This 76 year-old lady can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoy watching the construction. My daddy was a carpenter and so was my grandpa and my uncle and my older brother and it brings back such fun memories of going to their works sites.

I really liked the way you got the fascia on and straight and level. It was fun to watch! I like to watch you getting things right! The way you make decisions is really a mixture of madcap and exactitude. How you solve problems is really striking!

Ah. You guys are great. We got two (2!) "Thanks for building with us!" :) BTW, it's really amazing to see how you quickly adjust your plans and innovate (as with Jamie (Jaime?) did with opening that door) to meet the needs of your client. Incidentally, I really enjoyed watching the latest compiled video (of Ramelle's house.) I watched the original build series but it was just as enjoyable to watch the whole build altogether. Watching them each way has its advantages. Thanks! Be sure to always let us know when these become available. I think I've missed a few. Now I need to go back and watch those.

Given how high the garage roof is, I’m not sure a 4’ overhang will keep rain out. And Eric, glad to see you using earmuffs rather than, or in addition to, those earplugs!
@dversloot12 сағат бұрын
Pro Tip: When you're trying to straighten a wall, use a string line set off each end by about 1". Then, in the middle, push or pull the wall in until it is also 1". I use this method on decks all the time. :)

The garage rafters overhang was hilarious! 😂
@hedunlap5 сағат бұрын
Did you install some of them upside down? Put the 3/4 inch runoff on the bottom? Also, here a cantilever requires 2 feet in for each 1 foot out so you would need 8 feet in, and you have a little under 6.

Very cool cantilever. That’ll look awesome. Well done guys.
@locke31416 сағат бұрын
I think you’re right about the cantilever. In my area, the building official accepted a 2:1 in vs out without an engineer. Meaning for a 4 foot cantilever, you would need 8’ attached to the joists inside.

Those safety glasses remind me of Jamie Heinamans safety glasses from Myth Busters. Beats the heck out of 'squint safety'! LOL! Cantilever code, as far as I'm aware is 2:1. So if you have 3' on the outside, you need 6' on the inside. I could be wrong about that, it's been 10+ years since I built my house. Still, that's a really cool house you guys have built. I agree with the roofer :)

Question. I used to work in construction in the admin/office area. The program we used did a material takeoff so I could get bids and order material. Granted I always added a percentage to it, but it worked. Doesn’t your software offer that?
