I love the metaphor about the bright light from sun obscuring the subtle light from the stars in the sky similar to the way that the light of high level cognitive awareness obscures the subtler layers of subconscious. Bernard calls those layers “rooms in the palace of the mind”👌🏼 Brilliant

I did a lot of nodding between minute 26 and 27 where you explain what that 'in between' mental state feels like. Earlier in my meditative practice I also felt like I could call it 'falling asleep' but over time you start to realise that you're not asleep, but your not awake either and it really does feel like another 'mode' of consciousness. So cool to hear you describe it so well!

Perhaps you're describing a sort of trance or hypnotic state. If what you mean is the sensation of going in and out of consciousness, or sort of skipping forward in time, with brief sections that feel blank. This can happen when listening to hypnotic music, but I've also experienced it during meditation.

I have a practice (on KZbin) I have found extraordinarily beneficial, using the power of my mind. Usually, from our perspective, we don't see the ways we change the world. If we do, we are unsatisfied because we cannot win the lottery or create world peace, but sometimes we can see the motion our perspectives generate and it looks mighty different from our desires, but there it is.

35:43 The power of thought AND emotion when combined, may actually have a larger impact on the external reality then you may think, Bernardo. However, just because you may not want war, there are obviously people and groups of people that do. I hypothesize that it is the overall energy, conscious and unconscious that creates this consensus reality. And, ha, do you really believe that everyone is super happy inside? I mean, how many people are on antidepressants? Much of this perceived reality comes down to unconscious programming (I do see an 'awakening' happening [at least within myself], and things are becoming more conscious). Edit: Whether attempting to manifest something for yourself or the greater collective is seen as good or bad, is one thing. But let us not pretend that we (including you) are not doing this on some level, e.g., wanting to manifest a new book that you author. Love you

I think Bernardo thinks at a level of genius. I agree that nature isn’t capable of Metacognition , but there is no way to know if the Cosmos is capable of Meta cognition . If you enlarge your own metacognition it’s not hard to see that we are on a very low rung of consciousness , we can’t see higher than one or two rungs above us . Thanks for the stimulating content , I suspect that in years to come Bernardo will have a different and higher view ❤️

My nephew had experienced Remote Viewing. He was able to see a place that he has never seen before. And was verified by his girlfriend. The place he had seen was his girlfriend 's place of work that he had not been to. My nephew was able to see the size of the room, the color of his girlfriend's co worker's sweater. And right after the experience, he called her. She and her co workers actually were just talking about having goose bumps and told each other that it felt like someone else is in the room. That is remote viewing in a nutshell💯 BTW, this happened to my nephew after a graveyard shift he had from the night before, he woke up after a few hours of sleep, still tired and laid back down. So, he is in between Sleep state and Awake.. that sweet spot they call Theta Waves

I’ve only begun watching this interview; the barriers to understanding may be linguistic in nature. I had to draw a dichotomy between “consciousness” and “awareness”. Being new at this, I’m meditating on “awareness as meta conscious”, or something; the brain science of the prefrontal cortex covers that aspect which governs behavioral anomalies of those with brain damage losing certain moral and ethical guardrails vs the “normal brain”. When we say “the lights are on, but no one’s home”, we’re speaking of consciousness without awareness. These can be as simple as the distinction between the curious and the incurious. But while we cannot lay a rule on the subconscious, we can observe the collective consciousness quite easily. This is fascinating stuff, and I hope I learn something here today…

You get three minutes into being awake, only to realize you're actually still sleeping. Then you wake up and three minutes later realize this is also still a dream! Sometimes it takes up to 10 times of false awakening to get to actually waking up in real life. It's pretty trippy waking up and getting out of bed several times in a row and each time being convinced at the onset that this time you're actually awake, only to then realize you're still dreaming.

Bernardo Kastrup could take a look at Nick Bostrom's study of 'AI Creation and the Cosmic Host'. Bernardo Kastrup's more metaphysical approach is juxtaposed with Nick Bostrom's purely physical approach to defining existence. Both show a sheer depth in their immense, vastly comprehensive thought structures that is staggering. Is the cosmos that huge? As an individual in my apartment in a small country house, I don't get to see any of it. Through my window I see part of the surrounding landscape, I see trees, hedges and grass. Changes their personality completely. However every psychiatrist we talked with say it is impossible and should not have any effect. I always wonder if it is placebo or not, but if they accidentally take a little more than needed that will make them aggressive and agitated for a few hours, so I presume the drug works. This happens every now and then because they have to cut the pill with a knife to get their dose right and that’s not very accurate. To give you a sense of how small their dose is: one pill lasts 3-4 months. Psychiatrist usually prescribe them one per day.

Time stamp 1:42, how can we see without our eyes? We do this. Our eyes are very limited. It's a small % of the picture we see when we open our eyes in the morning. It's our imagination piecing our memories of the room along with the clues our eyes or giving us. Our eyes are precise in that small % and that's enough to survive. But is it a stretch to say it's possible to use the other clues to form a mental picture? And there is a claim of blind sight. So I think these examples as well as many others leave this a possibility.

