Yeah I hated that. I get that Kojima likes to mess with people and subvert all our super spy soldier power fantasies...but even older snake, greying snake would be fine but old and old crusty snake just felt meh.

I’d love to get more of you’re opinion on the Peace Walker Incident. When he excepts the mission from Zadornov; we all know it’s because of the Bosses voice on the tape, but with how the line is delivered I’ve always felt like he believed himself when Snake said he’s accepting the mission for “peace”

Big Boss was personally hurt by the government's decision to discard her and wanted to form his own sanctuary for soldiers. Snake was personally hurt by Big Boss's decision to create chaos and chose a solitary road. Regime vs a path of self discovery. That's what made Solid the victor among all the snakes.

Although I agree with most of what you are saying I think you missed a few factors that play into their psychology Big Boss was exposed to war and orphaned around the age of 6 when Pearl Harbor happened according to the unofficial official biography even if you don’t consider it cannon he was still 14 when he was trained by The Boss(roughly 4 years younger than Solid Snake don’t get me wrong 19 is young too but Solid Snake didn’t see a lot of combat until he was a little older) and a failure on her part she didn’t teach him the principles of peace and leaving the world as it is she taught him how to be a soldier first and foremost which explains why he sees it as betrayal and unlike Solid Snake Big Boss didn’t have a support system or a person to tell him no. I imagine that if Solid Snake didn’t have otacon he would have turned out the same way or worse and it probably helped with the ability to cope other than that great video 😊👍🏻
