Loved your video man! Also thanks for making video about NOT popular but important topics! You are sacrificing views for quality! Thanks

I have shot for major brands and very high budget projects. I use 6k q5. Never had any complaints.

Thank you for this! It's really helpful to hear this. I've been sticking with Q3 but could probably do just as well with Q5

Thanks for sharing your helpful advice Mike! It takes some of the fear and uncertainty out of which codec to use. Question: what kind of media do you use? Sd card, ssd or cfast? Thanks!
@mattspadesoundandvision Жыл бұрын
I use a 250GB CFASST and a 1TB SSD. The SSD cost me 1/4 the price of the CFAST. For my BRAW formats, I'll either use CB @ 5:1 or CQ Q3-Q0, depending on how much or what I'm shooting. I've learned that things that are backlight do better in Q1 or Q0. Thank you!
@jvpuckett1214 Жыл бұрын
@@mattspadesoundandvision Thank you so much! Do you use the Samsung ssd?
@mattspadesoundandvision Жыл бұрын
@@jvpuckett1214 I do! I have the T7 ( amzn.to/3tpRr9y ) which works for the 6K Pro. I've read mixed reviews of people having issues with older BM cameras and the T7 so the T5 ( amzn.to/3ttWXbd ) would be a good back up. The reason for the Amazon links is they'll at least take the drive back if it doesn't work.

I have mostly used constant bitrate but I did ProRes Lt for a shoot at night recently.
@mattspadesoundandvision11 ай бұрын
How did the Prores LT footage come out? I have switched to mainly using CQ over CB in most instances, especially outdoors. Thank you!
@SlugfestWizard11 ай бұрын
I have been using Prores a bit more often because it is a smaller file size but I am going to try BMRAW on the next shoot because they use Highlight recovery. @@mattspadesoundandvision

So can you film a film in let’s say 3:1 and then shoot in Q0 for certain shots for the same film? Just to get that quality and info the Q0 would take in.. and I believe Q0 is better than Q5 correct? Thank you
@mattspadesoundandvision Жыл бұрын
You absolutely can! It's similar to using different camera footage and codecs. The NLE will do the transcoding/encoding work for you. I once did a feature film where 90% of the footage was ProRes. The other 10% was shot in CDNG. The beauty of Resolve was it handled both file types. Cheers!

@@mattspadesoundandvision awesome. Thank you so so much ! I really appreciate the info. That’s very helpful. I’m also reading the manual to learn as much as I can about the BM camera. Thanks again!!

What gimbal are you using, and did you calibrate it correctly? theres some horrible up and down wobbling happening 😬
@mattspadesoundandvision2 ай бұрын
The DJI Ronin RS3 Pro. It's a beast with the BMPCC 6k pro and yes, I'm not the best stabilizer operator. I like it much better than handheld footage, though.
@J.K.productionsDE2 ай бұрын
@@mattspadesoundandvision yeah, but theres something wrong with the calibration though. Not you as an operator failed here, the gimbal itself did. Maybe look into that because its currently ruining your footage.

Quick question, for Q1/Q0 which media do you use? And how long are those clips that you grab at those qualities? Thanks in advance!

@@BlackHouse13 on the Pocket 6k I was using the CFAST but now with the full frame cinema camera it’s the CFEcpress. I believe with a 500gb card I’d get around 45 minutes to an hour.

Then YT murders the delivered image after upload... I use 6144x3456, BRAW constant bitrate 5:1 and film DR for almost everything. I do original narrative content, so I need to match those shots.

This is true. It’s a shame that less compression couldn’t be used, but I feel like the service would cost us money if so. Unfortunately, platforms like Vimeo decided they didn’t care about content creators.

@@mattspadesoundandvision True indeed! After a three year reintroduction to filmmaking, I'm finally cranking out content. Housing and distributing said content is a big concern and a current research project.

I'm really not trying to be a troll here, but this is some of the worst footage I've seen out of a pocket camera. Which export settings did you use? Also, why does your footage look so magenta? Were you using the built-in NDs? (btw, I was watching in 4K. But it wasn't just the resolution that looked bad, but also the colors - that's why I'm kind of confused.)
@mattspadesoundandvision6 ай бұрын
@@carlos.sierra I appreciate the feedback. I’m curious if it’s a playback issue since I don’t see the magenta cast in the example footage: for the footage with me talking I went back and forth between and old Canon 6D, iPhone, or the BMPCC. If you have a time stamp , LMK. Criticism is always welcome and I appreciate you doing so with class.
