A) Connor, as well as literally everybody else on the planet, backup your configs and data B) streaming and encoding is offloaded on the encoding chip (NVENC in NVidia's case) so it doesn't impact your gaming performance C) yeah kinda sucks that twitch limits you to 6 megabits per second, makes 1080p 60fps look awful, you should stream at 720p 60 or 1080p 30 (for slow pace game or just talking head) D) EposVox's OBS master class is a great resource to learn what dials to adjust to get good quality streams/recordings

The thing about going overboard with pixels is the smaller the pixel gets, the less light hits each pixel (talking about film, not games) and it can hurt things like low light and contrast. Contrary to the knee jerk thoughts about it, a balanced resolution like 1080p is really the ideal unless it’s going to be displayed on a wall-size TV at a close viewing distance and fine details are critical. Most people would be better off with an iPhone than a complicated camera they don’t understand and needs a crew to operate and edit correctly. If you aren’t shooting a literal movie with color grading and effects there’s no need. Lighting will get you much further than resolution past 1080p.

Connor's old pc seems to be having a power supply issue, as it would choke when its cranked up to 11. The symptoms included random black screens and crashes but will power on again later on. I bet nothing was wrong with it at all other than the power supply. But then again the man can afford a pre-build with a 4090 on it so....

With all the light Connor described that he uses, his videos in his room still look pretty dark. That's not a bad thing. You can see Connor clearly in them and the darkness could be a style thing which fits that room I think. It probably looks like he's shooting in a cave without those lights. Another KZbinr was pointing out the lighting that's needed and as part of his point he turned off the filming lights and just had regular room lights and he just about disappeared into the darkness.
@rangerreview1780 Жыл бұрын
Yeah. Camera's need a ton of light for you to see a room good. Or you raise the ISO to a stupid level. Which causes horrible grain. I need to put my 4k camera that I use for streaming to a minimum 3200 ISO. So it looks like it's day time in my room. One Elgato light won't do squat to light your room. And your own room lights will do jack all.

The truth is your average person cannot tell the fuckin' difference between 2k and 4k. Some will tell you they can but then you check the back of their T.V. and they aren't even using the right HDMI cable. So they THINK they're seeing 4k when they actually aren't. Or you put them in front of 5 T.V.'s and ask them to pick out the one that is displaying 4k. When I used to work at Best Buy we did this as a bet one day...9 out of 15 couldn't tell and 3 of those ppl who picked correct admitted to just guessing and getting lucky. The whole resolution game has topped out at 4k. Realistically you only need 2k, the resolution is high enough and after 4k you see diminishing returns for the outrageous price your paying. They only keep pushing resolution because it's a great marketing tool.
@FFXfever Жыл бұрын
I know quite a few people who can't even tell if a screen is higher than 1080p. I personally could only tell because of the text clarity. If it's watching a film or playing a game with upscalable text, I actually don't notice much difference as well. You're more likely to impress me with saturation and contrast than a resolution bump if they're not side by side.

What you gotta keep in mind about resolution is that it's a fix number. 4k is just as many pixel on a 27 inch screen or 77 inch TV. So what truly matters is PPI. 4k will become more and more common as time goes on and I expect 8k TVs to be the new norm in 12ish years, 16k within 2 years. But unless we're talking about insane wall-size and bigger for like malls and stuff, over 16k won't be needed. The real tech innovation to wait for is micro LED. Once manufacturers can start making it for cheap and for the mainstream, it's gonna be night and day. All the advantages of both OLED and Mini LED all in one, no disadvantage. Right now it's the former for gaming, the latter for work and a total of over 2k USD if you want both so it's unrealistic for most people.

I wonder if Connor checked his power supply wattage, if it was crashing at peak usage that’s a textbook power supply wattage issue. I also find some games break when running unlimited framerate, he should try running some version of adaptive sync or Gsync or whatever so it doesn’t try to run full tilt rendering more frames than he can even display.

I stopped caring about resolution at 1080. Don't get me wrong. Having the higher res, is beneficial. For the examples that Connor gave. It's also amazing for visual effects. But there will be ceiling. It also doesn't help that they keep doing the in between resolutions. Stop. Don't do 1440 etc. Just jump to 4K and 8K. I personally think consumer level will stop caring at 8K. Especially with streaming. Since the bitrate is already garbage as it is. It doesn't benefit it anymore. And since most people don't like discs. Why care to go higher. I use the 4k option on YT for the same reason. It has higher bitrate. So the video doesn't look like crap. Even though I have 1080 screen. The higher bitrate makes everything look like a bluray. Even though 4K's bitrate is really garbage on YT. His 12 hour stream is only 63 GB. 10GB more than a BD disc. That means the birate for 4k is like 10Mbps. When most native files use 100Mbps.

As a music and audio head I think.of TV resolution in the same way I think of audio signals. You never crank your audio source all the way. You keep it lower and crank the end of the chain whether it be mixer to amp or pc to monitors etc. That way.youre increasing the volume on a clean source rather than just amplifying a shitty distorted mess. 4k resolution is gonna look like crystal clear dog shit if the source you're working with is a distorted mess.
@MikeIsCannonFodder Жыл бұрын
Another thing to consider is 1080 was probably on a 30-40in TV, and 4K on a 50+in TV. 4K is probably a waste on a 40in TV.

I had this happen to me when I upgraded my Graphics Card a few years back and turned out the new card used more power than what my power supply could handle. For average consumer use 4k is probably the max that people would buy, unless 8k becomes a lot cheaper. The returns are diminished between 4k and 8k, I really can't tell the difference between the two and most difference just comes from the software used to create the image out of the information from the image sensor (imho) It's like going above 240hz. Average gamers can't even tell the difference between 144hz and 240hz, but pros can get a lot out of it. Going above 240hz isn't really important because our eyes can't take advantage of that higher refresh rate. I believe it's the same with cameras, with the only people interested in more detailed resolutions being editors or enthusiasts. I think higher zoom and low light photography is going to be the next focus for the average consumer and creator
@Drkbowers1 Жыл бұрын
That's not completely correct, most people can feel the difference between proportional increments of refresh rate. What I mean by that is doubling the refresh rate is always going to be noticeable. 30 to 60, 60 to 120, 120 to 240. It's just that after 240 it's going to get really expensive, you really only see 360 hz after 240 and even then that's not double, that's 50% more.
@greenjp779 Жыл бұрын
@@Drkbowers1 ah, my bad. I've never seen a screen above 240hz but I got me the returns were diminished a lot. I went from 144 to 240 and barely noticed a difference unless I played csgo

For future reference, if your OS (operating software) gets currupted again, you can choose to download your OS on a different drive. (Preferably a SSD.) When that's done, you can take practically everything from the old C drive and transfer it to the new C drive so that you can keep it all. (Just remember to put everything exactly as you found it and the pathings should work.) Then you can wipe the old C drive when your done!
