I really like how you give a few strong suggestions to get the creative juices flowing and leave it at that. EDH, in my opinion, is just as much about creative expression and thematically cohesive design as it is about winning and having fun. I’m going to build this deck with your core and my ingenuity. Thanks!

Honestly, I've been putting off building Trostani for years. I just couldn't find a way to make him different. Thanks so much for this different take on the deck! I'm interested in seeing where you take this!
@WildcardZwei6 жыл бұрын
As a recent subscriber, I am extremely impressed by how different of a take this is for Trostani compared to the likes of our beloved Professor Brian's Trostani EDH. I like that you make decks like I do; by going against the norms of Magic. Your videos on Grenzo and Shattergang Brothers inspired me to build Jund Goblin Reanimator with Vial Smasher and Ikra Shidiqi swapping with Shattergang, because most Shattergang decks go in the toolbox route, letting Krenko and Wort capture all the multicolor Goblin love. Thank you for being a straight-forward and inspiring mtg youtuber. I look forward to more of your lists and decks.

I hope you named the deck something like: Goth trostani. On a side note my friend sent me this after I mentioned I was working on an unconventional Selesnya, this video was very insightful to some potential options for my deck.

I will definitely play this! Personal favorites of mine may involve more straight reanimation (of which white actually has a ton) but regardless I love it!
@shilohartisan5 жыл бұрын
This is pretty much the deck I built, have been building for a long time. We have the same pet cards! Blade of Selves is my fav card in the game. Bramble Sovereign (also, have you considered Minion Reflector??? ) making tokens of Ulvenwald Hydra.Terastodon, Thragtusk, Sun Titan, (have you tried Nylea's Colossus?) with Panharmonicon for extra ETBs. Using Greater Good to sac myriad tokens for value. Soul Foundry. This is exactly what I was doing. I never thought to reanimate tokens though. I briefly considered a naya shell so i could run Feldon of the Third Path but didn't go that route. I had never heard of Seance until now. I'll have to try that out! I actually started this project as an Abzan deck because I love Siege Rhino but really there is no Abzan commander that is make for flicker/duplicate. I hope they have one someday. I was using Reyhan and Tymna, although adding blue would make it more powerful with Reyhan/Ishtai. (Did you know Reyhan + Blade of Selves = 21/21 commander swinging for lethal?) Anyway, I switched it all over to Trostani because she's doing what I wanted to do: make huge tokens of things that never should have been tokens. I never understood why people use the populate mechanic on small tokens, or even big vanillas. I'm like "you could be populating Terastodon!" I think that at first people thought it was a Rhys the Redeemed thing where you populate ALL tokens? if that were the case then sure, go wide with little dudes. But that's not what populate is. Huge worms, or even Phyrexian Processor tokens aren't interesting at all to me, they're just big vanillas. I'd rather have a small thing with an ETB like Reclamation Sage or Wood Elves than an 8/8 vanilla. I get the Synergy with Processor and Trostani though. I wouldn't actually cut it, i'm just saying I like populating more interesting things than vanillas. I don't love your angels other than Restoration. Emeria Shephard would be awesome but costs too much to cast IMO. I'm thinking of trying out more flickers like Lumbering Battlement, Flickerwhisp, Fiend Hunter, Felidar Guardian. but right now I don't have room for them. (Imagine though, populating a Lumbering Battlement token ,which himself had exiled the original Lumbering Battlement, to bring back the first Lumbering Battlement, which exiles the populated token....and flickering ALL your creatures in and out and in and out for max ETB value!) I do recommend Minion Reflector. Nylea's Colossus. possibly Temur Sabertooth. Nacatl War Pride. And I really like Quest for the Holy Relic to find my Blade of Selves or Helm of the Host. I like Rhox faithmender which I see in yoru video but he isn't in your tappedout list did you decide you don't like him? Looking at your list, I really only see God Pharoah's Gift and Seance that can make tokens from GY. I'm going to steal the Seance Idea, but GPG seems pretty expensive. I wonder if it would be worth taking it out and maybe some other GY stuff to focus more on ramp and tutors? Anyway, we had the same idea and built the same deck so that's pretty cool :) I'll steal a few of your ideas and see how they go. Keep having fun! And remember, enemies are just friends who are salty from having been eliminated. :)

Don't forget to pack a full stack of post-it notes and blank proxy cards to keep track of all your tokens (some of which are randomly 4/4s and black)

Man I love playing Trostani. During one of the commander tournaments at my lgs I did lose the game but it was to commander damage against Edgar markov. He gave his creatures flying and no matter how many times I populated my phyrexian processor tokens (gaining 40 life per in the process) I didn’t have the means to win as easily. Aetherflux reservoir was blown to bits lol. Oh well I just love playing it when I can gain so much off it.
@Orville1176 жыл бұрын
a friend plays this kind of deck. but he added blue and all the myriade creatures. pretty cool when u use rite of replication on a myriade creature xd. did u consider sundial of the infinite to end the turn when the end of turn sacrifice/exile trigger is on the stack?
@claytonleal79476 жыл бұрын
Also riftsweeper + seance + populate seems like a great way to always be able to grab your goodies back from exile. First trigger grabs itself back second one grabs whatever else was exiled. Effectively making each wincondition infinitely abusable

Oh yes, Riftsweeper is in my list ;)

can you do a video on Daxos or vorel of the hull clade. I currently having my Daxos be equipped with artifacts and enchantments, and then using tough low costing creatures as blocks. With Vorel it's all about 1/1 counters. do you have any tips for some you is on a budget.

What about teneb the harvester, you know how to play him to the best effect. The strategy i have right now, it to play low costing creatures and artifacts for mama ramp, and then use spell to get creatures that cost 7 or more into the graveyard, and use teneb to bring them back. I also run a hand full of cards that put stuff in the graveyard and give me tokens. have any tips?

So, the way I'm reading this decktech, your win con is big dudes, and your back up is the reservoir. I want this to be good, but it seems slow and very combat-based for something with such a high curve.
@anxez6 жыл бұрын
I have an ask, a backwards ask, and it revolves around one of my favorite cards: Relentless Rats How would you build a deck that heavily features the presence of Relentless Rats? It's fine if you don't find that interesting or come up with any great ideas (or simply don't like building commander decks around cards that aren't the commander), but I find this topic kind of interesting, because the rats aren't really a good EDH card by any means, but they do present a unique design challenge when you force yourself to build decks other than "35 swamps, 63 Rats, Sidisi, Thrumming Stone". Especially since the Rats don't immediately suggest any direct color identity or strategy, but they do heavily influence includes into the deck.
@ZackChess16 жыл бұрын
Are you planning on making any Top 10 EDH videos ever again? I really enjoyed those videos. Love your content none theless though :)
