Presented by Contemplative Outreach, this is the third main talk in an enrichment weekend by Fr. Richard Rohr and Fr. Thomas Keating, recorded Sept. 29, 2007 in Houston, TX.
Fr. Richard explains the six stages of consciousness, during which a conversion breakthrough comes through suffering, intense love, and a moment of divine experience, where we pass through the analytical to the intuitive, which opens us to non-duality reality - mystical reality. In the words of Fr. Carl Arico (who has so generously been providing these summaries), "You got to hear this."
For the complete listing of all talks from this event, visit the playlist at • Contemplative Vision: ... .
The Center for Action and Contemplation, which Fr. Richard founded, is at www.cac.org. It works to address the deep need for the integration of both action and contemplation.
Contemplative Outreach, which Fr. Thomas helped found, is at www.contemplati.... It promotes and supports the practice of Centering Prayer.

I listen as I walk on the beach every morning, on a beach in New Zealand, and I always have more to reflect on, to share in prayers with my students. Blessings and strength to Father Rohr and the Centre for Action and Contemplation.

I have followed your teachings for many years now -I am 81 years old now - this lecture however -which which was about 7 yrs ago - still had lots to teach me. I am Roman Catholic and have survived it through your teachings as you gave me permission to ignore the things I can’t accept and be patient with my friends who are more conservative. I love the Church and am so glad to be able to still enjoy being a practicing member!

I enjoy the depth, wisdom and insight that Richard Rohr shares from his huge heart. I have to admit when he kicks the political football down the field, I would rather remain in the parking lot with tailgating partiers, than enter the stadium and have to pick a side to root for.

Ah yes..."feel a little crazy" very true. It's hard to find a resting place to just be in the space of unknowing It does need great suffering and development of intuitive experience Being married to a Church of England priest who disregarded disrespected rubbished anything to do with mystery....he believed his truth the only respectful truth...broke up our marriage Where upon the Church community decided I was wrong and evil This is where it leads to

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience in the church. As a preacher's kid myself, I also suffered greatly at the hands of upstanding church members who treated me with great disrespect and scorn as if I, a woman and girl, had anything of worth to contribute to the religious dialogue. In fact I felt beaten with Paul's statements about women being silent in church and not given public roles. It makes me really appreciate Richard's teachings and helps me to remember my love for Jesus and how genuine and real it was at that time in my life.

Ironic that churchy people often do not live by the simple directions left us by the Master, to love each other as He loved us.... Sigh ... Humans are slow to learn sometimes and also slow to look within, to be self reflective, to take responsibility for our individial behaviors n choices ... Blaming out there is more apt to be the course we take, rather than looking within my self to learn my part in the hurting or hurtful experience ... Churchies often do the finger-pointing to avoid the responsibility taking ... sigh

Sorry for the delayed response (we might check comments only monthly). Presentation 2 is by Fr. Keating rather than Fr. Rohr, and is at kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGHWg6qVqNx3fa8. RR is a Universalist. He promotes syncretism. In scripture he would be labeled a false prophet. There is only One Mediator between God and man. Christ Jesus. Yes Christ is King and on a throne. Pantocrator. Romans talks about those who worship the creation. God hands them over to a debased mind. Tickling itching ears.
