Ive felt called to some type of celibacy life. Religious life ECT. Since I was 15 but it wasnt until I was 17 that I accepted the church teachings. In 2020 of April it will be 4 years. I was hoping to get confirmed this easter vigil. Parents didnt aprove of conversion. I'll be 21 in a about a few days I have trouble to rcia Church is far away from where I live. I have issues getting my drivers lincense due to a disablity. Hopefully I can be confirmed 2021 making me 22. Your usually required to wait three years to join a order ECT. I know all of my basic catechism and say my prayers Read the Bible know of the saints. From 3 years from that I should be 25 which should be around 2024. Ive been all in touch with a nice carmelite monastery that is very traditional being in union with rome (1990/1991)? There is sisters of our lady of mercy in U.S Constitutions. I have a very deep personal relationship with Jesus. Please pray for me. Thank you.

So could someone correct me if I am wrong but I have read that to be a consecrated virgin but still live in the world one must actually a physical virgin. Meaning every having had sex with another person. But I have read that one can become a full fledged nun wearing a habit and all, living in a convent and not be required to be an actual virgin. If what I have read is true it would seem that to be a nun with habit would more so require the physical virginity. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. I am not Catholic but have much enjoyed these videos. God’s love to all.

You don't have to be a virgin to become a nun. Consecrated virgins are supposed to represent the purity and virginity of the Church though, so they do need to be virgins. It's in the name.

Just wondering why someone contemplating lifelong consecrated virginity cannot just make a private vow, like oblates do, and remain single, chaste, active on behalf of the church and so forth. Why is it necessary to take formal vows in the presence of a bishop? Just trying to understand.

Might be easier to stick to it when you’re held accountable (she mentioned monthly meet ups). It probably also provides a sense of community and belonging and gives you a clearer purpose than if you’re just doing it on your own (there are rules and a structure to follow rather than just your own ways). It might also be easier to justify or explain this lifestyle if there’s a « title » to it, if it’s recognized as a path. These are all assumptions though, would be interesting to hear it from her.

I feel like this is like asking a married couple why they didnt make their vows in private. Its a celebration and a sacrament in front of your church and community who support you and celebrate with you. Its not meant to be private. Its meant to be profoundly announced and witnessed.

I have made art and worked as a house cleaner for a living. I live during strange hours. I talk walk before dawn and pray. Solitude has been my be best friend. And I feel I love people better from afar. I have cats for company.

@@heatherwhitehead3743 At 50 years old, it seems like a very difficult point. Are you religious? has you always been? I do not want to get into matters of belief or religion. But something that I have noticed in my life is that nothing happens if we don't act. I am sure that if instead of you waiting, a man knocking on your door to meet you, that will never happen. You need to act, for interesting things to happen in life, you need to run, to fall, to feel what the fall is to be able to get up again, you will not know anything about that if you never run. That is my way of seeing life.

It seems like the answer to this has been changed in the last few years by the Vatican to be No, but only in cases where physical virginity was not freely or soundly given up. So for example if a woman was violated or had an instance occur that was not made in sound mind they could still in good faith go forward in living celibacy and be eligible for the vocation since they were not at fault the reason their body is not in its virgin state. However if a woman willingly lived a life that involved sex, such as a married woman who is now widowed, they would not be eligible. I think this was a kind, fair change made because no woman should be punished by the Church or cast away from devoting herself as she intended because someone evil hurt her or something beyond her control happened. Its my understanding that nuns do not have to be virgins at all and that virginity is generally not the vow made, rather its celibacy from the time they begin their pledge to become a sister.

I argue that the consecrated union is God's greatest creation above life itself. God requires all of us to be in a consecrated union but not to beget life. Everyone must wear a wedding ring, that's the rule. But yet there are people whom God forbids from procreation. Creating life is not a requirement but consecrating yourself either to Christ, the Church, or to another layperson is. Many lay women say, "if God wills it, I'll get married". Yes! Of course God wills it. He said so. The thing is, God's not going to micro manage our dating, mating, and discerning. He's very busy. He laid out the requisite that everyone must be in a union, consecrated to another in a church, before the sacrificial altar, in white dress, with a ring to signal to everyone else that you're off limits. That's adulthood. Without the union, you are in perpetual childhood just going about getting yourself whatever you want whenever you want. By not being in a union, not consecrated to another, you are defying God's will and defying God's will is a sin.

Her devotion is admirable but there is no such thing as "the order of consecrated virgins" in God's Word. It is another false doctrine made up by the Catholic Church. She references 1 Corinthians 7 and says this is the Biblical teaching on the order of consecrated virgins. Not at all. Paul only says if you are not married, he says nothing about being a virgin, and you are content with that, consider the option of remaining unmarried. If you are not content, then it's best to get married. Sadly, the catholic church has a way of corrupting the Word of God rather than receive His truth. This is just another example.
