(ive had it for 6 months) it has outemu blue switches which are really loud and im looking for a new keyboard with quieter switches. found this, gonna get the reds and put my hyperx pbt keycaps on it. thanks!

I have a phantom and its still really good, still works perfectly with the rgb and has no problems, have it for almost 2 years. You can mod it easily specially that it is hot swappable and tecware has a new shroud available for it (which I also got). Tecware also has a new 60 percent keyboard calledf b68, will surely get that as well, bluetooth, usb c, hotswappable gateron or outemu, and very affordable.

Gateron switches won't work well with Outemu board, their pins shape are different (Gateron is flat/rectangle while Outemu is round). If you force a Gateron switch into Outemu board, the pins will either get bended or worst get pushed into the switch housing.

@@tomywu That's what I initially thought. Though, in his video he somehow managed to flawlessly slide the Gateron switch into the PCB. I feel that it might've been the tolerance of the sockets though, and those specific sockets were just wide enough for Gateron. Oh well to one's charade. Still waiting on soldering equipment for BOX Jades though.

@@sophidomi. I own the very first version of Tecware Phantom 87 and I cannot put a Gateron switch into the board without either bending or pushing the pins into the switch housing. Maybe the newer version of Phantom 87 does have a different socket? I don't know..

I've had the red switches version of this keyboard for about a year now, the keyboard is very sturdy but the backplate gets dirty before you know it, one of me keycaps have gone completely slippery with no grip at all so swapped it for an arrow key, the hot swappable switches however are useful and only very recently have I had a faulty key and had to swap the switch. this keyboard is definitely one of the best out there, however the switches are outemu and are found on cheap keyboards, if you dont wear headphones you will hear a slight "ding" which can get annoying sometimes, it feels really good to type on and I would definitely recommend to anyone that types a lot but for gaming there are a few better options out there (you might want to look into a gk61 but if you want a TKL then maybe look at the hyperx alloy fps keyboards if you are willing to spend a bit more money. The RGB has everything and for the software is great but its basically impossible to try and set up a macro. The on board RGB controls are very confusing so your better off using the software. You need to remember how cheap this keyboard is and that your getting insane value for the price. Oh and I also forgot, the stabilisers are cheap and my space bar feels like a sea saw.

I have this keyboard I can say it is good for gamers that are wanting to switch from Membrane to mechanical. One thing wrong I have had is the right shift, over time it will break. The thing that holds in place to stop it from tilting breaks.

Simply put it's a very good keyboard for the money. I have the ons with Outemu reds stock but I modded mine a little. If you lube the switches (easy to do since they're hotswappable), clip and lube stabs (also band aid mod is nice here) and put a dampening foam it get SOOO MUCH better. Also if you cannot fit other switches than outemus (older version), you can get some other switches with larger stems (like kailh box or gateron etc etc) you can just squish the larger stem with pliers and fit them anyway. You don't damage anything, just modify slitglty and BAM you can get much better switches. I put some gateron yellows in mine, lubed by myself and it's a very nice pleasure typing experience. I know it's much work but it's worth it :D Some would say you could get directly a better keyboard but modding is so fun for me. EDIT: it's also possible, if you're fine with soldering, to make a detachable cable mod. I did it on mine with good results.

@@coconut193 no issues whatsoever with the top cover. It's nice and tight. The whole keyboard is still going strong. The mods made it definitely much better than stock, I compared it to a stock red outemu version of a friend of mine, and mine is simply much much better. Only defect is, one of my keys rgb led has the Red color broken (probably the red led is busted), not a big deal for me though. It broke some months ago. I use only white color.

I've had this keyboard for over three years straight, and have used it on several systems. Can say with absolute certainty that it's one of the best I've ever used. Amazing, durable body with amazing, tacky keys. Unfortunately, age is finally starting to get to mine, as the left alt key has completely stopped working, but an absolute recommend nonetheless.

I've had mine since August last year, and lemme tell you sumth. This keyboard is absolutely worth it to pick up for anyone who's lookin for a neat gaming keyboard without breaking the bank. Only issue I have with it really, is the fact that the paint on the keyboard around the arrow keys tend to chip off easily, so I recommend getting the other attachments for it (Tecware Phantom Shroud, the "skirt" of the keyboard shown in the vid.) Tecware also made their own pudding keycaps, which I've yet to try (but purchased) but overall, this keyboard is great for people who are new to the mech keyboard scene. Sidenote: If you have issues opening the software for the keyboard, I suggest right clicking the app icon, and hit "run as administrator". Hope this helps for those who are looking to buy this keyboard!

I like the keyboard and wanted to upgrade to Gateron Brown Pro. This was a nogo for me. Tried 10 and all 10 were damaged in the attempt. I'll lube the present switches someday but apparently your results will vary. Maybe a different production run and this would work just fine but my marriage just wouldn't go. I had no problem reinstalling the original switches without even one failure so........... Grain of salt time amigos.

RK for sure, both of them are hot-swappable but RK is more variety on connection. Plus the 75% form of RK is not hard to get used to ( took like 15 mins or so ).

@@simpletoast708 I have the 104 key full size with outemu reds short answer: you're paying $50 for a lot, but not everything. long answer: 1. it uses outemu switches, so switch ping and switch scratchiness is given, 2. the stabs are lubed so they sound nice for the for first months, but get more rattly over time (relube to remove rattle) 3. it uses 4 degree typing angle, and 10 degree with flip up feet 4. video stated that you could swap gaterons, from my experience only outemu fitted without bending the pins 5. keyboard uses non-dense foam so the board itself has a bit of ping. 6. One of the only keyboards that offer hot swap sockets for $50 so that is a steal 7. Mech switches even if it is just outemu feels waaay better than rubber dome 8. It is a steal cuz $50 could be spent on just 100 outemu switches alone, but you spend $50 for a keyboard with outemu switches, outemu hot swap sockets, pre lubed stabs, and non-dense foam. obviously in the mech world. more money = more quality this keyboard saved you a lot of money for a lot of trade-offs.
