as a physiotherapist and also personal trainer i definitely aprove of this routine, love it. it's a shame that a lot of people think "back and down" is the only right movement for schoulderblades during training... greetings from austria 💪🏻

Love it! Yes the back and down thing caught on so much and people can interpret it so badly, we have to be so careful as trainers with cues as sometimes we think we have a great one and it doesn’t accurately describe what we’re actually doing at all 😂 thanks so much for your support! 🙏

Another fantastic video! I have a shoulder impingement on the right side. These videos on your channel and Move-U have helped immensely. I think I just did too much pushing motion with my right arm from work. Many years of aligning cars and trucks. The vehicle is about 36" high and standing near the left rear tire pushing them forward and rolling them backwards over developed that pec and front of shoulder muscles. I need to work opposing muscles now. Thank you for the awesome videos!

I was diagnosed with Rotator cuff tendinopathy back in Dec/23, the doctor recommended physiotherapy sessions, as everything was closed due to holidays I decided to look up on KZbin. I was doing hanging exercise in the bar (which I think helped) + the silly exercise in the beginning of the video😅 when I found this video I noticed a huge improvement. Gratitude ❤. The exercises are great and although I'm not 100% yet I feel more strength and the pain is almost gone (to me the shoulder rotation is more effective if performed hanging in the bar). Many thanks all the way from Brazil. Will post and update when I'm 100% Haven't gone to physiotherapist yet😂

Torn stuff (both some completes and partials) both sides from accidents (cycling and skateboarding). I can do everything, but some of these can cause my shoulder to dislocate (especially the 3rd movement). I will say that exercises that sometimes cause problems are actually the best tools if you can progressively work on range and/or weight. You have a built in diagnostic to measure progress. You just have to make sure not to let your mind write checks your body can't cash. 😂

6:01 The DB shoulder rotation works the external rotation of shoulders, right? I need to train internal shoulder rotation also. What would you say a good exercise for that is?
@TomMorrison
@TomMorrison Ай бұрын
Why do you need to train internal rotation is a question you need to ask really, if you can turn your thumb all the way down in internal rotation there isn’t really a restriction, most issues just come from overall weakness or other things around the shoulder not moving properly. Over the years I have completely came away from needing direct internal/external work for shoulders in favour of upper back opening and these drills so it’s worth the shift, your shoulders are already incredibly mobile, they need strengthened with large range movements that have resistance and load
@Andreas_Lund
@Andreas_Lund 9 ай бұрын
How would you recommend to implement this program with a regular training program? Should i do these before/after my regular resistance training or split the two completely, for example gym in the morning these rounds at night?

These look so simple and I think I can rotate my shoulders quite well, but still I cannot do even the first exercise well, nor the one with the rubber band without stretching the band really a lot. There is some slight pain in certain movements, like my shoulder muscles would need some lubrication. I probably need to see a physiotherapist to unlock the shoulders as I’ve had issues with them for 20+ years. My left shoulder blade doesn’t move like the right one. Or how fast could you expect a change if doing these regularly to the degree I can do them?

The dog pulled my shoulder going after a cat late last summer and it still hurts😩. I’m assuming it’s the rotator cuff, seems to be the front, though initially it was the whole shoulder and up the next and across the chest. I’m going to add these exercises to my daily yin yoga and see how it goes. But keeping my arms straight while rotating my shoulders 😵‍💫, how the hell is it possible? Lol. Amanda. Xx

just a warning: a couple of days ago I tried the around the head dumbbell rotation with 5kg, and on the upward movement in front of the head I had a momentary subluxation of the should. pretty painful, but now after a few days it seems to be getting better. moral of the story -- yes, do really start with 1kg, even if you think you have fairly strong shoulders, and have never had issues with them.

Stumbled upon this channel from other mobility videos and I just saved a ton of your videos to my Watch Later playlist! First off the exercises in this video alone are ones I've picked up sporadically from other channels, and they've all helped me with my shoulder health tremendously, but I'm sure I'd have gotten better results had I just stumbled onto your video first! As well, I went through a lot of your other videos and really dig the accessibility and effectiveness of the exercises, while the routines and frequency of performing them are all right there! And of course the humor and accessible vibes you have is just icing on the cake. You've definitely earned another subscriber!

What I find shocking is the amount of people who think cortisone injections are the answer. They basically mask your body’s way of telling you something isn’t right and you need to fix the mechanics of your shoulder. So a lot of people do this and carry on with bad habits and no strengthening and then they tear their rotator cuffs.
@TomMorrison
@TomMorrison 2 ай бұрын
Yeah, usually you’ll see people “get away with it” 2 times and on the third it barely lasts at all and the issue is way way worse because the cause was not addressed, it’s so strange it’s recommended so much

Tried a round of this today. Have had grinding on the top pf my right shoulder for about a month now. Most likely from over doing it with older conventional lifts also have been doing the older PE teacher stretches before and after but since eased back, especially the over-the-head tricep garbo stretch(do not ever do). 3rd, I think I may not have been variating the lifts enough from session to session. Dawn of a new day! So far so good! Thanks!
