Great group and discussion. I could have watched another hour at least. Thanks to all involved.

OK Jay, Over the years watching your KZbin channel I've seen you go from your trusty Seiko Sportura Chronograph directly to an Apple watch, without a hint that you had anything more up market. Sporting an A. Lange & Sohne is a quantum leap much like parking your MX-5 and putting miles on a Singer 911. I think that was the point Herr Schmid was making also; that his watches are indiviudal works of art that can't be duplicated by machines.

Go back and watch old Tonight Show clips. You’ll see his Lange poking out.

Great discussion. I have small collection of watches, cars, books and instruments. I like the idea of being a temporary custodian of things permanency and quality. Anyway, hope to own a Lange one day!

I'm an old (77) car guy, very familiar with Jay and Donald. I used to wear a watch (By the way originated in WWI for officers in the trenches.) But as fascinating as the top grade mechanical watches are they are ridiculously expensive. So I have made do with the "21st century pocket watch" very nicely for some years now. Still the conversation is interesting, comparing different mechanical art works.

Good ol Jay Leno. He did his best - bless his heart. He got it exactly backwards describing the "ticking" of the second hand as the preferred mechanical watch and the "sweeping" of the second hand as the "cheap" watch. He tried - his hearts in the right place. Let's just hope A. Lange & Sohne isn't paying him.

Good Point 😂😂… but as you said his heart is in the right place. I just wish they showed the panelists timepieces

The Lange&Söhne CEO is unfortunately not correct concerning the invention of the quartz watch.Way before the CEH in Switzerland developed the first quartz watch to be put on a wrist, the actual invention was made in USA by Joseph W. Horton and Warren Alvin Marrison at the New York Bell Laboratories

I was really interested in Lange's Odysseus, but have since become very disillusioned with the antics associated by the brand for this never available model in their attempt to emulate Patek and Rolex.

Lange, you have adopted pretensions beyond your stature. Take heed, lest you fade into irrelevancy as your existing clientele "age out".