The indian mathemetical genius Ramanjuan wrote theorms that described the reality of blackholes decades before their existence was predicted. His ideas were so advanced even for contemporary mathematicians of his time as well as hundreds of his theorems are now the research thesis for present day maths scholars. Yet he attributed all of his ideas to the godess Namagiri who he worshipped and who gave the ideas in his dream. He also said that an equation has no meaning unless it expresses a thought of god. Very profound. This suggests all ideas and possibilities always exist and is expressed through the consciousness in various forms. Humans merely absorb and transmit. There is a full fledged intelligence at work of which we are also a part and we need to recognise, respect and be aligned with it.

What he says about the Law of Attraction is very real, how it has a side of bringing "undeserved" guilt and responsibility, for making wrong associations of facts that occur and that were caused by you... This can even lead to psychological problems, depression, neurosis and others... Since the law of attraction was popularized (they say it was with the host Oprah), many see it as something magical, a magic solution, but if we think about it, it mainly serves the ego, we have to be careful on that. People use it like that. So, as he says, to keep asking and asking, as if we know everything and only for our pleasure, we are acting by the ego. Of course, everyone wants the best, but we don't know everything. It's better to trust in a higher power and for things to happen because they have to, or because it's something we need at that moment for some reason. Like that phrase that says God writes straight with crooked lines. Who hasn't gone through an experience (I have) that at first seemed bad, negative, but then something good, positive, came from that? Like the classic example of missing the flight and the plane crashing, having an accident... Something to think about...
@BrianBearButler2 күн бұрын
@@carollima20 I find this very interesting and want to hear more of what you think about this
@carollima20Күн бұрын
@@BrianBearButler Hi, the law of attraction seems to be a magic solution to get what we want. It is obvious that everyone who uses this law uses it to satisfy their desires (e.g., a new car, a dream boyfriend, the perfect trip), because no one is going to ask for an illness, a family problem, etc... We can all agree on that, right? When we do this, we are "serving" the ego. The problem I see is that this law serves the ego. We don't have enough wisdom to say and be aware of what is "best" for us at all times. There are many stories of people who have gone through bad situations, but from that bad situation came something good after, or the person became someone better after that (a benefit came even if it is after a few days, or many years, no matter the time). For you to understand better, in the movie Signs with Mel gibson (have you watched it?), his son has asthma, which saves him from the entity's poison. The daughter who tastes bad in the water (and because she is in the house of Christian reverend, it is holy water) that then hurts the entities like acid. These signals that the family receives about the events are signs that something mysterious exists above all of us. The law of attraction makes us want to control our surroundings in a way that is unnatural and can be very harmful. Someone who concludes that their negative experiences are the result of their own negative thoughts and attitudes may feel guilty or ashamed for not being able to change their circumstances. We don't have control of everything, but the law of attraction puts that weight on us. The theory holds that thoughts, whether positive or negative, send vibrations to the universe, which return in the form of equivalent events. This can lead to anxiety, guilt. Imagine someone visualizing something and thinking, striving to emit the "right" frequency for their desire. And a bad, sad (negative) situation happens, as an example a thief steals her. She feels guilty, she thinks that what caused this was her frequency that was "wrong", but this fact of the theft was already going to happen anyway, it was not caused by her. After all, the world happens independently of us too, but it is as if LAW puts us in a dangerous "spotlight" in which we are actors with strong narcissistic tendencies and control over the world. Therefore, we can have our desires but remember that we do not control everything, we have to flow with our desires, aspirations. And the most important thing for me is to trust in a greater power (in a greater protection, whatever it is) that is on our side.

I do think he should give more credit to animals they aren’t purely instinctual

I cringe when people but humans on such a high pedestal- a lot of animals are kinder than humans. I spend all my day around animals. Just because they can’t speak through our language it doesn’t mean they live purely instinctively. There is a lot of active thought that goes into their ways of life too. Just different to ours. Also not every human has these reflective processes either.

I challenge people who love consciousness to spend a lot of time with animals before commenting on them. *triggered lol*

The irony you speak of is the same one Terence McKenna refers to when he says that science asks us to grant them one miracle, the Big Bang.

Sorry Michael, I love the topics and guests that you have but your attempts to try to sound smart by using obscure words is really frustrating. Learn from your guest - Bernardo's ideas go deep but he puts them in plain language. Just a thought - keep it up and love what you put out!

I am confused by Bernardo saying that in an OBE you only experience a model of the physical world. I thought under idealism the physical world itself is only a model, the dashboard, as Bernardo calls it, of some deeper reality that is not physical 😶🤔

.I found myself out of my body at least twice as a child. I can completely identify with the fear and flailing about like a baby. I didn't do it on purpose, and I was scared. I could also lucid dream. Neither of these skills have followed me into adulthood.
