This is great content. I have torn my supraspinatus twice from boxing, and spent years going through physio/chiro/massage with limited improvement. Once I started treating the issue more holistically and working on good alignment from my feet all the way up, I was able to create the foundation to actually be able to benefit from those physio exercises.

@conorharris You say that limited internal rotation is a result of tightness in the anterior ribs/pecs. But then you show a lat stretch - which is surely on the back. I'm confused. Could you un-confuse me, please.

Hi Connor, love your stuff. I have a quick question that’s possible I have Bilateral fully torn rotator cuffS I am currently pre-surgery and desperately wanting to avoid at my age (62) tell me what is going on when I have tricep, bicep and forearm tension and pain. both during mobility, and sitting still
@amonn129 ай бұрын
Doubt you'll see this but I would like to start doing some of your stuff but wouldn't know where to start. My right shoulder is messed up which is now causing an impingement. There is like a big ball right at the top of my collar bone. In the back I am numb right at the shoulder blade. If I am sitting in my car and move that shoulder a bunch of popping happens in it right at the shoulder blade. When I try doing high to low rows I get a pain in my lat and a pop that feels like the lat got stuck on my rib cage. I went to the doctors and spent 3000 dollars for them to just worry about my neck and I got an MRI and they said I have a pinched nerve in my neck and tricep. I go for consultation for my surgery that they suggested and the surgeon said it is not warrant surgery and there must be more going on in my back/shoulder blade area. I spent so much money and none of the doctors listened and only cared about my neck that I have not gone back to get any thing checked. Does this sound like anything that can just easily be fixed? I can't even do incline bench with dumbbells. If I do flat if I grab anything lower than 60 pounds it hurts the arms. Also my right side definitely is more forward.
@amonn129 ай бұрын
@ephelesfrance7006 it is difficult to explain because I am getting pain in multiple areas. When I do these tests where you lay and see where you have issues in flexibility I actually pass for both. But if I try that while standing I can't externally rotate up. But when on the floor I can. So that's why I don't know where to begin
@amonn129 ай бұрын
@ephelesfrance7006 thank for the reply and link. When I do these I feel pain at my shpulder/rear dealt area like the stretch hurts the muscle. That's why I sort of think I have something torn as well as the issues being stated.

How long ago was your mri? I had one 17 years ago when I was a teenager and all they could see was inflammation fluid, no reason why. Physical therapy and ultrasound therapy did not help and it’s continued to worsen as I’ve aged to the point I can’t use my fine motor skills in my dominant hand/ arm without extreme pain that last for weeks.
@alexbonesjones75709 ай бұрын
I’m telling you guys this pri stuff is the missing link. I’ve had ongoing issues with my shoulder as well. When you have these joint problems that seemingly spontaneously arose, an mri will only show you symptoms of your problem. To understand why this is happening you can’t look at your joint in isolation, you need to see it as part of a whole complex movement system. You need to identify your movement pattern issue, and then re educate your body how to move in unison without putting stress on your problem area. Controlled progression with baby steps will get you where you need to be.

It might mean that you have a weak serratus anterior and/or weak subscapularis muscle as well...planks would be a good exercise to help with it...shoulder protraction is what you might be looking for but it might not be the complete solution to your problem just the start in my opinion. (Just as a guess).
@Chris-df5gc9 ай бұрын
could be the right rotation of the thoracic thats right. but I dont think so . I would guess its the weak serratus and the tight traps and pec minor

I'm considering the shoulder program for some time now. I am one month after my PRP injection on long head bicep tendon. Now I know it wont be a specific therapy for that, but since the injection I feel the tendon way more in variety of movements, especially overhead. Do you @Conor Harris think it might be a good idea to start this program? I have a typical climber posture and that's probably the root cause of my proglem. Or do you think the body restoration program would be better?

Try the 90-90 side breathing. That's a good place to get the hang of each side one at a time. (It's the same as the 90-90 breathing, but on your side. :)

Other than the small amount of clients and athletes with a military posture (too much thoracic extension and a flat cervical spine). There is already way too much thoracic flexion in the average person sitting at a desk, looking over a computer all day so I don’t understand how these exercises are going to help their shoulder health!?!
