I take my back-up stick to shoot 300-400 wristers with a puck that weighs 1.25 lbs ( 20 ozs ). It is time consuming but, the next day with a normal puck my wrist shot is a laser.

I wonder if he uses a stick a couple inches shorter for practicing in shoes rather than skates. For shooting and stick handling practice, I had a shorter stick to keep the relative distance the same.

Notice his shooting style is not taken from a stiff, solid stance, rather feet closer together, chest pointed directly at the goal. This allows shooting off balance to become effective. He let's the flex of the stick's shaft do the work.

when i was a kid my brother and i had a piece of plywood we used to shoot pucks off in our back yard at a fence. we eventually broke the fence and my folks didn't like that but we helped my dad fix it, he was most understanding.

Ha in the mid 2000s I played in a Las Vegas tournament and a retired Ludwig was on an opposing team. He was still rocking those enormous shinpads. I hope he donated those legends to the HOF

Nightmare for a goalie. He is significantly changing the position of the puck and immediately shooting. Goalies are taught to stay centered on the puck which is incredibly difficult when a shooter is doing that. Goalie would be moving side to side while he’s shooting.

Just wanted to add ontop of that you'll notice in actual games Bedards head is up all the time except for when he's shooting the puck right before he shoots the puck he looks down to shield his eyes and so goalies can't tell where he's planning on shooting.

Back in my day people didnt really pull the puck in towards their feet to shoot. Mathews and several others do it really well. I'm sure it messes with a goalies shot perception.

I used to practice with a 1 lb puck that I made from brass so it wouldn't distort and fall out. I had 19 hockey trophies at one point but I couldn't skate for s***. lol
