This video was made at a time where I had not yet known Etika. Not long after this I got the opportunity to meet him in person, apologize, and later I started enjoying his content. Each Nintendo direct I anticipated watching his hilarious reactions and takes. As time passed, I saw him go through his mental issues and felt horrible knowing how much he must have been suffering. Now, I feel even worse after his passing. Those comments made in this video were out of ignorance of who Etika was at the time, they are a blemish on me and they don’t represent how I grew to know and appreciate who Etika was and what he did. That is why Ive decided to edit out my comments referring to him as simply “overreacting”. Etika stood for much more than that and he brought joy and laughter to millions of people including myself. I want to honor his legacy, not tarnish it.

I like Ian's content cop series. I was excited he did one on how to prank it up. It was funny bc it focused on my channel not "me" as a person. Content cop did not destroy my channel. My inactivity and stagnation did. KZbin's algorithm rewards consistent uploads. Less than 2 months after CC, on October 6th 2016, my son was diagnosed with Leukemia, blood cancer. My focus has been on his recovery. We just crossed our one year milestone. 2 more to go. He is a F'ing rock star ⭐️ so proud of him & how strong he is. I filmed a few vlogs & videos, but it's way harder to film for youtube when all your focus is on something else. Family first, always. I'll be back 😎 #AlexanderStrong #LiveInspired #ShockTheWorld

one of the things that should be appreciated about Content Cop the most is that Idubbbz makes one only when he deems necessary. He knows its by far the most popular thing on his channel - and if he wanted to he could pop out 1 every week to cash in. But because he uses this power responsibly - he always leaves us wanting more, and that is a clever move.
@KartonRealista27 жыл бұрын

Most would see that a series is popular and churn them out over and over for the money without regard to quality.

just admit it theyre personal attacks but its fine. theres no shame in having a little bit of schadenfreude
@JpgExe6 жыл бұрын
Silver Crow They are personal attacks, but considering the channels he criticizes are mostly based on the character of the content creator, such as Tana Mongeau and her story time, or Leafy and his "bullying", RiceGum and his flexing, it's well warranted. Imagine Tana's channel if she didn't dramatize everything, imagine Leafy's channel if he didn't make fun of people. Imagine RiceGums channel if he didn't flex. These core elements which resonate in the character of the content creator are flaws in the channel itself. When the channel isn't based so much on the character of the content creator (HowtoPRANKitup, Techrax), the personal attacks or minimal to non existent. If you are talking about him taking things they've said and using it to entertain, you must remember Idubbbz also wants to entertain, it also doesn't matter how many times Idubbbz brings up Leafy's chin, as long as that isn't used as an actual argument.

Content Cop is not there for the express intent to kill channels, even though it's often been given the "channel killer" label. It's mostly there to point out either 1. generally poor content (Jinx/Keemstar/food review/toy review) 2. hypocrisy (Tana/Ricegum) or 3. general douchebaggery (Ricegum/Leafy). Often times the targets lose plenty of subs up front but rarely actually die out because for every person educated by Content Cop, there's five 12 year olds standing in line to subscribe. In short, it's mostly there to bring awareness to not only the content creator's audience but the creator themselves. If you accept the criticisms and try to better yourself and your content, you'll be fine. If you reinforce everything iDubbbz says in the episode, as Ricegum is currently doing, it only serves to solidify the criticisms and people's negative view of you.
@justchillin82707 жыл бұрын
HardcoreGator well said. This guy totally missed the point of a content cop. Its not made to kill channels just expose the truth about the people. And that ifubbz has been successful in every single time
@wade21127 жыл бұрын
I feel like part of what gave Leafy subs back around this time is the release of Ricegum's content cop. People wonder about these things like how effective of a channel killer it is, that's why some people look up Leafy and resub after a content cop. That's why we're all here
@HardcoreGator7 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I'm not knocking the video or creator. He's done his homework and it's a good analysis of the numbers and a pretty well made video to boot. I just wanted to point out that this is a case where the numbers, though important, do not tell the whole story.
@HardcoreGator7 жыл бұрын
Correct. iDubbbz has never out and out "killed" a channel with Content Cop. It may stagnate or, like in Jinx's case, their platform may just fall out of vogue, but you've never seen a target of Content Cop go from like 6 million subs to 200k or something that drastic. Like chillin said, it simply brings exposure to issues worthy of criticism. Everybody is worthy of criticism, even iDubbbz himself, and he'd be the first to admit it. Hell, he admitted on I believe H3H3's podcast that he most regretted the Content Cop on the Fine Bros because he essentially beat a dead horse and didn't bring any new criticism to the table. Jumping in on the dog pile, so to speak. Fine Bros aside, what lands a channel on Content Cop isn't a mistake or two. It's a whole career's worth of mistakes and subsequent disregard for said mistakes. It's the ones who have skeletons in their closet but think their fame shields them from it. For an incredibly cheesy and cliche metaphor, KZbin is Gotham, iDubbbz is Batman, and these targets are the villains. iDubbbz dishes out the justice when KZbin and its community won't, even if he has to go "above the law" to do so. Not everybody thinks Batman is a hero and sometimes he's not the hero, but at the end of the day he serves to protect the people from treachery.
@justchillin82707 жыл бұрын

