Consumer Cellular is a low-cost cell phone service provider that you may have first heard about through one of its TV commercials. Those ads say the service can cut your cell phone bill in half, but is it worth the savings? I first tested Consumer Cellular in 2019 and signed up again in late 2021 because there have been some big changes with the service. In this video, I’ll explain the pros and cons that you need to know before you sign up. Read my full review here: michaelsaves.com/cell-phones/...

@@MichaelSavesPlus Also, (I read or heard that with) NEW customers will be given ATT (“no, if, and, or, ….buts🤔). The “Older/longer” customers that have been with them get to choose, I THINK, but don’t quote me😅. MASSIVE THANKS for this!!! 🙏🏻 👍🏻 I WILL be changing from ATT to Consumer Cellular, but NOT for “service/cell/tower” reason. Mine goes deeper and for being a so-called “Loyal Customer”! I’ve been with their cell service since early mid-1990s about 1992-1993. Don’t remember the exact year (I’m old now 59!! 🤣). But let’s just put it this way, it does NOT means I’m going to roll over & let them “give me a free/new phone” if I add an extra line to drop/LOWER my cell phone bill!!!🤔 I’m old and don’t need all the bells & whistles that comes with EVERY NOW. Plus, I was GRANDFATHERED in to where I had TRUE “UNLIMITED DATA”, until they weaseled away from me with unlimited texted. I DON’T TEXT!! But they got what they wanted as time changed. TMI.!!! Sorry, take care. ✌🏻

We've been with CC for 3-4 years now. Yes, unlimited was pricey, but a bargain compared to Verizon, (which we dropped). Now that we're both retired, we have a much cheaper plan that works out with Unlimited talk&text and very little data we don't use anymore anyway. Yes, phones are limited from them, but we've had no problems with getting one's that fit our needs and budget. We're happy with them. They're affordable, reliable, and customer service is top shelf.

I Definitely can agree there about Verizon. My family uses 3 different devices and 3 different carriers based on each person's needs. The one thing I do like about Verizon is being able to tether(create a hot spot on my device for anyone where I go that is secure. ) As a veteran I do get $15 off my bill each month.

I have Consumer Cellular and it's awesome! I don't have to deal with these so called "hidden" charges that I was hit with every month for basically nothing. I had a major carrier and they screwed me royally. I've had to pay very little. I pay the same every month and I have more than enough data, texting and calls. I can do a lot now than I ever could with the other carriers. Consumer Cellular I'm 57 and all I pay is 45 dollars a month for unlimited texting calling and data. Customer service was awesome. The phones I needed budget wise were reasonable. I paid less for my phones and if I had a problem they helped me a lot.

Not all of the information you provided is accurate as of 2023/2024. CC offers unlimited plans now for a family of 5, such as mine. I pay about $145/month for all 5 of us. My daughter is a teenage cellphone maven and uses up the data cap within the first week each month. Yes, there is a data cap on their unlimited plan.... The most annoying thing about this is the barrage of emails CC sends to me to notify my family reached the limit. They toggle the data speed down, but honestly, I don't notice any difference in the speed. BTW - AT&T was charging me twice the price for the same service. With AT&T, whenever you call customer service, you speak with someone from either India or the Phillipines. "Please let me know if I speak too fast or too slow." Ugh! When I call CC customer service, I speak with some woman from the US (usually Kentucky). Thanks!

Target no longer sells iPhones. I called today- 3/16/23 and was told they gave up selling them before the pandemic. I had to call Apple and order my iPhones, both a 14 (with 512 GB) and 14 Plus (with 128 GB) , for $2, 202 incl. tax. WAY too expensive! But I couldn't find a (Consumer Cellular) iPhone any cheaper. We've been with them for almost 10 years...back when they were awesome. I knew nothing about the buyout until a couple of months ago when they cut my service off without asking me whether or not the data usage was valid which really pissed me off. Trying to get a hold of customer service in a "timely" manner is non existent with wait times in excess of a half hour or longer, and the call back request service is hit or miss. I hate to even comment but I have been trying to transfer my cell service from ATT to Consumer Cellular for the last couple of days. I admit I only have a PHD in chemistry and may not be bright enough to figure out how to do this but so far it has been a nightmare! I spent over 3 hours on the phone yesterday trying to get the SIM cards working on two phones without success. To be honest the customer service, while mostly polite, obviously were over worked and just not setup to help. I am in the US and had the additional barrier that usually results when talking to non-native English speaker. I am not blaming the person on the other end of the line but the system is fundamentally flawed. The advertisement stating “all you have to do is put in the new SIM and away you go” is flat BS. Fortunately ATT is equally efficient and have not shut off my service so I still have a phone that works! If (when) I do it all over again I will do a lot more up front research. Zero stars at this point.

All these phone companies have third worlders who work cheap for them and can’t speak good English. It’s infuriating. Congress needs to pass a law that nationalizes phone companies meaning like they once were in that you can go into any town within 1/2 hour of where you live and talk to somebody about your phone service or pay your bill in full. Please don’t tell me that can’t be done because it used to be done in America and no more foreigners working for these phone companies. It should be Americans working for them in our country only Damn globalists. And we hate AARP. My Mother says it’s liberal garbage and it is.

