every video has skipped the part where the printer actually prints the image. Not cut it but print it. Do i have to print the image in my regular printer then stick it on the cutting mat? Do I use regular white printer paper or are you using a white vinyl sheet? If it is possible to print the image with the cricut, do I have to take the needle off and replace it with some sort of pen attachment? sorry this may be silly question but I'm a newby

Can you use a Cricut pen to draw or write something and then cut the image? A friend gave me her machine when she upgraded. I bought cardstock to do cards but can't find any instructions for writing then cutting.

Hi Justin. I'd recommend you get the vinyl bundle. You can do tons of stuff with vinyl like make stickers for the back of your car or mailbox. Here's a link. amzn.to/2gZK9z0 (affiliate)

I've read numerous reviews concerning Design Space and how horrific it is. Is it really that bad? I've read that lag/wait times just for simple fonts to load and other issues due to it being internet-based make simple projects take forever to complete, when they should really only take maybe 10 or 15 minutes. I've also read how terrible Cricut's customer service is, many saying don't even waste your time on trying to contact them about a problem. Have you encountered any of this? I'm so interested in this cutter, but I don't want to be frustrated, slowed down and held back by Design Space! :(

Also I'm a little confused about the Design Space subscription! You only have to pay for a subscription to access their graphics, correct? You don't pay just to use it to cut images you already have created, right?

+lmccall94 So the software is free, but the designs cost money. You can cut your own designs for free. The software is as bad as you can see in the video. It's possible it might work better in a different browser or os ( I use chrome and MacBook Pro). I haven't used it extensively so not sure what other little quirks there are or even if the one in the video is a recurring problem. In comparing it with the major competitors Brother Scan N Cut can function without a computer and has a web app and the Silhouette Cameo has a dedicated desktop program. The Explore is my favorite because it was the easiest to get setup and has the lowest overall cost for replacement mats and blades. I could look past some of the web app quirks. It's possible as a long term user the software may get in the way so I'd love to hear from others.
