It's ironic in a way. Everyone chasing higher resolution, but then softening it to look more like film.

It's not Ironic. They produce the high quality, sharp looking so that you have more choice in doing post-production. You can soften a detail image, but you cannot do the reverse(As the detail data was lost already)

That was nice and all, but I was expecting 1080p with a high bitrate vs 4K with a low bit rate :/

What interests me is if a higher rate is better for heavy colorgrading

Definitely!

I'm watching this on my s20 plus, i pulled the res to 4k and YES 4k turned out beter looking than the 6k, suprisingly

I may be wrong...but I thought the bitrate 200 vs 400 for example gave you more information in post for color grading etc...
@Leukick Жыл бұрын
Does a higher bitrate allow for further color grading capabilities? Like at 600mbps would you be able to push/pull color grading adjustments further in post you think?
@jared_taylor Жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely! Especially if the color bit depth is higher too. In this scenario the GH5 was always 10 bit and the Pocket 4K was 12 bit color plus a totally different compression type which is way more flexible. The standard color depth is 8 bit which can easily cause banding in the sky or colors to break especially if the color grade is pushed. In fact, on the GH5 if you use the V-Log color profile and an 8-bit setting, it will break. It’s not very good and 10-bit is recommended for V-Log.

@@jared_taylor That's great, so assuming all clips are already at 10-bit, 4:2:2, Log; 600mbps should still be able to handle color grading adjustments than the 200mbps?
@jared_taylor Жыл бұрын
@@Leukick yeah that does seem logical to me. Could be one of those things where the naked eye may not notice especially after it’s on KZbin. This could be a good test to see how big the difference and do some pixel peeping

@@jared_taylor I would be curious to see a video on color graing differences regarding mbps.....I know bit depth makes a differenc 8 vs 10 vs 12...but on the Sony FX30 and FX3. the 100mbps and 240 mbps options at 24p...do not seem to make a difference...I wonder if the difference has to be larger like 100 mbps. vs 600 mbps...

everyone leaves out 1080p capture. What about adding high 1080p vs low 4k.

400Mbps? Yes! But make test in 1080p and 480Mbps. 😊

okay 👍🏼 I am writing it down to do that! Thanks

I sell TV's and it's so hard to explain this to people. Comcast and other 720p cable would look ok if they gave a good bit rate. Instead they choose garbage. I had a blu-ray of toy story 4 playing on a 77 a80k oled and it looked great, even up close as long as you didn't add tons of sharpness and blow out the colors.

Great. Which 1080p cameras has a high bit rate?

My pocket cinema camera from Blackmagic has that option

Got a 4k screen but noticed no difference. Cool family though.

Thanks dude! And yeah that’s good that there wasn’t really a difference. Goes to show resolution is not king, but marketing usually makes it about that. Did you notice any difference when I switched cameras completely? Like when the bitrate was 650mbps or so?
@Ellie8199811 ай бұрын
I do see a difference Between the two when i watch it in 4k but i also think it's because of my premium smartphone from Samsung (Galaxy s23 ultra) it has an Excellent panel.

Using such high bitrates as examples is kinda pointless. The vast majority of KZbin creators aren't going to be uploading 400mbps files at any resolution - it's a waste of time and storage space.

I do wander what extreme differences would be. Let’s say 10mbit 4K VS 200mbit 1080
