figured after the last vid a simpler review would be a good change of pace!

I've never bought a new game because of a KZbin video before. This has changed, thanks Connor!
@sonicmania99933 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this quick review of a game I've been looking forward to, maybe the first on KZbin? A nice review in general, letting us know how you felt playing the game, but I have a couple of critical comments: - Most importantly, you keep talking about A Hat in Time like this game is made by the A Hat in Time team. It is not. Gears for Breakfast is merely the publisher of this game, and the dev team who made the game is Frog Vibes from the Netherlands. From what I can tell this is their first game. Those looking for a polished product like A Hat and Time is today (after many version updates and patches) will be disappointed. - You mention that the game is coming out for Steam and Switch, but viewers should know that the Steam release is today (Aug 3), but the Switch release is coming "soon after" this Steam release. We still have no Switch release date. - I'm baffled by your comment that the game's $25 price is "about what you should be expecting to pay for indie games bare minimum these days". Do you buy many indie games? I've bought so many indies for Steam and Switch in the last few years, love to support indie devs, and follow indie sites all over the web -- but I am very surprised by this $25 price. Similar games usually sell for $15-20 or less, and out of the several hundred indie games I've bought that are similar in scope to Here Comes Niko!, I would say I've paid $25 or above for only five or ten of them. For me, $25 is the bare *maximum* that we should expect to pay for such games when they are digital-only. (By the way, I would be happy to pay $30-35 for this game on a physical Switch cartridge.) Some goty-level indies like Dead Cells or Hades open digitally for $25, but Here Comes Niko does not seem like a goty-level indie (though I really want to play haha!). Foregone opened at $30, immediately realized their mistake because no-one was buying at that price point, so in less than three months their standard price (not sale price) was reduced to $20 ... plus occasional sales. A Hat in Time has managed to do well priced at $30 (with *very* frequent $15-$18 sales, which is when most of us bought it), but they are the exception to the rule. I imagine that publishers Gears for Breakfast encouraged this high price-point, and are already planning the same kind of frequent $15-18 sales. I don't encourage people to pay $25 and up for overpriced digital-only indie games, when there are so many great games out there to play. I really want to play Here Comes Niko! But if I can be patient, I am going to wait for Switch, and wait for the first sale price at $20 or less.

@@EpixGaminginc What a dumb insult. It is obvious from my long post that I spend a ton of money on games. I am also personal friends with several indie devs, and these guys think long and hard about pricing. At any rate, I stand by my points re: the pricing of digital-only indies. I buy on average 10-20 indie games every month, so I know fair prices for the different genres quite well. I feel that Gears for Breakfast may have miscalculated how this game will do at that $25 digital-only price point (the same price that Hades and Dead Cells opened at originally ... Do you think this is a Hades/Dead Cells level game?). As I said, I'd be happy to pay $35 for a physical copy of Here Comes Niko! As it is, I'll wait for that $18-20 sale price, which I expect to see around Christmastime.

@@sonicmania9993 lmao - reread your paragraphs on why the game shouldn't cost 25$, they're nothing but rude and tactless. Far too heated over 5 dollars.

I saw that Gears published the game and there were frogs, so I immediately bought it. Even before the gameplay, the opening dialogue with Pepper had me sold. I'm playing through it now and it's an absolute blast. Might just hit my Top 10 list.

When I saw Gears had a new game coming out, I was so excited, man. And I am happy to say this game rocks. (Just like Niko in Turbine Town) Visually, it's one of my favorite game, definitely evoking the Wind Waker vibe I love, creating a cute, playful energy. The music, my god the music. It's so pleasent and happy, and perfect for studying it reading. The gameplay is great for me, as I am a big collectathon guy, and Niko controls like a dream. I haven't beaten the whole game, and this haven't experienced the whole story, but thus far, it seems a lot deeper than I thought, without any spoilers. Easily a new favorite of mine. Check this game the hell out
