So many reviewers don’t understand what a draw awd plus hybrid is. I want a trunk due to security. I don’t want people seeing what I have in the back. I’m a middle age woman. Want a nice car. No longer need all the space of a highlander and want a nice, smooth quiet ride that is safe in the snow and gets good gas mileage and has the newest tech.

The newest Tech might be an overstatement. For the price, it should have a HUD, Ambient lighting, More power adjustments (seat and wheel), etc. If you want the newest tech you don't get Toyota or Lexus. I love the limited trim and especially the climate concierge. I think it should be better for MSRP. Luckily many dealers are selling it at MSRP or lower and not 8k above like a Prius or Grand Highlander.

I just wish that this craze for ever larger wheels would turn the corner (pun intended) and people would start appreciating the lower cost of tires and other advantages. 21" wheels are totally impractical where I live, where the roads are terrible, just full of potholes, etc.
@gthelee3412
@gthelee3412 Жыл бұрын
I completely agree! Higher cost, harsh ride, much higher risk of damaging a wheel. They are great for a sporty car, but not practical for a family truckster. I wonder if the people that are wanting the bigger wheels are just leasing and never pay for replacement tires.

So far based on the reviews I love the Ltd trim of the Crown, what appeals to me is the seat height (easy in and out) and the overall build but for a $50K car that is supposed to be Toyota's flagship I wish they had a tendered to 3 simple items. 1. lack of HUD, 2. lack of a blind spot camera which is available even on a CRV, 3. The trunk lid should be on struts rather than a bar that you have to manually put in place to keep it open. I hope Toyota Engineers will look into these simple fixes for the next model year. It is the middle of 2023 and unfortunately I have yet to see a single Crown on the road.
@djplonghead5403
@djplonghead5403 5 ай бұрын
The only time I would use hood struts is to check oil (not sure if that voids warranty), so I don't know if that should be there or not. I agree with the trunk struts- most sedans at this price or cheaper are on struts- the Crown just pops it and you have to lift it up. A HUD would be nice. Ambient Lighting would be nice (Our 2016 La Crosse has beautiful lighting) 12-14 way seats would be nice- not 8. Power tilt/tele wheel would be nice for entry & exit- our 2014 Lexus has it so I feel it should of trickled down after 10 years. Standard 360 view on the Limited would be nice- having to push the car to 50k to get it is crazy... also I don't want the 21 wheel in order to get it. I don't mind the CVT but I wish there was more insulation to the cabin- The Honda Accord does a better job. The 2025 Model year fixes a lot of these issues but only for the Platinum... not the common bought Limited. I like the illuminated door sills.

Consumer reports: Keep talking about this CVT. Everyone who is into cars (your viewers) pretty much know this, whats called eCVT is a Motor/Generator/Engine combined transmission, not really CVT, same as Highlander Hybrid, RAV4 hybrid, which are same as a Prius from 20 years ago. Appreciate if you can drop this CVT thing, refer to as what it is. Also, you talk about this Hybrid as if you don't know anything about it. Its exactly same as Highlander Hybrid power train and has been discussed in many channels on here on KZbin. Kelly presented very good perspective about this car as well as answered the question from viewer very well.

Right! It would have made SO much sense to do that. This vehicle is 196" long yet has just 15.2 Cu Ft of trunk space. I wonder if more space would have been available in a sportback design? Why do you people keep saying that the sedan market is dying. There are a few of us unless we are dying as well. Who will never buy an SUV or a truck. So cars like this will still appeal to us. Also as old folks, we can't turn as far over our shoulders to see things coming as we used to. So having blindside monitoring services will more than compensate for the rear view that we normally would try to achieve.

I looked at the Crown and your wrong. For less or the same money you can get a Lexus ES. I went for the 2024 Lexus. You might get 1 year of free service 1 oil change vs 2. You get a better 5 year bumper to bumper coverage. If my 2013 Avalon Limited road as nice as the ES350, I would have kept it.

The ES and Crown are similar. To get heated and vented seats in the ES, along with the larger screen, you are pushing 50K. You can get a limited crown with the auto park for 50K. I like the Lexus because of the real wood and real aluminum but I think the Crown is much better as a base limited (47,000) compared to a base ES 300h (same powertrain) which costs 46,000.

Being pushed out of modern sedans due to the lower, sleeker stance and styling (yes, the auto makers did it to themselves), I can appreciate the new Crown. I don't care that it's a sedan on stilts... This is coming from a guy that thought the AMC Eagle was an alright looking vehicle. 😉 Sedans became unusable, and this gets back to an ease of entry / exit that is in a relatively good looking package. There are HUGE differences between cars, even in the same segment. Obviously a big one is reliability, fuel economy, available safety (for example automatic emergency braking) and comfort which is very personal depending on height, driving position, etc. Ride/handling is another big one as well, a long commute or road trip can be pretty miserable with a rough riding car and/or noisy one (wind, engine noise).

This oddball version of the new Toyota Crown is to cars what the platform running shoe is to footwear. Besides the contradictory messages conveyed by its exterior 'styling', another frustrating feature of the Crown is the fact the comfortably raised seating position is immediately compromised by a reduction in headroom compared to the Camry. Yes, Toyota raised this sedan then squashed the passenger compartment. We can only HOPE Toyota brings over one of the more balanced and functional Crown models that made their debut last summer because this one is destined to be known as the Clown. 🤨

matt, your post is right on. So NEVER tell service the problem is intermittent, and never diagnose the problem (they DEEPLY resent it when the user knows more than they do). At first. Of course they will reset the error code, and say they can't replicate. Demand a copy of the diagnostic scan. Then show the maintenance manager your OBD2 scan, your forum and KZbin data. Give the mm one more chance to do the right thing. Then escalate: 1-800, burn them in multiple online reviews, post on user forums the name of the dealership, etc.

The phrase 'old people's car' is getting old. In the past, some older people bought Toyotas to feel young. Now Toyotas are for the older crowd and older people are getting shamed when buying a big comfortable car. The media tells you that you must have a sporty, high tech car if you want to hang on to your youth.

Hey talking car folks, we older people aren't really looking for excitement driving such as in a BMW. We want quiet we want confident we want reliable we want safe.

The smaller 19 inch wheels are still too large. Have the designers of these cars ever driven on normal roads? Give me 17s for winter, 18s for the rest of the year and a spare instead of a useless can of fix-a-flat.

I thought the answer to the reader/viewer submitted question was obvious; Stop going to a mechanic or dealership who is not certified or does not have factory certified techs to work on your car. Simple as that. With that said, these three lost me. They sure do talk a lot, but they are not really saying anything. Blocking this channel.

The Crown seems to me to be a car for people who aren’t morbidly obese so they don’t need an SUV and would like something sleek with more responsive handling. The only reason this (car) “sector is dying” is because people are so damn beeeg!

i made the mistake of buying one of these!!!!! Uncomfortable, slow, brakes weak, if you are 6ft. tall or taller it is not for you, too small! If you are thin you can not reach the door armrest, the door armrest is also off set from the other armrest! If you put the seat all the way back you run out of door armrest it is too short!!!! What a mess!!! Oh and after spending ten minutes setting my seat up when I turn the car off it makes the seat go all the way back and makes it hard to get out of!!! TOTAL SH/T CAR F OFF TOYOTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DID NOT GET A SECOND KEY AFTER 2 MONTHS!!!! terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
