COMPARED mClassic v PhotoFast Gamer Pro 4k on Nintendo Switch. Which is better?

I have mCable + mClassic and this combination is totally crazy, eliminating the dispersion of the pixels in the textures and smoothing "sawtooth" edges, so much better result than Gamer pro 4k or a solo mClassic also much expensive. Gamer pro 4k it does a very good job despite its less vivid colors, and worse contrast in its 100% mode becomes slightly better than mClassic "showing details that are not visible in 1080p"...as I commented mCable makes the difference.

I've got the MCable and its shocking how much of a difference it makes. Even my wife who only playes animal crossing was amazed at the improvement. I'd say the Mclassic or the Mcable are well worth the money for any switch gamer

The colours on the Mclassic look much more attractive at first glance, but the comparison shows that the Gamer Pro 4k actually has the more accurate colours to the default with improved visual fidelity. The colours on the Mclassic may pop more but they could end up being oversaturated to the point of appearing unnatural. BOTW popped more on the Mclassic but it just looked 'right' on the Gamer Pro 4k on the max setting.

Nice to see the 4k gamer Pro has a more natural approach in colors, I can 100% agree that the mClassic has a high contrast which sure, some games bloom a lot more but isn't ideal, often find some UI is washed out as a result. Appears, from my overall opinion on this video that the 4k gamer Pro looks to sharpen, retain natural contrast so things are more rounded off. Honestly the actual benefit of these varies from what they're on, I find mClassic absolutely excels in games that use a lower p such as GTA Trilogy, Xenoblade. I assume the 4k Gamer Pro will be the same. Otherwise, its hard to say if the difference is that much nicer, mind you if the 4k gamer Pro is just as good, I'd say that would be the better choice due to the contrast issue and it not being adjustable / able to be turned off, to my knowledge on the mClassic.

The waiting/loading screen in MarioKart 8 was the thing that shocked me the most and makes me hesitating about Marseille module predominance. The light gray sponsors logo didin't appeared on the screen while the 4k gaming pro show them with no problems! Looks like the 4k gaming pro is more stable than the Mclassic... but for all the rest, it's still much more difficult to definitely take a side... Mclassic colors are more attractive like the smooth effect on certain games, but the 4kgaming pro sharping features are surprisingly appealing!... It's mostly a question of preference and results are very relative depending which game you're playing...

I just got my 4kgamer have had the mClaassic since 2020. I combine them to get the best of both worlds! MClassic first then out to 4kgamer. 👌🏼

Do you have to put a 1080p edid between the two? I heard that 4k gamer pro can only work with a 1080p source, but the classic tries to output at 1440p so a 1080p edid inbetween forces the mclassic to output at 1080p so the gamer pro can then convert that to 4k. Do i have that correct?

honestly I think 4k gamer pro is okay, but for the 4k TV I have, it's worse than its inbuilt upscaler. the mClassic is absolutely amazing for what it does, and for a 1080p or 1440p screen, it's definitely a must have in my opinion.

I'm thinking of 720p (or lower native res) upscaled to 1080p through FSR and then, to 4K with the 4K Gamer Pro. That would be very useful for the Steam Deck. I didn't find any video testing this yet :)

for a steam deck it would make more sense just to use FSR 2.0 to upscale from 720p directly to 4k when using an external display.

@@ryanazarko for AAA games, that would cost a lot of performance, FSR is awesome but it's not passive, it's not "free" when it comes to using resources. I would much rather have a stable 60fps with good enough graphics... For that you can use FSR to bring 720p to 1080p and then this passive hdmi device to good-enough upscale 1080p to 4k. 👌

The PRO 4K makes everything a little blurry whereas the mClassic keeps everything sharp looking.

Because it applies a sharpening filter. The image being displayed is higher than your display. Hence it results in a pseudo-antialaising effect.

I tried with mCable gamer edition + 4K Gamer+ I have to turn off the 4K Gamer+, then the result is somewhat amazing...better than just one of them. My order is Switch > 4K Gamer+ > mCable gaming edition.

@@BOXING_LOUNGE not Pro, the + with processing off, but I think upscale still works. I don't think you can turn that off on +. Pro is the new model (has not ship officially yet, + you can buy now, just need to import it). At this point, it is way more expensive to get the + version. Just wait for Pro. If I remembered correctly I paid almost $200 USD to import the +.

Its because mclassic is using color grading and adding contrast, which makes games pop more but, as you can see, you may entirely loose details.

If I recall mclassic upscale to the next level. So 720p goes to 1080p. 1080p goes to 1440p ect.

@@giovannibocchi9686 mclassic will take 480, 576p and 1080 all the way up to 4k on a 4k tv, just make sure your games machine is set to out put at its native rez, and the mclassic will do the rest, so if its a ps3 720p game set ps3 to 720p output in video settings, and the dongle will process that image beautifully to 4k.

Just to clarified this mess no the mclassic does not do 4k and the only way you get 1440p is usually on a monitor. Most of the time even if you have a console at 720p it will only upscale to 1080p. I have found a way to make it output the 1440p on my tv but it cant be done while been on game mode.

This doesn't like any "upscaling" is being done at all. It genuinely just looks like a sharpness filter. Definitely save your money on this

Eighth gen consoles have their own upscalers built in that can't be disabled. Because of this output, I've found it pretty much impossible to get the mclassic to upscale recent consoles. Even the Wii mode on Wii U is upscaled internally and won't play with this device's upscaler. Because the input is being read as 1080p already, regardless of the games native resolution, the mclassic doesn't do any upscaling. So this device is probably best for 5-7th gen consoles and will not really do what people expect it to do for anything else.
