

Gosh this looks crude and tedious. The pivot up and down needs to be adjusted? No thanks but good luck.

I have the same trailer but it's got a different name (VidaXL). I can't tell how the skewer parts go together and the instructions that came with it are worthless. Can you explain which parts go on the skewer in which order?
@604Bluelight5 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, I don't think what you have is the same trailer. The Mayacycle trailer is one of a kind and unique. I will not be helpful to you. If indeed what you have (VidaXL) is the exact trailer as in the video, then you have a knockoff copy of the Mayacycle. There are some very good instructions on the Mayacycle website that may help you and you can check them out there, but I really don't think you have the same trailer. Good luck!

@@604Bluelight Thanks for your reply. I don't know if I have a knockoff or not but the trailer I have appears identical to the Mayacycle to me, at least by looking at photos. One difference is the Mayacycle apparently comes with wingnuts whereas the VidaXL just has standard hex nuts. But everything else looks identical to me. Thanks for the reference to Mayacycle's instructions - I found those and it would be a big help, but I decided to alter the connection by eliminating those rectangular metal pieces and instead lock the trailer's fork down with something a little easier to operate. If you're interested to see what I did take a look at this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/op21YoCwfaeGkKc

@@garylewis327 your trailer does indeed look identical to the Mayacycle trailer except without the branding. Vidaxl.com looks to be a knockoff website so I am not surprised. Mayacycle has released a much better skewer quick release since the trailer's first release over 10 years ago for better ease of use. It is for sale on their site and seeing as your trailer looks to be exact as the Mayacycle, I can not see why it wouldn't work. I do like the modification you've done to yours however. I've written a few reviews of the trailer on my old cycling blog nearly 10yrs ago... whereareyougoingwhatareyoulookingfor.blogspot.com/2011/06/my-first-product-review-maya-cycle-bike.html . I have taken it on many cycle tours and has been problem free through the years. You may want to check them out.

@@604Bluelight Thanks for the response. I had no idea I was buying a knockoff but probably should have considering the price. Thanks for the info on the new skewer/quick release and the reference to your blog. I will definitely check it out. I'm always interested in anything cycle-touring related.

@@604Bluelight Just finished reading about your first tour with the Mayacycle. You're a good writer - it was quite enjoyable to read. It really made me laugh, only because I've made many of the same mistakes, especially on my early tours. If you want a laugh of your own, read about this tour I did in 2008. It was my second tour, but the first one (which was also full of mistakes) was in 1995 so if I learned anything from that one I had apparently forgotten the lessons by the time I did this one. www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?o=1mr&doc_id=4089&v=Iq

Yeah but this trailer is a lot cheaper than most others out there. There's always a sacrifice to save some money. Example - a single wheel rigid BOB runs around $330. This one is $86 on eBay (called VidaXL). I got one for $76 with a discount coupon. I'll put up with the minor inconvenience to save $254.
