The main thing about addiction is regularity. If you start smoking regularly, becoming addicted is practically a matter of time. Nicotine is very addictive. The most important thing, in my opinion, is to control this addiction. If you lose control over how much you smoke a day and you can't stay without a cigarette for too long, then this addiction is very bad. I smoke 1 to 2 packs a month and I try to stick to it, knowing it's unhealthy. At first I smoked very little, then a little more, until I got to the point where I started to lose control. Then I took a break to stabilize my habits. It's important to set limits on things like nicotine and alcohol to feel good about yourself. I admire you, Connie, for still being able to somewhat control your addiction. You make really nice content and I love chill vibe on your videos.

I just started a year ago. Started with your regular cigs, then learned to roll my own, now I settled with pipe smoking and ocassional cigar for very special ocassions. The weird thing is I never be able to ihale, my lungs just can't accept it. I still get my buzz through my nose. I never get addicted. I can go quit cold turkey untill a couple of weeks, I don't feel the urge to get my fix. For me smoking is just my way to enjoy a finer things in life like a glass of fine wine. This habit is definitely can be control unless you have addictive personality then I advise against it.

You can't control it, my friend who is a very level headed individual started smoking one a day, that went on for months until he started smoking more and more but he quit before it became too much but he really is the exception, most people like me become addicted and turn into regular smokers.

Yes, addiction is different for everyone, and everyone has their own experiences with it. You always have to take care of yourself and you should never overdo it. And it's best to stay away from alcohol completely, pure poison and it can destroy your entire life. Personally, I don’t really have problems with addiction. If I smoke only once a day or every few days, I think if you overdo it it will become disgusting at some point and you don't want that. Don't wish anyone an addiction problem is really bad, you are worth more :). Nice video Connie

The evolution of my addiction to your videos is evolving in and of itself!! At first, I was mildly amused, thought ok, this is kinda cool, NOW, these video " dairies " are like my once a day escape into the mind of such a seemingly pleasant and kind young soul, it's very refreshing as with age, the darkness of our species can get overwhelming if we allow it!! We ALL need regular reminders that theres a Yin and a Yang to EVERYTHiNG!! 👊🏻❤

I think for me it's the ritual of it. I only smoke a couple of cigarettes a day, and only after work, sitting on my balcony and enjoying the fresh air. To me it signals the end of the day, that it's my time to relax and unwind. I don't carry them with me, and don't crave them during the day. I guess I just unintentionally trained myself that after work is my Cigarette Time.

No judgment from me at all, in fact having met many heavily addicted smokers I'm quite impressed. But do you think, if it is or were to be legal wherever you are, that you'd ever switch to CBD cigarettes? I'm just curious to know, as I don't use any nicotine/tobacco product but I do enjoy my CBD in the same way you do, mainly for the after work ritual! It's relaxing, helps with my chronic pain, and it's a bit healthier, it doesn't make me high either. Definitely not addictive but habit forming sure.

I first realized that I was legitimately addicted to cigarettes when a buddy gave me a vape and just like that most of my thoughts about smoking went away now that I had nicotine from another source. This was pretty scary but I have yet to make any attempts to stop smoking because I am in fact dumb.

You have a somewhat unique relationship with cigarettes. Most people who like cigarettes as much as you seem to want to smoke more than one every two days and most people who would like to smoke that amount would be scared off by feeling the beginnings of addiction. Dose is going to determine the strength of addiction to a degree and keeping the dose as low as you do should keep you from getting shaky or even terribly moody since you're likely getting to negligible amounts of nicotine in your system between cigarettes.

That’s the reality of the smoking, but after years of being a smoker. Trust me, when you will quit and have patience, you will never get back to smoking, because everything about it is an illusion, and after a while you will see and feel how much of a huge difference it is when you become a NONSMOKER. That’s coming from someone who took other substances in the past. But trust me, you can do it and you’ll never regretted , but become happy for this road that you choose. Good luck!

Most of the smookers, from what I saw at the smokers that were around me, and also a bit of my experience, use to smoke when they wake up, when they drink coffee, when they're bored or when have a chatt(maybe because most of them became smokers because the buddies around), also they smoke as a reason to get a brake at work.