My question is do you visible and the other service you mentioned have unlimited hotspot if so how much does a charge please oh the other thing I found extremely deceptive, the representative told me I could use my phone if it was unlocked and would accept their SIM card however, and this is a big notable however, they said they could suddenly not accept the phone and then you would be required to buy one of their pricey phones

@@MichaelSavesPlus Exactly, the reason why I commented about Visible not being an option for most Seniors is that unfortunately the style of CS that Visible uses is not good for that demographic. When you get to the secure check-out, after picking a plan and filling the info they ask for, they will do a credit check. Once approved, you will have opportunity to pick your shipping cost, and then your phone will be sent to you within a week. Hi Michael. I've heard you recommend US Mobile and Stetson Doggett also recommend US Mobile. I've read some fairly bad customer reviews about US Mobile and bad experiences on Reddit. They have a F rating from the BBB. May I ask why you would recommend a company with an F rating? Do you have a personal experience with US Mobile? Thank you. 🙂

Thanks for the tips. It may be that verizon ditches Safelink, which is how I'm getting ATT MVNO now. Prices continue to come down, but ATT "prime" is prohibitively expensive. It's wait-and-see for the moment.

You know one thing I hear about to consumer Cellular is you know they're a very good company one of my relatives has consumer Cellular she's had it for 5 years she's had no problems with it but I'm glad to hear that this is going on well since this is a postpaid company just like T-Mobile is but it's a nvno or shall we say mvno is what I was trying to say is I think that's a good idea. But here's the deal I can pay my bill just about as much as I can but if I can actually finance the phone that will be great I can do that up front and make sure it gets done the way it's supposed to be but the bottom line is if we had everybody switching to consumer Cellular from their current carrier like what I'm doing with T-Mobile because I'm switching from T-Mobile to consumer Cellular this would be better for me anyway because basically I don't need to be paying anywhere between 100 to $150 for phone service that does not cut it at all it doesn't cut it at all that is why I like the idea of having a plan that will benefit me in the long run. And I like $25 plan for 3 GB I don't mind and besides that I have a hotspot or shall I say I have Wi-Fi here in my home why do I need to use cellulite data or shall we say the internet on my phone and use the three gigabytes basically if you got Wi-Fi in your own house that's what I'm concerned about because basically I think for me this will be a lot better a month sounds just about right because that's exactly what my sister is paying right now she's paying $25 a month for service.

I started CC after my brother told me of their benefits. 2 years earlier I listened to Sean Hannity talk about the benefit of pure talk. I tried to call him but I knew he was getting paid a sponsorship for doing their ads. He wasn't lying about the saving except if you had the unlimited data plan like I took it was a complete sham. After 30G the speed slows and at 60G you have none. Something they don't tell you, so if you want more they will sell it to you for 1-2G for $10 Dollars extra. What a rip off! I served during Vietnam and POST war army airborne in the infantry in the most dangerous jobs then when getting out after 6 years became a police officer and medic. I later spent 2 more years in the coast guard also volunteering but without the pay. Joined a task force county police for 7 years without pay. For me it was about helping my country and when Hannity said how it was veteran owned I felt what a traitor company like Veterans United that sold me on a VA loan. They put me through so much I nearly volunteered for suicide missions against the cartel. They rob you blind with prepayment holding of your money. Consumer Cellular is for real a company that is straight up. The only issue I had was going without a phone for 10 days when I should have gone to a target to get the Sim card. The name has to be spelled exactly when you port over a phone line as it took several extra days because I go by Mike Scott or Michael Scott and Pure Talk only excepted the name you signed up with. After a week of no phone I got more frustrated. My job as a medic I relied on my data for GPS when running emergency calls and I couldn't get to the patient when my data plan stopped working. I couldn't even get a temp on my phone. I think everyone should know how bad pure talk is when needing data cost lives pure talk was tantamount to being guilty of fraud and a party to murder.

I think as a whole CC should just charge a reasonable lower Unlimited Fee. Reason being... I looked through more than 2 years of my mothers Data usage and most of her Data usage was at most 5GB at any given month. I noticed one month her use went up to 10GB but I am going to probably say she didnt have her WIFI on.So, If you have a parent who uses CC and is not to tech savvy please ensure to ask them to get access to their accounts/bills and view their accounts periodically. I like the fact that you can change plans every month if you keep on top of it and there is no overage fees. So, in essence my mother has been paying for the Unlimited Plan for like 22 months when she should have been paying for the 5GB plan... I'm a little bit peeved and I am going to keep on this like "White on Rice!!!! Her bill initially when she first got the service was good however, factor in at that time she did not have Internet/WIFI through her cable company so naturally she was using/browsing the internet and using DATA from her phone plan etc..... Also, Seniors and children like myself please set up data usage alerts just in case that way you know that maybe Mom or Dad has not got their device WIFI enabled at home. Ensure that your parents plan is always at or around the DATA plan amount it should be at depending on what kind of DATA usage is used.I am seriously going to look into other plans like VISIBLE Wireless or MINT mobile. There plans are set at $25 or $35 dollars a month.Less work then to go and change the plan every month.

Customer cellular is garbage! Verizon is the only smartphone network worth having because these cheap networks are like used car salesman. Its pointless to have 5g if it's not unlimited and consistent and can can shared to shared because the whole value prostitution of bandwidth is productivity. Version my not 100mps in rual Kansas but at least the speeds are consistent and you can share that internet as you please as much as you please. If you used home internet on a smartphone to justify your pitiful data allowance then you don't need a smartphone because you can just use your iPad with wifi calling apps. The reason why Verizon has contract's and lowers the flat rate bill per person based on how many are in a family plan is to stop your mom/Dad from signing up for these saw dust networks.
