Another note, gotta make sure the monitor/TV supports 4K @ 120HZ+ through HDMI specifically for next gen consoles if someone is going that route. Many affordable/older 4K monitors advertising high refresh rates may be through Displayport ONLY, not HDMI. Read reviews or double check specs for this and double check your old HDMI cables: 4k @ 120 Hz = HDMI 2.0 (2.1 for HDR) cable* 2k @ 144hz = HDMI 2.0 cable* 2k or 1080p @ 120hz = HDMI 1.4 cable* *console/video card output compatibility as well Also Next-gen Consoles PS5/Xbox will support VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) if the TV supports it through HDMI 2.1. This tech prevents image/screen tearing which is noticeable especially on larger TV screens. (For PC monitors this is called G-sync or AMD Freesync). IMHO shelling out for a high quality/feature rich 2k/120-144hz HDMI 2.0/2.1 monitor setup is probably the way to go for both console and PC for competitive shooters/close-sitting setups. there's a reason it's the eSports standard. If you need a screen larger than 32" for sitting further away, and don't play competitive games then a 42"-55" 4k/120hz TV should be just fine and console future proof.

Just bought an ultrawide gaming monitor, Have to say I wasn't expecting the gaming improvements I saw. The gameplay felt smoother (high refresh rate I guess), I could react and see better because of how detailed and bright the screen was, I got more kills than ever. As you may know, sometimes it's a bummer watching a review or video and someone puts the link in the description below but the monitor they have and recommend cost at least 400 dollars like the Asus you have in here. I'm still using my Benq Gl2760 27 inch monitor that I bought back at the end of 2017 but didn't use til the beginning of 2018. It was my first gaming monitor at only 60hz for my Xbox one S but I did notice a huge difference in my response time and made things a whole lot easier when gaming. Plus, I can see the detail of the graphics in a game or the detail when watching a big screen movie on Blu Ray or streaming like Star Wars or Lord of the Rings and see things going on that I couldn't when watching on my living room 50 inch flatscreen! I had to keep turning my head and missed some things on the living room flatscreen! Ugh! Anyway, I'm hoping to upgrade to a 144hz monitor with the ability to sync with my graphics card on my PC around Christmas! Great info, man!

I'm a 50/50 PC/Console player, and I have used my PS4 on my 27inch 1080p VA panel from AOC, though I use the PS4 more often for streaming or playing Blu-Rays on my FullHD TV these days, yes there are still a lot of old school gamers/movie watchers that prefer owning physical media. I've ripped 90% of my movie/TV collection to my PC's HDD and can stream it via Plex to any Smart-TV in my home. If I ever manage to buy the PS5 I'll probably hook it up to my gaming monitor to get that smoothness.

There's a decent amount when it comes to TVs and Monitors for Series consoles. The biggest is what resolution do you want to hit and at what frame rate. This will really define what you end up going with as the requirements may be fairly different, especially on monitors that use both HDMI and DP connections.

@2:41 : Can confirm on response time. I have Tetris on a different platform, switch and ps5. The ps5 version feels okay on the big tv, but sometimes i can't maneuver the tetriminos fast enough. The switch version on big tv : big no. The addition of controller and response time delay on switch, just adds up too much. Hooking up the switch to my gaming monitor is such a night and day experience. In my opinion; the response time delay is even smaller than the switch's built in screen itself.

Anything 30fps performs better on a TV with game mode enabled. 60fps onwards seems fine on both with the ball perhaps sitting in the monitors court at this stage. I would like to see 120hz monitor vs 120hz TV in terms of latency. Far Cry 5 was a great game to test at 30 fps... Much smoother on the TV and this was up against an LG GP850. I think the ideal scenario would be a 42inch 4k 120hz LG C2 for all round gaming with the inclusion of popping off on those competitive shooters.

I cannot play on a tv. I just can't. I switch my pc to my tv only for multiplayer splitscreen games, playing with my family or friends, but other than that I can't stand playing on my tv. Bcos its just not immersive. Infact i play worse on my tv, compared to my monitor. And it feels amazing and way more immersive when I play on my monitor. Sitting close to the tv still doesn't give me that immersion.

I have both. An LG CX 55 and 3 weeks ago I picked up the LG 32GP83B, which is a 165HZ 32” Nano IPS monitor. I honestly love them both but if I could only have one it would the monitor. It just comes down to what type of gamer you are. I personally love being at my desk and having my whole setup within reach. if I could have it my way that would be the ideal way to play everyday. However I do work at an office so during the weekdays my TV gets a lot of play time. Mainly because I’m just tired of sitting in front of a computer all day and I just wanna relax when I get home. I think most people would be happy with a monitor though especially if you play FPS, you do get a lot of performance for the money. The colors and contrast aren’t quite as good as the OLED but to me it’s still pretty impressive.

I have a Philips TV 70inch screen with ambilight, hdr, dolby vision, 4K res = the price was about 1000-1400$ (Yeah, I have a big room, so I wish my room could be smaller so I would buy a cheaper 55inch tv) TV is always better and I will try to explain why: 1) You can watch movies and also play with your friends or family on a big screen. So you can do two things) Watch and Play. 2) The Picture Quality and brightness is always better than monitors so HDR content looks much more beautiful and realistic than any HDR monitor. 3) You can chill on a sofa with controller instead of sitting in an office chair ) Yeah I think 1000$ monitors is a good thing, but TV is better :) Maybe if you are a pro gamer and play a lot of online games it’s better to have a gaming monitor )

So I have maybe a stupid question here. I have a series x connected to an lg c1 in my living room and absolutely love it. I have a series s connected to a samsung led I bought 10 years ago. I noticed when I play halo infinite on my series s on the samsung it is almost unplayable. everything looks good and smooth but I dunno something is off. it almost seems like my tv is not keeping up? I don't think it's my internet because I can connect my series s to my lg and everything feels good. Do the newer tvs make that big of a difference? Super confused also use my series s on a msi portable monitor and that feels good too but I can't play for shit in my bedroom on the older samsung led. I love the tv it was a great tv for the 10 years just not good for gaming? Never had issues with my ps4 on it.
