I Thanks for watching and considering subscribing. Question 1: Cultural divergence is when a culture starts to split or separate, while cultural convergence is when two cultures come together. Question 2: The internet has led to more contagious diffusion to happen. Cultures, ideas, and goods/service can spread around the world in a matter of minutes now. This has promoted more modern/pop culture and has reduced the amount of unique folk and indigenous cultures in the world. (This is due to people adapting modern/pop culture traits) Question 3: 1)The internet 2)Trade deals 3)Migration of People 4) Political treaties 5) Businesses spreading around the world 6) Globalization Question 4: Some folk and indigenous cultures resist modern day technology in an effort to protect their unique culture. For example some culture does censor the internet or block it entirely to prevent people from taking on cultural traits from other countries.

1. cultural divergence - when individuals diverge from certain parts of their culture and replace it/incorporate w/ other cultures. however, this isn't forgetting their whole culture. cultural convergence - when cultures combine/become global and homogeneous, which can often result in erasure of other cultures (esp. indigenous/folk cultures). 2. internet is making it easier - i.e., through social media, zoom calls, etc. 3. COVID - zoom call business meetings, resulting in interaction between different geological places. social media - diffuses english through its common use, which makes more people wnat to learn it. music - often sang in english, once again diffusing it for the same reason as in 2. 4. bc it increases the chance that their culture or language is erased

Odd, we learned something different about cultural divergence. It's not when cultures leave certain traits and take on others. It's when cultures become less alike due to cultural/physical movement. Like the process of a culture restricting contact with other cultures to preserve their own culture (applies to indigenous/folk cultures where they isolate themselves from the global/pop culture). What's right?
