I have a 111w156 and did the belt. Thanks for the video. My arm shaft bushing didn't want to come out. I had to cut a screw driver to fit into the machine and be able to extend as the bushing was pounded out. The machine had sat for years..even then I bet they didn't oil it much. The bushing faired ok and with some cleaning of dig marks,etc. reused it.. It sews so smooth and quiet compared to my Juki 1510N-7..

@spartaeus4 жыл бұрын
I replaced the timing belt on my consew 226. The new belt seems to have a lot of looseness in it. Is it suppose to be somewhat loose??? I'm wondering if it's because I used a cheap chinese belt from ebay. Maybe Seiko belts are tighter ?

Hi. I have two questions: 1) on the bottom drive shaft, the notched pulley is not fixed to the shaft and despite this 2) the needle displacement remains synchronized with the feed dog aperture. So, 1) how do I affix the notched pulley to the lower drive shaft and how are the needle and feed dog coordinated such that they seem to be connected EVEN if I freeze the hook ratation (which I can do because of the pulley slippage). Question 2 is academic, because it dissappears in the event that the pulley is properly affixed, but is interesting because I cannot determine how the (lower) feed dog remains synchronized with the (upper) needle feed, when the belt is taken out of the equation.
@UweXY7 жыл бұрын
On some machines the feed dog movement is driven by linkages to cams on the upper shaft. In that case the lower shaft only drives the hook. If your lower pulley spins freely on the lower shaft, the safety clutch very likely has disengaged. Your machine's manual should describe how to reset your safety clutch. My Consew 225 hook timing video also shows how to reset it on that particular machine.
@chrismiller65797 жыл бұрын
Uwe Grosse Yes, it turns out that the safety clutch had been tripped, and this answers my confusion about why a crenalated pulley was so complicated. I simply reset it, and Voila! In addition, I have found that the lower drive shaft drives a pushrod that coordinates the needle feed with the feed dog displacement. Thanks very much for your assistance. I'll have this bad boy timed and stitching before dark.

Hi Uwe, I have a Consew 226 and I am following your directions. I have TWO arrows on the frame (pointing in the direction of the clutch) and one arrow on the limit collar of the bottom drive shaft. Of the two arrows pointing to the clutch, one is painted red and the other is unpainted. I assume that I want to align with the red arrow, but that raises the two questions: 1) "Am I right?" and 2) "Why is there a second arrow?". Thanks for the help, Chris.

It's hard to tell without seeing pictures. Check out leatherworker.net/forum/topic/77130-seiko-stw-8b-thread-snapping-sound-around-bobbin/ and add to that topic with pictures of your machine. Consew 226 is made by Seiko (Model number STW-8B)

Would you know what size belt I would need going from the head to the servo motor?
@UweXY4 жыл бұрын
The belts are generally 3L V belts. 3L indicates how wide the belt is (3/8”in this case). The length depends on your particular installation and pulley sizes. The belts are available in 1” increments online and many automotive or hardware stores for under $10 in the USA. Measure length by wrapping a tailor’s measuring tape around top of pulley groove, not in the valley. Move motor to middle of pivoting adjustment range before measuring.

The Juki LU-1508 has a different alignment method. Page 16/17 of the engineers manual describes it: all-guidesbox.com/manual/703364/juki-lu-1508n-engineer-s-manual-80.html?page=20

Do major differences exist between the Consew 206, 225 & 226 machines? They all seem to look the same.
@UweXY7 жыл бұрын
The Consew 225 and 226 are nearly identical vertical axis hook machines, the 226 adds reverse. The Consew 206 is a totally different design with a horizontal axis hook - it shares almost no components with the Consew 225 or 226.