People have a misconception as to what Content Cop is. Ian doesn't set out in trying to end someone's channel. He just points out content he doesn't like and why he thinks its shit. It is like a persuasive essay on why something is bad. Whether people stop watching those channels or not is up to them, but that's not the aim of the series. I seriously doubt Ian had any intention to end RiceGum's (or anyone elses) careers. It's all after the fact.

If i recall Leafy and Keemstar took a few of his points into their content and actually updated their format to some of his points, which isnt necessarily a "sway in public opinion" but it is a sway into the youtuber themselves, be it in their format or, in Tana's case, a straight up apology. Ultimately their content, according to people who keep up with them, got better even if their channels didnt die. The ones that didnt, or couldnt because their format was already a dead end, couldnt do much about it. But Content Cop, even if he didnt kill the channels, did have an impact in some way, that wasnt necessarily related to the number of subscribers.

Yeah but the thing is Leafy never really changed and lost a shit ton of views and never was able to recover from the CC. If you think about it what saved Keem and revived him was Idubbbz's CC on leaf . He exposed how Leafy and Grade A were being backstabbers when no one believed Keem. Now keem has more subs than Grade , Scarce and pretty soon Leafy.

Vitor Lopes Keemstar has been attacked by idubbbz, leafy, pyro, grade, h3h3, but yet still stays relevant and pulls in more views then pyro and leafy keemstar is nearly impossible to destroy and I wouldn't say idubbbz had a big impact on keemstar that was more leafy.

Idubbz wouldn't do a content cop on Markiplier. The man does charity streams every month, and gives all the money from his merch to people in need. I don't think Ian would make one on him, although he's joked about it before.

@Bronze_Age_Sea_Person6 жыл бұрын
IT is a "take down" because their responses to the criticism are always shitty.For example of different responses were with Leafy and Tana. Leafy could just take the criticism where it was right(like the 8 sec transitions) and/or get along with the joke(like the #NoChin one). Tana overreacted trying to make herself as victim,got some hate.Idubbbz did his point,then she apologized.AlthoughI didn't know she did an apology before this video , People either are too cocky to apologize for ther errors,and then IDubbbz destroy their prideful facades,or they are too dumb to argue back and prove that iDubbbz's points in his Content Cop were wrong.

