I think your video is a pretty good summary of knife's edge and chimneys notch was definitely the most challenging

It’s hard to believe that you don’t have very many comments as you filmed it very well. I’ve hiked that in both directions and it never gets old watching others doing it.

So can’t wait to hike Katahdin. We couldn’t get camping this year, next year I’m nailing the dates down. We did Mount Washington though and in September we’re doing Mount Lafayette so we’re getting the peaks in.

Plan to do Katahdin this year, would you recommend going up or down the Knife Edge?
@EpicRnR Жыл бұрын
I would suggest going up the Cathedral Trail to Baxter Peak, go across the Knife Edge and head back down the Helon Taylor Trail.

nothing deadly about it.Granted knife edge will scare the hell out of you but it's not a deadly trail i think that reason that it's not as deadly as it could be is because the BSP rangers have the authority to close the mountain if they believe that it's unsafe to climb
@EpicRnR4 ай бұрын
It’s definitely scary, and can be deadly if you don’t watch your footing, but it’s all perspective. Happy hiking!

Nice video, but just to help her others, there is nothing deadly about the knife edge in Katahdin and don't let this video or other ones stop you from doing this. There is a reason why there are so few deaths on this mountain despite so many people doing the knife edge, and it is because these videos make it look way more sketchy than it really is. Are there parts where you would be seriously injured or die if you fell off the side, sure, but steep drops are limited and there is plenty of land mass to support you. If you really want a knife edge, look up something like Capitol peak in Colorado, and the number of deaths are so high no surprise because it is a real knife edge.

The Knife Edge is dangerous, and should be taken seriously if you so choose to hike across it. The weather can change without notice, and you have to watch your foot placement with every step. Be safe out there guys!
@fraudpolice4603 Жыл бұрын
@@EpicRnR For sure I agree with your statement, but something like weather makes all mountains above a certain height dangerous. That's not my point, my point is that the knife edge is not as much of a knife edge as most videos make it out to be. I hiked the knife edge a few weeks ago and was surprised by how wide it was.
@annaaron351027 күн бұрын
C'mon it ain't "deadly". Some scrambling (without the fearsome music BTW ). No macho stuff...it's a hike. The real danger is portraying it as "deadly". Real danger is weather, your fitness, and the attitude to show and tell as an epic. Give us a break. Done it many times.

The Knife Edge is no joke, and I certainly wouldn’t want anyone hiking it without looking up the risks. It can and has taken lives.
@annaaron351026 күн бұрын
@@EpicRnR No lives have been "lost" on the Knife Edge EXCEPT under severe weather. Users' error, not the trail.
