Yesterday on my driving lessons, my instructor said my hazard perception and awareness was razor sharp with my commentary driving that I even spotted hazard much further away and quicker than him. He was sipping and enjoying his cup of tea in the car during the lesson which is a good sign. Good luck to me.

There's a double mini-roundabout near where I used to live in Rainham (Kent!) and on one lesson I took the first exit then the second to stay on the main road. I was steering round the second one and the instructor misjudged where the car was positioned, thinking I was more right than I was and took control of the steering... just enough for us to bump the kerb. Everyone makes mistakes at times. James is doing well - it's a shame Emily couldn't have more lessons with you, she was great but that's what happens sometimes when life gets in the way!

I've been watching since about December, and learning since mid January now . I've got my theory booked for the 21st of this month, but I still find these videos helpful, especially this one because I also get confused at mini roundabouts sometimes. There's one we've done a few times now with 2 literally on each other, it's such a weird experience to drive on because there's a bit of a void between the two of them where there's a give way line, and on top of that it's a really tight space too. In general, I think watching other people learn has been very beneficial overall, and I'm lucky to have an instructor who is as chill and instructive as you are.

We have a double mini roundabout by me, my first instructor never really explained it properly so i hated it. My new instructor broke it down really well and said it’s essential 2 single mini roundabouts joined up, and to tackle them one at a time, we drove a loop around it a few times and I’m a lot more comfortable with it now

Good job, well done. The various roundabout layouts are quite typical, and as shown many of the painted ones are in odd places in liue of T junctions, in such a way that they can’t really be driven round as if they were raised surfaces, even in cars (and not at all in PSVs etc). Sometimes it’s worth being aware of the local practice in some places as well. There are often those who might apparently nip out in front, perhaps with mistakenly guessing the timing of other things. Occasionally in heavy traffic it can be useful to negotiate with opposite direction moves to let them take precedence to assist the flow as well, rather like T junctions where someone wants to turn right in the opposite direction. No point in racing through just to join the queue.

Although the HC says we MUST drive around the central disc of a mini roundabout, some of the mini roundabouts in the Kingswood Bristol test area are poorly laid out and avoiding the central disc will make approaching vehicles believe you are taking the second exit straight on instead of the third exit right and pull out in front of you, despite your clear signal. On these, we take a 'natural path' to not mislead other vehicles. I've never had a single driving fault on test for doing this.

At the start, you came out of Bourne Road to Mersea Road. Up Mersea Road, past the newly demolished BP station (and yes, it's a nightmare roundabout because of the BP exit) then up to the Mersea shops, complete with additional shop exit AND the zebra crossing. The BP garage, btw, will be rebuilt with a M&S store, so that junction will only get worse. Then down Berechurch Hall Road, past the street where I live and over those unnecessarily large roundabouts when I'm sure the minis would do. At the end of BH Road are those dodgy pot holed roundabouts (now sorted) then down Gosbecks and Straight Road. This is a nice easy one - it's basically taking me to work. And as for Straight Road - the weird thing about mini roundabouts is that sometimes you actually don't drive around them.... 'Old' Dom is doing really well at work btw - he recently scored a big order for the store. And he's also got the car fixed and is driving to work. He said how generous you were as an instructor - I just wish my instructor had been as good as you are - I might not have taken 5 attempts to pass...

Still only 50% thru the video… Just a couple of little things.. Some of the painted dot roundabouts are retro fitted into what were junctions + the junction entrance & exit not modified…a number of these where I live can’t be driven around due to space, even in say a fiesta….the only ones that might do it are the smart for two. When approaching & entering a roundabout, use a wide view to check everything….dont target fixate on one car to your right. With bigger not-so mini roundabouts, people will go right the way round. Some not-so mini roundabouts have hedges or whatever on them blocking your diagonal view….so watch for cars going right the way round. And with all, some people will pull in front of you from the left….even tho they should stop for you. Nice to see the progression thru that video. Good flow toward the end and good anticipation with the obstructed crossings.

@@Mr.Agnostos The smallest "roundabouts" appear to have been originally "T" junctions where 3 roads meet. I assume that years later it was decided that traffic flow would be improved by applying the "give way" rules of a RA. I suppose the authorities did not have the budget to properly rebuild the junction as a RA. It is a learning experience for drivers to realise that these tiny RAs don't have the space to be used correctly.
