I was in PNW 3 weeks ago and we were at the exact same place on Bethel Ridge! I was up from Texas visiting kids, took my son in law on his first Overlanding adventure in his Stock F350. Same here #1 most favorite overland channel! Michael has Inspired my gf and I to get out with our new Tacoma and explore anywhere and everywhere. We even made the 820 mile trip north from Auburn California to hurricane ridge and enjoyed the amazing views above the peaks with some French press coffee and did some offroading along with a good deal of hiking. Truly such an inspiring and motivating channel 🙂

@ConquestOverland

Excellent question, that is single handedly the hardest battle with our climate here. I try to dry the tent out any chance I can after a trip whether at home, at work, or even finding covered parking (if it’s still raining...) I have found that using a leaf blower helps to repel off most water and even have used a hair dryer to speed up the process... 😆 I’m all ears if I’m missing a better opportunity as we only get sunshine 4 months out of the year here and my camping schedule is for all 12 👍

A fan lives in WA as well! I want to start the off road exploration within the state but cannot decide between mid size and full size trucks. Based on your experience, is full size truck too big for most WA off road trails?
@ConquestOverland
@ConquestOverland 3 жыл бұрын
Yes and no, it really depends how you want to use the truck overall. If technical trails are you thing then a mid size truck will be better suited, if not then a full size will do just fine. I've seen trucks of all kinds on the trails and they seem to do okay, though trail trophies (tree branches scraps) will play a big factor with a full size rig.

Curious if you went & if so, what you thought. I find the tree maze after the Ridge to be quite tight When I'm with my 5th Gen 4Runner friend I watch his truck get the cr@p scratched out of it. Personally, I don't think I'd take a full size there though I think technically, a full size can run the whole WABDR. As a side note, you can go see Bethel Ridge and than back track a little bit to the bypass. Michael shows the only good view you'll miss and after the mud rut forest maze it's talcum power dust

I would highly recommend airing down.

I would agree, definitely air down for a trail such as this. Not so much because of terrain difficulty but more so for ride comfort. Your suspension and time spent in the driver's seat will thank you 😉 👍

airing down will also significantly reduce your risk of a tire puncture

@@ConquestOverland It also reduces your risk of puncture, and tears up the trail less. Airing down is definitely one of the ways to tell those with experience. I get lazy and don't do it sometimes - it's bad form

In our crowded trails through dense forest, it's a smart safety measure to run lights - especially with all the newbies out there driving too fast. Amber does a good job of cutting through our forest and catching your eye.

Cleanwaste Toilet is probably the most popular. Personally, I bring ours back as there's just too many people out on the trails these days - my number one complaint is all the feces and toilet paper in the woods.
