Glad you stated it took you 2 years as I talked kids into doing something like this while I am still able to help them as I was 59 lol we cleared the 1/2 acre they got on tax seized they bought a shell home that was a repo and came fully framed added a 14x14 to give them a decent kitchen my brother and I helped kids run power from pole into home , I ran hot and cold pipes but plumber needed for sewer and grey water line, they hung insulation and now saving for their sheetrock, when they started this son was 21 daughter 18 they are now 20 and 22 going on 23. Working at Pizza Hut and doing everything cash as they go only went to bank for shell. The bathroom almost complete and they plan to move in to home in March and finish kitchen. Home will be paid off in 2024. If my autistic son and daughter can do it anyone who has a drive to own their own home,work hard and can remain dedicated to doing it can. Dedication is they key element
@JeronimoStilton1410 ай бұрын
You ran the electrical from the utility pole? Isn’t that terrifyingly dangerous? I’ll wire a panel but no way am I touching the pole. Also how do you find tax seized property, I may look into this even though I already bought my first home for when I want to expand.

The PBB did like an hour long video on Jamie's barn build and a 2 hour video on the Modern Getaway. I commented about how crazy those must have been to upload. I'm guessing yours was tough to edit, but easier to upload. This is really cool Johnny. It's fun to see it all come together. Thanks for the effort!

Yea I'm considering doing a 2 hour version if this video performs OK. I don't want to sink the editing time in if no one is going to watch it, hah!

@@craftedworkshop I totally get that as I edit tutorial videos for my job that practically no one watches (and then they just email questions that were answered in the video). I'll watch your 2 hour video a couple thousand times so you don't feel like you wasted the effort...lol.

In step 7 they drill some large holes at the bottom of the roof. What are those for? I thought for airflow, but they cover them up on the inside
@techmon88 Жыл бұрын
Not covered up, on the inside are baffles that direct the air to cool the underside of the roofdeck, so it can be kept cooler and then the insulation is under the baffles.

This was amazing, is it possible for you to do a break down? on materials and tools? I’m thinking of buying land, and building a small home, mean while we save up for a bigger new build on the same land.
@user-uy3eq5hg1s2 жыл бұрын
This was really interesting to watch. I own a couple acres of land and I'm considering building a tiny/small home on it. The only thing is I'd have to hire help, don't really have a lot of friends who would be able to come out and help me for months on end. My thought is to stretch it out over a few years, starting with the foundation and building it up from there each year. It sounds fun, but your video makes it clear that it would also be a ton of work. Do you think it's worth all the time and effort as a single man who would have to hire extra help, or would you advise just buying a pre-built tiny/small home and transporting it to the land? Any thoughts on this are appreciated and keep up the great work.

Looks like it's going to be slightly more than tiny. In our jurisdiction, they classify 700 sq. ft. or less as tiny. This looks like it's gonna be a bit more. Looks habitable from what I see of the finished product. Very nice Job done, and well thought-out planning-wise. An accomplishment you can be proud of.
