Love your video! (I also noticed that you’re living in Edinburgh - my husband and I lived there for a year!!) This was an excellent video about content pillars. I have recently launched my brand new business (sept 2021) and have been blessed with easy content ideas, due to the Christmas season. My business makes self care products using non toxic products enhanced with essential oils. Obviously Christmas is peak time for my business. I feel like I haven’t had time to breathe since I launched, but am now sitting down (on Boxing Day) to work through my business planning for 2022. This video was super helpful in setting up my content pillars for 2022. Thank you!

OMG my mind is blown. This is so simple and easy to implement. My only question is, how do you recommend we ensure synchronicity between platforms. For example, I use IG to promote my YT channel and I'd want to be sharing aligned content on YT so I can refer to it on IG. Also, how do reels come into this? The pillars I've identified for my natural hair focused content are: hair science/trichology, motivation/mindset, cultural reflections, normalisation (imagery of this hair texture), haircare tips, something else (this is content that shows me in completely different contexts just to switch things up - I'll use it mainly for travel).
@NataliaKalinska3 жыл бұрын
Yay, I'm so happy to hear this, Asha! 💓 And thank you for the great question! If you're promoting a new KZbin video on your Instagram, you could either treat it as a content promo goal or add a content promo pillar for yourself. With the latter, it would simply be another pillar added to your subject subgroups and you could make sure you have the space in your content calendar to cross promote your core content on different platforms. The other way of categorizing it is as a separate goal for the post. If you think about it, every post on social falls under one or a few categories like educational, promotional, personal, engaging, inspiring etc. It's the same with your pillars. The Hair science & Trichology pillar is clearly educational, Motivation & Mindset is inspiring and engaging, Cultural Reflections is both educational and engaging, perhaps also personal if you're sharing your stories, etc. It's important to mix these types as well to make sure you're hitting on all the important goals of social media posts all the type and not overdoing it on one front (let's say, only posting educational content without promoting any of your resources, your services or your other platforms). Your latest video on the no oils no butters trend is very scientific so it belongs to the Hair Science & Trichology pillar. If you post about this video on Instagram, it could still falls within that pillar if you share a small tip or a snippet of information from the video but is also could be a purely promotional type of post like the one you shared on your profile. So in short, either go for hair science/trichology, motivation/mindset, cultural reflections, normalisation, haircare tips, something else and content promotion as your content pillar set or you can leave out content promo as the pillar and just think of these posts in terms of their goal as well. Hope it helps and doesn't muddy the waters too much ;)

This is so helpful! I've struggled with content creation and long-term planning, but I can't believe how simple you put it. I can say I've put the blame on being in the insurance and finance industry and our lackluster topics of interest, but we definitely do more than that as a small business. You gave me a lot to think about just from this one video!

You’re very welcome, Paul. I’m not quite sure what you mean exactly, but basically one business - one niche - one website - a few related content pillars is the standard approach. Not sure what your unique position is of course but that should help you create varied content that serves your audience in many ways!

I just discovered this, never thought could be so simple!! Thanks! My question is that thing about set the content pillars always on the same days it's important? I’m so happy you’ve enjoyed this video! Absolutely, feel free to just juggle your pillars freely without assigning them to days. @NataliaKalinska2 жыл бұрын
It will depend on what you do and what your ideal audience may want to hear about from you. Ask yourself a few questions: - what you’re already an expert on, - what your audience is interested in and needs help with - what’s your unique perspective that you can bring to the table, - what you offer (if you’re a business) that you should talk about to keep your business goals alive. That should bring you closer to finding the perfect subjects to talk about.