9:25 I don't think you can addicted to cigarettes if you only try it once. I remember the first cigarette... I couldn't inhale it even if I tryd hard. The first time I could really inhale it was with my 3rd or 4th cigarette. And I think the first time when you can inhale the smoke in your lungs is when you can actually get addicted to it.

When you smoke 10-20+ cigarettes a day, the buzz goes away almost entirely. It becomes only about the routine of "lighting up", the oral fixation, and maintaining the balance of nicotine in your system. Not to mention some coughing and other oral/respiratory symptoms. It may be useful for you to smoke a lot to realize how the extreme end can feel, but that comes with the risk of getting more addicted. I have found that vaping very negatively affects singing. It also causes a sensation of severe shortness of breath. This can be persistent. It made me feel like I had a significantly reduced lung capacity. Nicotine gum is also not good. I chewed it for many months, but then I realized it was causing prolonged dehydration. Many people online wrote testimony that nicotine lozenges gave them hair loss! I immediately stopped the gum and have no plans to go back. It is only to be used in cases of serious cigarette addiction to wean off of the chemical dependence, in my opinion. If you are using a large amount of nicotine and quit cold turkey, your immune system will be affected. It may cause you to catch an illness and become sick with the cold/flu. Turns out, there's no cheat method for consequence-free nicotine buzzes. A smoke or two every few days is about as happy of a medium as one can get. We're all getting poisoned all the time. The aluminum from the chemical contrails, the microplastics, the secret ingredients in processed food, the fluoride in the water (depending on where you live). Some good old-fashioned tobacco is part of the human experience. If you CAN partake in moderation, that's great. Might not be a bad idea to switch to American Spirits or something additive-free.

I've come through this realization and phases of addiction with many things. Gaming when I was younger, technology and screen time, alcohol to which I was never truly addicted but had too much and I realized the time of cravings when I experimented with enjoying drinking solo in the evenings, porn (this is a big one, growing esp. among men but women too), social media (social media by far is the weirdest/hardest to evaluate on ourselves because we think it's part of our culture and life), and weed - I never really liked smoking cigarettes, but went through all the phases with weed, even to a point where I smoked every day for a few months, sometimes a few times a day. Now I don't smoke weed at all. Addictions are all really similar, no matter if it's a substance or a behavior/habit. They exploit your feelings. Fear, sadness, stress, loneliness, failures, boredom, work issues, bad grades, arguments, unfulfiled desires, bullying, trauma, depresion, fatigue. They allow you to temporarily escape from the pain of the bad feeling. That's not how they become addictive at first. These things can be nice when done/consumed in a controlled way, for entertainment, socially etc. You start when you feel okay. But as you start doing it once in a while regularly and your life progresses, you start using it subconsciously as a way to help yourself for a moment, to give yourself some relief. This is quite natural, but there are some better things you can do and some worse. Some people smoke a cig, drink a coffee and eat cookies/cake/candy, play that mobile app game, scroll Instagram, start shopping, go on Tinder, have a glass of wine... there are hundreds of options nowadays. The key is to understand your cycles and about emotional regulation, pay attention to your triggers, your emotions, what and why you feel. Sit with the pain or an uncomfortable feeling, stop avoiding it. That's when the addiction tries to start the rational phase and convince you it's easier to help yourself "just once this time". The most straightforward way to go against this is to try therapy and/or shadow work if you can, cause that's where this all shows up, and IMO mindfulness/meditation is a big help too, we are a bit blind to it in the western culture even though it's basically mind exercise.

The way addiction often happens is after a difficult episode in life. So when a life problem makes you feel stressed and anxious about what is happening, you will need to medicate with your addiction way more constantly. Then you build a heavy tolerance and experience much worse withdrawals when you use less... and then the anxiety remains even after the difficult life event finally passes.

Smoking is expensive and is a low-yield to high-risk behavior; quitting smoking was a huge benefit to my life. When you find ways to care more for your wellness, your opinion of yourself evolves and it's critical for many to enacting change to their habits. Even better, when someone intimate with you has encouraging words and affection that you want to stay around for it makes the decision clear to do better things with yourself, your time, and your money. The words "habit" and "addiction" are not mutually exclusive, and people who lack control of their substance use are often self-described as powerless to it, consumed by it, and it becomes an obstacle to many or all other things in their life. Brushing your teeth has probably never been an obstacle to paying your bills or landed you in a hospital bed. Be mindful not to use the word "addiction" lightly, there are real people struggling. I hope you can do well for yourself, and find another way to make money that is less risky to your body.

