I think the conscripted ending is by far the best one, it's pretty nice and I feel it wraps up the story of the game perfectly and with how Andrè son will have to go on his own journey through hell.

This game kept Andre and the Medic Alive just long enough for me to care about them for them to immediately die second after I considered them friends same with Gaston.

He lived though, he appears after the final battle next to the lieutenant before you pick up your brother. He doesn't die, he just seemingly died when he got shot by the sniper from the window or something but his helmet saved him

Usually helmets dont save you from bullets, it prevents shrapnels, but i guess he was lucky to survive from it

I impressed that the game didn't have a proper supernatural bent to it throughout: like at some point you'd find out some curse or whatever had been unleashed, hence why the Battle of Verdun was so bloody and protracted because something otherwordly was keeping it going, but no. Just the horrors of war. The closest you get is when you're under Fort Vaux and there are areas when you're walking on steel grating over what looks like the literal mouth of hell and I'm not even sure what that's meant to be. Like Andre's been through so much shit at that time he's halluncinating some of this stuff? When you're dropping down towards the Final Battle it all looks like something out of Silent Hill 2 or 3. And I got the Shellshock ending first time round which seems the most realistic one, but the Trapped Ending is just grim: left behind and trapped underground for a slow death. But the Conscripted ending could be seen as just as grim: years later, it starts all over again. WW1 was meant to be the war that ended all wars, until some Austrian lunatic plunged the world into an even more destructive conflict.

Just checking because there's a lot of conflicting information out there about what gets you what ending, but there's no correlation between how many people you kill and your ending, is there? Think it's just based on the following criteria: - *Trapped Ending:* Abandon your post during the final battle. - *Shellshock Ending:* Win the final battle, but you didn't get your dad's watch from Pierre's personal locker/didn't get the pigeon from behind the pronged door and release it outside to go get reinforcements. - *Conscripted Ending:* Send the pigeon for help BEFORE starting the final battle, survive without deserting and make sure the watch is in your inventory.

Hi! Yeah I think those are the correct criteria for the endings. I don't think kill count has much to do with it. Helping the medic may also be a thing. Abandoning your post throughout the game is also a factor. The dev told me that you can get away with abandoning your post once throughout the game (during the previous battles) and still get the Shellshock ending.

@@AlphaBetaGamer Strange. I actually did exactly that and managed to get another ending where your character instead gets shot by a firing squad from his own nation for his cowardice. In my case I abandoned my post for the first battle but never abandoned my post for the other battles. And this was also including releasing the pigeon before the final battle, getting the pocket watch and keeping it in your inventory during the finale.

Who knows? Even if we do get a sequel it will obviously be set in WW2. Which the begs the question as to whether or not it can replicate or exceed the same levels of horrors of WW1 set in this game.

thats a lot more difficult since there's almost no stalemate, static defenses. ww1 is probably more simpler because the atmosphere is mainly the same with the static trench stuff

No-one thought it possible to get an army, including armour and the supply train through the Ardennes, and into Belgium, but the Germans managed it. France had a pact with Belgium to send troops to reinforce their border in case of attack. Belgium failed to trigger that agreement in time.

Hi! A lot of the codes in the games are randomised. If you walk around the town you'll see the symbols from the slates on the ground in different locations. Their positions dictates where you need to place the tiles.

Yeah, they're brutal! I think the dev's working on an update to nerf them a little. Also, I learned after completing it that you can stop them appearing by using fuel to burn the bodies of the soldiers you kill.

This has to be said because nobody else is addressing it.. the game is way too long and has some extreme moments of tedium. I got near the end and died a few times backtracking around and I just got sick of the long walks and slow sprint meter. I haven’t picked it back up. I know I’ll beat it eventually but if you get impatient you may run out of gas playing this. It’s so treky.
