It's interesting to see what scans from a Contax point and shoot look like. I feel like it would be hard to tell them apart from Olympus xa, canon sure shot 85 zoom, even some photos my Olympus trip MD has made. Seeing prints may be different. And it makes sense the Contax feels really nice to hold, shoot, and just have, but I say to all who want to just make pictures! Get whatever you can, you won't be dissapointed. Just keep using it and you will hopefully be able to appreciate it and get out of it whatever it is capable of, which most likely will be on Par with most other cameras. As usual, love your video! Rock on.

That intro, so good. Also, excited to see the KC stuff.(yes I paused to type this) Also, just arrived to Slaps in the video. it's a hidden gem that many in KC overlook because they think Arthur Bryants or Q39 is the go-to. Slaps is the King, in my opinion. Okay, back to the video. I am back.. Love easy sport, nice summer brew! Okay, back to it. Also, I love some tmax. It's the first film I shot when I started shooting film in 2019. Good luck on your search for the HoloG Charzzz. Crazy how much is left in the schools. In kansas abandoned schools are a common thing these days but I've never venture into them for the same reason you went running, noises ha. Still haven't visited the castle but I watched a documentary awhile back that shot a good amount of footage there. Wish I could remember who it was but anyways back to the video. Okay, I found it. It's called "U shoot videos?" Okay, so I love a good point and shoot and take one everyday with me to work and just out and about. Never know when you find that shot you want. I use a Canon Autoboy D5 as my everyday carry. Can't wait to see the road trip footage as I see we are getting closer! (sorry if this live commentary is annoying)

Man those short ribs are to die for! I'm glad you know about that place too! and yeah I had a whole list of schools I wanted to go to but a lot of them are fenced off... I don't play that game... yet.. haha but I love the old look and just seeing how the place exists at these times... I hope they can be reused in some way! OH Morgan Cooper! I think my buddy works with him on a bunch of stuff, that dude is doing big things. and damn that camera looks wack but that is awesome! I bet that is fun to shoot with. thanks for sticking though the videos! Love the commentary 😍
@DLivingston3 жыл бұрын
@@BadFlashes Slaps is a common place for family get together when we all meet in KC which is pretty often. I always watch videos all the way through, you keep them moving and funny so it's easy to pause and type and continue on. As for the Canon Autoboy, it is a different beast and only bought it to take on a trip in a few months and leading up to that it's been fun to use. Also has that fake panorama mode where a black shade on the top and bottom of the frame come in to five off that wide pano style, tried it once and probably wont waste any film doing that again LOL Anyways, great video as always dude. Have a good one and hope you have a ice cold tank 7 today!

I think I'll keep my Konica Big Mini and my Olympus Stylus Epics, thanks. I think I have something like $40 between all four of them and all of their lenses are excellent. The Konica's auto focus may be a bit better (faster, quieter and more accurate.) The Olympus cameras might be a bit more rugged.
@BadFlashes3 жыл бұрын
You like the big mini? I’ve looked into those before. Look great
@michaelsherck50993 жыл бұрын
@@BadFlashes I like my Big Mini but it's quite feature-poor compared to the Contax: no selection of aperture, no manual focus and no shutter control. A true point 'n shoot. Of course, it doesn't cost a grand, either. :)
@BadFlashes3 жыл бұрын
Well I guess I don’t need a lot of features haha
@michaelsherck50993 жыл бұрын
@@BadFlashes I think that the features we expect from a camera are really a combination of the cameras we're used to and what we've come to prefer. As a guy who shoots mostly large format I obviously prefer cameras which do as little as possible to "help" me. This doesn't mean that I'm a great photographer (I was once described as the worst photographer unlynched -- yet,) it just means that after spending all day writing computer programs I'd really rather spend my free time away from automation. I throw the Big Mini, or one of the Olympuses, in my pocket when I'm not expecting to take pictures but hope the opportunity pops up. If I anticipate the opportunity to take a photograph I'll take a different camera, depending on mood and circumstances. Oddly, most of my cameras were not lovingly stalked and bought because I lusted after them. My wife used to go to a lot of auctions and if the price was cheap, buy me the occasional box of goodies. I have more cameras than I really need and some of them even work!
@redsphoto67083 жыл бұрын
Fire photos as always fam! Though I am curious if you did something different for those Tmax 100 shots, they seemed lower contrast? than what I'd expect (though I have never shot T100 before) Damn the T2 be smexy, loved the theft from poor unsuspecting Jason lol. Does the T2 tell you the focusing distance? I have a TVS-3 and it at least tells me the distance it chose to focus at so then I can gauge if it found the right subject or not usually (although tragically mine isn't working up to spec and usually fails to focus all together ;___; ). Speaking of which do try one of the TVs someday, my specific focus problems aside my TVS-3 is a joy to use and does take great photos (pricey as heck but not T2 level thankfully). Given the problems with my TVS3 my favorite "point and shoot" is actually the Konica Hexar AF (technically an AF rangefinder I know). Yeah it is a fair bit chonkier than the Ts and it requires an external flash, but it works so well for family pictures at gatherings and stuff. Very reliable autofocus, good metering, a very nice lens etc etc
@BadFlashes3 жыл бұрын
Oh man I definitely want to try a TVs for sure. I should have picked one up a while ago but just didn’t. As for Tmax 100 it was my first time too. Cold have been my editing style. I like medium amount of contrast for black and white :) Thanks for digging the episode 🥳🥰🤩

is there any reason at all to buy a point&shoot camera for the same amount of money as a Contax G with a couple of lenses or an M6 ? Would you ever buy a small japanese car for the same price of a Porsche cabrio ? by the way I use a very small, very cheap RF camera with a tessar 42mm f2.8 and I think it's an excellent focal lenght just a little wider than a 50 but not so much to be a wide angle (normal lenses are way more flexible for any purpose than any other focal lenght)

To this day I am beating myself up for stupidly passing on a Contax T2 I found at a thrift store for $5. At the time (2014) I had no idea of what that camera was. I was there looking for an Olympus Epic, because that's all I was told by everyone to look for. When I got home that day from passing up on that T2, I looked it up (I would have looked it up on my phone, but I believe it was dead or at like 2% battery life) and instantly had regret for not going with my gut feeling. I went back to that thrift store with the hope it was still there, just sitting on the shelf, waiting for me, but at last, no luck. Right when I walked in I saw some lucky person buying the camera. So yeah, that's my "almost owning a $5 Contax T2" story. I did find a Yashica T4 (non-super) at that same thrift store in 2018 for $2. The T4 was great, but I wanted more control. I ended up giving it to my friend that was looking for a good P&S. He's loving it, so that's good. I have to say that I no longer lust over the Contax T2. I now own (thank you stimulus) a Fujifilm Klasse (O.G., non S or W) and I absolutely love it. Maybe you should give one a try.
