How do you connect the monitor to the bike? What is the power source?

It has a power cord that connects from the monitor to the wall, then hdmi to the monitor from your phone

Do i need one of those devices or can I pull up what I want on my phone and just plug my phone in?

As long as you have an HDMI-to-Cellphone connector, then you certainly can mirror whatever is on your phone to the screen. Apple requires an HDMI cable and a separate dongle, whereas Android only needs an HDMI to USB-C cable.