I was a very similar casual smoker too, but I stopped smoking because I've noticed that it's taking a toll on my health. I have not smoked a single cig since the summer of 2020, but I have to say that the cravings will never go away, I think it's one of the worst things in addiction. Once you become addicted (to any substance), then you will never be able to truly quit the stuff, because the cravings will be there forever. The only thing that's stopping me from smoking again, is the fact, that I would feel so awful afterwards, like I betrayed myself or something like that.

I started smoking two years ago, if I'm remembering correctly. I wanted to understand why people are addicted to smoking from a young age, but living with my parents they'd advised me not to try considering my dad used to smoke before he married my mom. I asked my friends about this because one of them vape and tried smoking a cigarette but couldn't handle the taste. He said that smoking cigarette is an acquired taste like coffee because after days and weeks and possibly months of research I went and lit up a Mevius cigarette because it has the lowest amount of nicotine. What I find odd was I don't feel anything like a buzz or something, but I do find myself smelling my fingers a lot more due to the smell after I'm done with my cigarette. Since I'm not feeling any buzz or something at the time I told myself that I wasted money buying a whole pack of Mevius, but you couldn't just buy a single cigarette, so... I tried again after two days, and I can taste the tobacco on the roof of my mouth, and it tastes nice. I often brush my tongue on the roof of my mouth during and after each smoke... then I learned about cigars. I then tried it too because to be frank I prefer cigars than cigarettes. The taste of tobacco was overwhelming, and the smoke was good as I took my time and enjoy the session with coffee because I've been drinking coffee since my teenage years, and this just compliments the taste more. I'm not used to smoke like 2 or 3 cigarettes a day because I will only smoke in a controlled environment, little to less wind, quiet place, and of course some coffee. I often take my time smoking even if it's a cigarette.

I tried my 1st cig at 14. My mom always painted it as the worst thing ever and left no opportunity out to mention how bad it is. However my dad and many of my favorite family members smoked. So this has been a conflict in my head from a very young age and smoking always caught my attention. Up to age 18 I smoked a handful of times. At 18 I smoked several a day for like a week because it was such a stressful week. Then I had a few more occasions were I smoked a few cigarettes, another time where I bought a pack, smoked half of it in a period of time then gave the rest away lol. So I never really started regularly, but I often have the urge to smoke. In that case I usually just watch a video of you or someone else smoking, I really don't want to smoke a lot because it is so unhealthy. But I have a pack at home and smoke maybe one to two cigs a year. And it still feels like the most forbidden thing that lives rent free in my head somehow. 🙃

Dear Connie, - You are addicted to smoking! It is not yet an advanced addiction. You can still control it a little bit. Now is the time that you should try to quit. It would be difficult, but not yet impossible. But there is 100% guarantee that it will get worse. That is how addiction works. For some people it goes quickly. For other people like yourself, it goes slowly. But you ARE addicted. And it WILL get worse! You have a PROBLEM that you should fix. - I understand that smoking helps you with some things, like anxiety and going outside more. You think those benefits are worth it, as long as you control the smoking. You think that you will quit smoking if it starts getting out of control. But you won't quit then. It will only be much much more difficult to quit then. You think that smoking is different for everybody, but you are so wrong about that. Yes, the reasons for smoking are different for everybody. The rate at which is develops is different. But addiction will always make you need more to get the "pleasure". That is the same for everybody. You will be smoking a pack a day. Not sure when, but it will happen if you don't decide to try quitting now.

Smoking hijacks your brain. This has already happened to you, just like it does with every smoker. - Don't you wish that you had never started smoking ? That you didn't have to "control" it all the time ? That you didn't have to keep busy in order to avoid thinking about smoking all the time? That you didn't have to debate with yourself if you are addicted or not, and if it will become a bigger problem some day? That you could live your life without even thinking about smoking, just like it was before you started smoking?

