Contact and Droplet Precautions (Nursing Skills)

Nurses often care for patients that require the use of personal protective equipment, known as PPE. Sometimes we have to combine more than one set of skills and in this video is about Contact and Droplet Precautions when providing patient care. This is a commonly used nursing skill.

Knowing when to use additional PPE requirements is a nursing responsibility. We often are educating family, visitors, and patients on the requirements of infection control and prevention.

Can you give an example of additional precaution (droplet) plz?

I am not sure what you are asking for as I talk about putting contact precautions together with droplet precautions. Contact precautions do not require all the PPE we show here

can you exit the room with the ppe on or do you remove clothing in the room

It will depend on where your receptacles are - typically they are at the exit by the door and all PPE is removed before you leave. Some rooms will have a don/doff room (anteroom)
