FF8 is still to this date my favourite FF. It was above everything else a mix of different types of love between men and women and the most mature of them so far. It went from puppy love to mature love depending on the couple. It still has the BEST by far FMV intro of any JRPG, best battle music, and yes, I did enjoy the draw system, it was cool and fun to OP characters with the magic system, still on the T-REX cage in the beginning of the game haha. Also, best space ship (Ragnarok rules).

Its amazing how many people don't realize FF8 its basically the ultimate version of the classical love story. "Undeserved love" - Squall to Rinoa "Idolizing love" - Rinoa to Seifer "Fraternal love" - Selphie to Trabians/main party "Self love" - Zell / Irvine "Sexual love" - Laguna to Julia "Complementing love" - Seifer to Edea "Motherly love" - Edea and the orphans "Adoptive love" - Raine to Ellone "Fatherly love" - Laguna to Ellone "Mature love" - Laguna to Raine Every theme in this game revolves around love and the many ways we have to show and express them. Its amazing.

Honestly Connor talking about when abilities aren't specific with their numbers drives me crazy too! "a slight chance to heal when you defeat an enemy" well what the heck does that mean?! It's actually gotten to the point where most of the time I won't bother using buffs or debuffs in a lot of RPG's because it's rarely specific.

The way I always describe FFVIII is: "not the greatest in the series, but my favourite". The junction system has its flaws, but the ATB system is the most dynamic until X-2, the characters are all memorable, there is a tonne of subtle world building throughout, it has one of the best soundtracks in the entire series, and is home to Triple Triad (frontrunner for greatest minigame of all time). Honestly I don't think there's a Final Fantasy game that is objectively the best, although I think VI and X probably come the closest.

Nah he just sends you down there "Idk what it does, but it might save us". That's not even the weirdest thing....monsters come from the moon which no one really talks about til disc 3...I would never not be talking about this. Jesus 8... @brennanlable Жыл бұрын
@@MrLightlike78 those are fair points however not everything needs to be exposition. the story wasn't about explaining the details of the world. the setting is just the setting. the story was about war orphans finding love. we don't need to know about the Centra. the context clues about Cid and Edea living near the old ruin at the orphanage and using their tech to both train and protect the orphans is enough imo. what we needed was more hints to the characters early relationships and the main villain's motivations.

ff8 is my favorite but it's objectively a pretty bad start. I think, if they did remake it, they'd have to overhaul the system. VIII was my first Final Fantasy and it was hard as a kid maybe 12 ish at the time, with how complicated the system was. I remember having to restart because I was stuck at the end of disk one where I couldn't beat Seifer. The game also incentivizes that you don't use the magic you draw because your stats will be lowered if you have that spell junctioned. This made it preferable to use certain limit breaks almost exclusively, aside from the occasional summon. Personally I really enjoyed ffVIII, the story was great, the world was vast, tons of cool things to find and puzzles to solve, I even enjoyed the gameplay and the junctioning system when I finally understood it, and there was definitely a challenge to it that made the game feel more balanced. I just think the complicated system doesn't translate well to the new generation of gaming. I would love to see a remake, just with some quality of life upgrades.

If you play fighting games the whole game is learning the mechanics. There's still new stuff to learn even 500 hours into playing. As you will find combos or mechanics that you dont need to win at low level versus but as you start to get better and face better and better people certain fundamental mechanics become increasingly important. There are sort of stage gates of skill levels. And you will only get so far in your climb until you learn certain mechanics to the point where it becomes a reflex or autonomous. Its all about building muscle memory and trying to controll your behaviours and habits, to play mindgames against your opponent. While also trying to predict and read their habits at the same time.

I think the problem is that it’s not the worst in general but the mechanic design is almost artificially complex, because when you get through a solid portion of the game you realize it’s not hard to understand but you also realize it wasn’t even necessary because if it was a little more intuitive people would have had so much more fun in the whole experience rather that just the last legs of the playthrough.

I think some JRPGs hide the numbers or percentage of buffs and skills and categorizar them as Slightly, Small, Medium, Big boost to something, because some values are based on conditions like attack increases based on how high the HP is. Maybe the devs don't want to show the values just to some static stats and hide to others stats. But i think they should at least show the critical chance, since the probability It adds can completely change how the player wants to do their builds

At the same time, though, you can get SILLY overpowered through junctioning, too. I think it has more potential for being brokenly OP than most other FF games.

he had to complete the most devisive, less explanatory Main line FF entry (Still my fav, but it did need more insight information), well at least he didn't play FFXV, that game is blue balled incarnate

Alot of people still play ff8 it has a fan base just enough to give a decent port slash remaster

As much as I love FF8, it is by far the most broken game in the series. It's like play testing and game design just went out the window with that one... The 2 best strategies they built in are to spam draw (which is boring and a massive waste of electricity) and to let your characters be near death all the time so you can spam skip turn until you fire off your overpowered limit breaks. The combat might as well not exist... Needs a full remake more than 7 ever did.

I agree it's a bit broken, but not in the way you mean. The draw function is literally useless in the game. You make your GFs learn the skill of turning cards into items, and items to magic. And you'll never need to use the draw, except to draw GFs from enemies. You can do this few hours into the game. Thats why you need just one of your characters to have draw in their skillset in boss battles, and only in boss battles. The rest of the time you just play cards (which I found fun), and turn the cards into stacks of spells which you junction. 10 year old me figured this out on my first playthrough when the game came out. Why this is broken, is bc you can get overpowered extremely early into the game, by having a full 100 of tier 3 spells junctioned onto your abilities. It would be easy to fix this: just get rid of draw (bc it's useless anyway), and introduce a mechanic where you buy spells with in-game money (or something similar). And make it so that the cards you turn into items don't generate such an insane amount of spells. That's it. Otherwise the mechanics are fine.

11:15 Connor complaining about a JRPG not fully explaining the effects of an equip item while he has played Fear and Hunger, infamous game known for not holding your hand while chopping your character's arm off at the same time if you're not prepared. JRPG's usually have a part of it where you're on your own and you have to figure it out for yourself. This equip item is just an element of that.

Anybody calling FF8 the worst one has played approximately 2 Final Fantasy gamed; 7 and 8. Not liking 8 is totally understandable but saying its worse than 2, 3, 11, 12, 13, 13-2 Lightning Returns, Original 14, and 15 is fucking wild Edit: on second thought it's also better than A Realm Reborn
@ivaanuner Жыл бұрын
cause it is the worst one next to ff2 and ff13 and i have played 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,10-2,12,13,13-12,14,15. So you said anyone calling this game bad cause they played like 2 games its the opposite they are people who like almost played every ff game calling that game bad. dumb comment and cope about it

I wouldn't really call FF8 the worst one out of the Final Fantasy games Personally. Out of the ones that I have played, the one that I would call the worst is definitely FF2. I mean good lord the grinding in that game makes constant Drawing in FF8 look like blitzing through a Sonic the Hedgehog stage. And I'm probably gonna make some geezers angry but I personally didn't care very much for FF4.