There are some definite parallels and similarities between smoking/vaping cigs & smoking/vaping cannabis. That first hit of flavor and the high are very psychologically addictive. I had to stop after 14 years of super heavy use. Chronologically, I stopped smoking (2 years) then vaping (6 years) then edibles (6 years)

Have you tried non filter cigarettes? Like Pall Mall or Camel unfiltered. The tobacco is more milder for a more comfortable yet refreshing taste. The packs still come in the original soft pack with blue label. The tobacco is much finer allowing for it to be its own filter. Smoked a pack of Pall Mall unfiltered and I never looked back.

It became a problem for me when I started craving them outside of the party atmosphere. For me the oral habit of smoking is harder to quit than the nicotine itself. It's almost like a reflex at this point. It got real bad when I switched to vaping I was puffing every 5-10 seconds all day long. The oral habit is the hardest part for most people.

Connie you are very good at your craft and creating content c: its always so nice to smoke and watch your videos✨. It's interesting to hear about your own smoking journey and addiction, I feel like it sheds light to understanding addiction, which I think can be very misunderstood sometimes . I smoke like 7 ciggies a year lol and am more of a daily 🍃wish I had the self control you have w cigarettes >__

opinion on weed? The tolerance with weed is much more manageable esp. since it doesn't bond to your brain (gets you physically addicted). You've mentioned your trigger times being sunset / night, so I assume by then you've got all of your work done and just want to chill. I understand that the fact that the high is more "intense" and lasts a lot longer might oppose you to it but it's always the best time to smoke some and get ready for a great night.

For some reason, unlike many people, I cannot become addicted to cigarettes, I can smoke 5 or 6 branches in one sitting, but then I don't feel like it. I use cigarettes as a stress-relieving mechanism when I'm going through hard times

Yes, the buzz is very important feeling. But after addiction you will smoke at least a pack a day and can't feel the buzz. If you learn to inhale thick balls of smoke deep in your lungs you will be soon very addicted smoker

The buzz you feel is not from nicotine. It's from other added chemicals. Nicotine is just a stimulant. Anyways, I wish they sold the pure nicotine so I could rub a drop on my hands every now and then, cause cigarettes just fuck my kidneys up too much. Can't do it anymore. I remember one time that I decided to roll up 40 cigarettes to smoke during the following days, when I got passed the 20th I started getting a nicotine overdose just by absorbing nicotine from the tobacco that I was handling, without smoking anything. That was cool.

My addiction came about in quite possibly the most stupid way possible, I have always had an addictive personality and all growing up I would see people smoking and it always fascinated me even at the age of like ten. I was fascinated for two reasons 1 was the smoke and how it was just really cool to see and the other the more concerning one which led me to buy cigarettes was the thought of “could I stop” even knowing I have a seriously addictive personality, that was my thought. My retarded brain decided to lay out a challenge to myself which obviously I failed at 🤦‍♂️

i started with 5 cigs a day, stuck to that for a year and a half, and then in like 2 weeks it went from 5 cigs a day to a pack a day, been like that for a year now, nicotine buzz is long gone :/, i mean it wasn't really there that much, only time i was like really light headed and "okay i need to go outside and catch some fresh air" was at some wedding where i smoked 2 packs in 4 hours

In my opinion, smoking cigarettes for the "buzz" effect means like being too scared to smoke a joint, which is positive anyways, (fr dont start smoking weed, it'll ruin your life) but loses the sense of smoking any tobacco product. In fact, it would have to be something related to good tobacco tasting and not the sensation (weed is more meant for that, I guess). I would suggest you to begin hand-roll cigarettes and try tobacco brands until you find your favourite. Furthermore, as well as you continue smoking you'll begin not feeling the buzz anymore and smoking tobacco for its taste will be the only option that would justify keeping smoking. I also recognise its based everything on personal choices, but I guess you'll figure that out by yourself soon. Congrats for your channel development too and good luck.

I don’t know if it’s just America in my experience and many others I know mainly smoke at work and the most common places I see it are physical labor job in factory or construction and many of us smoke a lot less at home and it seems to be more of a stresss reliever or physical pain reliever or a wake me up at work getting a nice rush often smoking fast rather than spending time to enjoy the cigarette
