"All smoking rooms were abolished on the Tokaido, Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen lines on March 16, 2024, meaning that smoking is no longer allowed on any bullet train nationwide." --per Japanese News Media. Simply wanted to pin this information for anyone who may have been interesting in doing this themselves. Was looking forward to experiencing this again next time I visited, but it seems that that will not be possible. To anyone who wanted to do this themselves, my condolences. I hope this video can help give a good idea of what the experience would have been like. Of course, if this comment is incorrect, please do let me know below.

Never smoked on a bullet train, but did on a Amtrak on 9/11/01. Back then you could smoke in half of the dining car. Nothing fancy just old style booths that could fit 4 people. The car was so packed that night everyone sat with strangers. I also remember flying as a kid when smoking was still allowed on planes. People were far more social back then.

Hey jacob i have just found out the wood i'm using for you're pipe is made of elm wood. Elm wood is not only an expensive wood but it's hard to work with because of it's density so this pipe is going to be an extreme rarity so cherish it forever because it would be a very expensive pipe. But for me the pipe is cheap to make because i found it in my fire wood pile.

Oh wow! I Haven't seen the Original Black Box JPS straights in a LONG time! Thank ye Jacob! I get a stream of your older uploads in suggested since subscribing, so I've been 'catching up'! I may be a little behind with the comments for that very reason, you know what I'm saying? Well, since the UK decided that Colour and Choice encouraged smoking, so they made us all get Plain Brown Boxes and Wrappers for Every Brand! Leaving *Only* the Name, with the usual 'Warning' info. The last time I travelled by air was from Gatwick Airport to Kane PA and it is apparent that Most UK Airports currently have designated Smoking Areas BEFORE Security but strictly no smoking after Security. In 2005 when I flew to the States, Gatwick Airport had a Designated Smoking Area Inside the main Terminal 'hub as I recall(?) in a Heavily Ventilated Plexiglass 'Room' that could fit around 20 people but I believe that it is now long gone. Interestingly, I flew with American Airlines (or was it Airways?) in 2005 and the plane must have been previously designated as a Smoking Plane!! The plane was pretty clean but its age was very telling plus *everything* had the distinct _Yellow_ of Tobacco Smoke! The only thing annoying about it was that the plane no longer allowed *Any* Smoking on board!

In 2010 I took a trip on a Shinkansen with a smoking car. Was nice. Even nicer was going to a McDonald's (just wanted to test some local burger variant) and realizing they had a smoking section. There I was, sitting in a McDonald's with a burger in one hand and a cigarette in the other. If I could've had a cold beer, it would've been Heaven.

Honest question: if you smoke only when you party heavily, which is like once every 2-3 months, how bad is that for you. Like let's say you buy pack cause you have 2 days of drinking, you smoke that pack within two days and then you don't smoke for 3 months. Only then do you buy another pack, when a party comes up. I know I'm gonna sound like a typical excuse making guy rn but it's not really a problem not smoking for me when I have no occassion (drinking). So how bad is it? Pack once every 3 months
