what it means to place this search and contain on hold. why we hold and what will be the benefits of hold .

The essence of placing a hold on the search results is to ensure the search results don't get deleted until after the hold period expires. Even if the user who owns the data tries to delete, for example, an email which was part of the search result, he won't be able to do so. This is useful when investigating one or more users' activities.
