Consecrated Life: the Charism of Virginity & Celibacy for the Kingdom of God

An attempt to articulate the calling or vocation of virginity and celibacy for the kingdom. Some Christians call this “living single for the Lord” or the charism of virginity and the celibate life, making perpetual vows or promises as religious sisters, religious brothers, priests, consecrated virgins, etc. to live virginity or celibacy as a spousal fulfillment of our bodies given to God. These vocations are a sign on earth that God is real and worth giving everything for and that our ultimate fulfillment is intimate union with the Divine Bridegroom of the Church, Jesus our Lord.

1-4, Celestial marriage is essential to exaltation in the highest heaven; 5-6, How men are sealed up unto eternal life is explained; 7-8, All spirit is matter. 1 In the celestial glory there are three heavens or degrees; 2 And in order to obtain the highest, a man must enter into this order of the priesthood [meaning the new and everlasting covenant of marriage]; 3 And if he does not, he cannot obtain it.

Dawn, yeah, wow! I really appreciated that! I went through a time of renewal and repentance several years ago, and because of the final realization and awakening to be completely set apart and consecrated completely to serve the Most High and wait upon Him without distraction I made a personal vow of a Nazarite before the Lord and I have grown immensely in my walk since then. I am not a virgin and I am an older man but have dedicated myself to be celibate. Thank you so much for sharing.

Sometimes i can get so conflicted within, i asked God and i didn't have any clear answer. But your talk strengthen me and i feel comforted that there's someone like me out there who's devoting her life totally to God and totally embracing her calling with conviction. God has truly blessed you, Dawn!!! I do understand everything that you say and teach, because in my own life, I have been living in it for many years . I am 59 now and sometime in my 40s I made a decision to be like and live like my aunt who passed on years ago. She became a Sister of St. Joseph de La Puy...which is an order that started in France. My question for you is simply: do you work at a job or is your living accomodations provided by your local church?? I have seen a few other KZbinrs with videos about this same topic of consecrated virgins, but none really answer this question. This is beautiful! 🤗❤️👍 It baffles me that the world still despises bachelorettes and bachelors, virgins, in general. Is it just me, or is the entire world obsessively deriding singleness, even calling it a curse? I get the impression sometimes that sex is all that matters to most people. The infamous "bodycount", which I unfortunately got to learn about not long ago (Jesus didn't factor in that woman's bodycount when defending her, why should you?). Oh, but I am getting sidetracked... I wanted to thank you, Dawn, for all the Scripture verses that prove singleness is not a curse. 🤗❤️👍 I am 29 and single: Jesus wants it this way. Nothing to be ashamed of. Maybe I won't have a wife to guide, protect and to learn from during this earthly journey, and that is alright, too. Oh, and in case anyone here really desires to get married but is not quite there yet... Guess what? Wishes do come true sometimes, especially when faith is involved, so, hang in there! 👍🤗We are all getting married to Jesus in the end. Short answer is no. I didn’t begin recognizing a call until my 20’s. Some ppl know at a young age and others it takes into adult years.

I know that I have charism of virginity (as a perpetual virginity) and a calling for a consecrated life, but I don't know how to go about it in the official way. It seems all so complicated. I've only so far spoken about it once with a priest/spiritual director but without much details. I would appreciate prayer in that intention.

I have just read enciclica by Pope Pius XII-Sacra Virginitas it helps me a lot and it is absolutely beautiful. I will ask my priest to read it too before we have further conversations.
