Been a Carpenter & Joiner here in the UK for 37yrs & I am only on my 3rd blue handled Estwing Hammer first 2 were stolen. I just could not bring myself to pay £300 to £400+ for a Stiletto or Martinez hammer. Just to put it out there the pneumatic palm nailers will drive any size nail in (great in tight spaces) & here in the UK the Bostitch Palm Nailer is about £45

Podcast: as long as it’s also voice over of a demo of the topic. We’ll need to see some actual examples of things you’re talking about but a Let Jamie Talk podcast is one that everyone can enjoy and learn from: builders, DIY-ers, homeowners, homesteaders and enthusiasts alike!

Love the vids & the humour! Cold? - When I was building my house, poured the basement floor when it was -28C (-18F). Insulation and cardboard in the windows, plus 2 layers of 6mm poly tacked in and around the stairwell with doorways to access. Ran 2 Coleman camp stoves in the basement for days to keep it warm prior. Concrete guys were stripping off their layers it was so toasty.

YES to the Podcast question. It’s interesting to see that you all are having the same issues with crooked lumber that we DIYers are experiencing. It’s also unfortunate that the cost of material has gone up so much that it’s a struggle to do build simple things compared to what it was say 10 years ago. We are renting a 12x30 unheated storage shed and I needed somewhere to store things that needed a little protection from the elements so I built a 6 ft wide, by 12 ft long by 8 ft high room that was/is insulated and has a 2x6 ceiling so that I could store stuff on top. That simple room, only a foam panel door, cost me over $1,000 using big box store materials. I can even guess how much those 8x8, 6x6 and 4x4 pieces cost and then you all have to work around the bent, bowed and warped material to boot.

Hey guys. Simpson allows for a 2.5 inch SD hanger screw in place of a 3 inch nail and all my inspectors are cool with it too. The cost difference is negligible. Probably end up saving because of the labor cost. Trust me on this. Total game changer.
