Sonya, Hugo & Kirby, I'm nearly 75 and the three of you have breathed a new life into my sartorial journey. I'm waiting on my first MTM double-breasted suit. Being well dressed has helped me to maintain my weight and my health. I now weight what I weighted when I was in my twenties and I feel great. Thank you so much.

Of all the sartorial related channels, Hugo Jacomet is the king. Gentleman's Gazette is over the top, bordering on ridiculous the way they dress. Over doing it with accessories and bright colors, they end up looking like clowns. Kirby Allison is too stiff and formal, following rules to the tee, always wearing dark colors, and never really appearing comfortable in what he wears. Hugo Jacomet is the perfect balance of effortless cool, well made clothing, stylish, yet never over the top. The way he dresses is truly beautiful. Menswear perfected.

Exactly five years ago, I I discovered your channel for the first time. You were such an inspiration, that I decided to start my bespoke journey, and after five years I’ve got most of my wardrobe bespoke: from shirts, to jackets, to suits, to a cashmere coat. And I have recently met Sonya and Hugo in person. Thank you for what you do, Kirby.

@Big Van Vader At the age of 25, I've gone away from it, mostly. Wearing what children and teens are wearing just doesn't look right on me anymore. I still wear streetwear (which is normally too loose, I've now noticed since wearing suits and more tailored clothes) around the house (ironically), and on occasion. But I'm slowly getting rid of it. Plus, I really like how I look in a suit, cashmere, dress-shirt, and even a turtleneck (which is something I never thought I'd wear)

This is, without question, the best interview that you have ever done, Kirby. Some of the themes discussed in this interview resonate with me. Anticipation heightening the bespoke experience. The unique aspects of tailor/client relationship. And, the feeling that through bespoke, I am helping to preserve an art form. Simply brilliant. I have read Hugo’s articles for years and “Of the Obsolescence of Man” is a classic. Hugo is a philosopher. Another great, more practical article is: “Two Days in NYC: Where to Commission Suits.” Please do more with Hugo. It is a treat.

And, your observations re: the greatest generation, baby boomers, and Gen X, Gen Z, and millennials is onto something, though I think that most baby boomers (myself included) did not grow up with so much excess…I think it is the Gen Xers that in your words may be “searching for meaning.” However, the concept is spot on.

I agree ...I grew up with sportswear, tracksuits, trainers.....and only wore suits or more formal wear at interviews or weddings.....but discovering the sartorial world has opened my mind to the fact that you can get a bespoke suit which fits perfectly and accentuates your natural physique and you can walk around feeling like a million dollars.....same with shoes....same with shirts..... Really enjoying the journey and great to share it with you guys

Listen to these people for a few minutes and you will realize there is nothing "arrogant" or "stuck up" about them (a common comment by the masses regarding well dressed people). These three seem to be genuinely nice people with an appreciation for elegance, craftsmanship, and style. Something sorely missing from the mainstream these days, I'm sorry to say. I enjoyed the video (and have purchased things from Kirby in the past - a very pleasant experience).

As a small boy my mother dressed me in bespoke shoes and clothing. In school I would get made fun of because all of my garments were handmade vs everyone else wore store-bought (My parents didn’t wanna send me to a private school because of racism ). I did get compliments from teachers but I was sick of other kids picking on me so eventually I stoped dressing But Picked it back up again in my later adult years bringing everything full circle.

The whole conversation Hugo's rusty pocket square had my full attention and kept me smiling, even more when he started talking about it... 🙂 I have one myself and after watching one of Sonya's and his videos it just clicked on me: I have a black suit, but when wearing it, something just missed... Then Hugo said in one video, that a rusty pocket square can add so much when wearing a black suit - and so, I just tried it and... What shall I say? I now easily wear this suit with this simple rusty pocket square and I can wear it everywhere, not just at a funeral... 😉

Loved this conversation even though I'm a 71 year old woman. I'm a child of the 50s and remember when people dressed much better. On the point of knowing that you probably know the person that made your bespoke shirt or suit is the fact that, in the name of comfort and convenience, we now often forget the children or people in other countries who are making our clothes for pennies compared to what they sell for. Again, I'd love a woman's version of Kirby's videos.

I was fortunate to live near a bespoke shoe/boot maker, saved up, and purchased some. Suit-wise, I've never done MTM but, to economize, have had ready-to-wear suits finely tailored. To Hugo and Kirby's point about "pulling off" tie/color schemes, the present leg of my sartorial journey involves risk taking with colors and textures - so far it's been best part, learning from my mistakes and moving forward.