Leafy wasn't a simple KZbin bully "for years" when idubbz went in. He started as a story time youtuber before that format was really very popular or as horrible as it is now. He was already gaining subscribers and traction when he made a video reacting to another video and "roasting it". This video did very well and he began to make more of these, while still making his normal content. Slowly this harassing content became more popular on his channel and he started doing these reactions almost exclusively. I started watching leafy before he hit 10k subs and watched him slowly blow up. I stopped watching him and began to hate everything about his channel when he started doing his shitty reaction videos. I felt betrayed and angry at Calvin, because I participated in the hiss meme, because I watched his videos every day, and to me, that's why the content cop struck home. I was just angry and disgruntled because of how his channel deteriorated. Most people don't know that or choose not to talk about it at all when discussing leafy so I just thought I'd tell a little story :)

Etika's reaction actually wasn't bad. He overdid a lot of shit, but he predicted the majority of iDubbbz's points before he made them, and actually supplied some of his own knowledge. He also addressed at the beginning of the reaction that he was only doing it for the stream, because he realized exactly how ironic it was for some black guy to be doing another KZbin reaction, to an iDubbbz content cop of all things. The channel that uploaded the reaction that you showed isn't owned by him, but some other random dude who just uploads a bunch of clips from his stream. Reactions are pretty cancer most of the time, but I think for something like content cop it's pretty appropriate, since everyone is asking everyone else what they thought about it, and how the whole situation was going to resolve itself. It's in these situations where one might be interested in the opinions of others because this content cop may actually have some lasting consequences. I just spent way too much time defending a reaction, but rest assured the dude didn't make any direct money off of it, and his only benefit will be those that discovered him that way, and stuck with him because they enjoyed the rest of his content. The only major harm done was done by the channel that recorded his stream for over an hour, and got a million views off of Etika's reaction, and the ad revenue won't go to anyone except the asshat that hit the record button.

You didn't mention that all the channels that idubbbz made a content cop on are still getting thousands of dislikes daily. Thy way i see it, content cop shouldn't be seen as "bomb" that can destroy a channel, but rather as a permanent sickness that make you lose all credibility, turns you into the laughing stock of the internet, slowly kills your channel (not in all cases) and ruins your future prospects of any major collabs with any youtuber. AND the hate never actually goes away. Trust me, if idubbbz even as much as mentioned keemstar on twitter nowadays or criticized him in any way. All the hate and dislikes would automatically come back and his channel would start dying again.

That wasn't Etika's content, his fans asked him to watch it in his livestream and his fans uploaded it to KZbin for views, not him.

Mat Francis how wasn't it Etika's content if he made it. Sure others uploaded it but regardless he made the original one.
@JustBeeSquared6 жыл бұрын
The are livestreams, and this one in particular he even stated in the livestream that he will not upload streams like this BECAUSE it has some one else's content. this case being idubbz

Paul Abdelmalak can you be overreactive, bombastic, and weird one second; and be concealed, rational, and insightful another, live to 10k people, and be conscious enough to know when to be appropriate? I believe most reactors don't know this, and are just sitting ducks, making money off others content. Gamers can be like this if they aren't genuine, and so can commentators... The difference with Etika is the quality of what he gives of his personality... And he knows how to do it on the right time. Sorry...I just don't like it when good content is critiqued incorrectly

Neil is God. He's been such an OG internet bro for ages. He created anumatation along with numerous youtube memes on here. I watched his little live talk and he siad he got into the internet as a hobbie and has been just making hit classics ever since. The first thing I've seen from Neil was ''The Ultimate Showdown". He's a part of me childhood.

guys, he was not roasting etika on being a reaction youtuber. He was showing an example of a clip of him overreacting to something, similar to how other reaction youtubers react. Ironically it was a reaction to idubbzzz

@VirtuousElysium7 жыл бұрын
First off, he is not a reaction channel, it was a stream which he didn't even post. Secondly, he added comments and thoughts throughout the video so it's wasn't straight up staring at the screen like many other reaction channels. Thirdly, he's not "overreacting". Some people like him just have that outgoing personality which you would've known if you did your research.
@TrueGuardify7 жыл бұрын
+TryHardNoob Or he just overreacts on all on his videos/streams because that's what'll get him the $$$. Pewdiepie talked about a lot of youtubers (including himself) putting on a fake persona for youtube. Ever consider that? No matter how outgoing he supposedly is, that reaction is clearly exaggerated and meant to put on a show for people.
